I just wonder why the issue is always depicted as "either or". -Either "guilt" or "denial". I don't believe at all that anyone in 2011 should be expected to feel "guilt" about racial acts that were committed by others in the recent and distant past. That said, it should not be an excuse to pretend the history never occurred and that there are no residual effects from that past. Those who today, exhibit the same attitudes as those who committed those acts bear a guilt of their own creation.

I've told you one of the more obvious wrongs. Remember, I'm not talking about everyone and there are exceptions to every rule. I've had intelligent convo's with people of color about race before, but this is on an individual basis. As a whole, the "black community" is far more defensive than an individual.

I'd love to be able to talk about it, but as Pinegrove states, calls for a "discussion" are mostly disingenuous.

Since proving nuance is rather impossible it's just has hard to disprove it. The word RACISM or RACIST, Does anyone honestly and truly understand the real meaning of that word? It seems the meaning has been blown completely out of proportion and miss used. Many White liberals do not even completely understand that they are a part of the institutionalized racism Black people talk about. It's usually them who think it's their job to save every minority, even when we do not ask for their help. I think equality, in regards to race, religion and gender is an illusion. Although, as you say, it "feels good" to think that it isn't. Still, it is a matter of degrees. Of course, "it matters." Not surprisingly, it has been, in large part, the basis for NATIONS. In a discussion with a co-worker last week, we came to the conclusion that the BIG STORY of the 2008 election, according the MSM will undoubtedly be that if Barack gets the nod, that means that America is still too sexist to accept a woman as a legitimate presidential candidate.
