Oddly enough, I accidentally broke one of my hard plastic lines a few years back, and made the repair with 5/16" rubber fuel injection hose. Much like you, I decided to leave it in place permanently when I saw how well it worked as a repair.

@MercedesDieselGuy I'll probably do a similar repair when it comes time, I suspect the OEM replacement parts are rather expensive!

also, i found the little rubber connector from fuel tank to metal line was ready to crack away to....
