I don't know ,

I just always imagined Jay Gatsby as tall,dark,and handsome.

our english teacher even said that ,that's how all her students describes him every year!

I just don't think he matches all 3 traits

but the thing that really annoys me is that jay is only in his mid 20's

and frankly looks older. I just don't think he can pass a young character or Jay Gatsby

Fitzgerald is one my favorite authors.

The Great Gatsby is one of my favorite novels.

DiCaprio, Mulligan, and Maguire are some of my favorite actors.

I think Carey Mulligan is terrible for this role... how could she possibly compare with Mia Farrow? Redford and Farrow are classy actors and thats what made the movie.

The actress playing Daisy is so unremarkable and average to me looks wise that I'm not sure I can bring myself to watch this. It's not like I think Daisy is supposed to look like a sexed up Playboy playmate or something, I don't, but they could have at least gotten a talented actress who is also very attractive. Carrie Mulligan almost reminds me more of a young boy than she does a woman. /end whiny rant

k so i just finished reading this book in summer school. id be lying if i said it wasnt a drag to get through. but looking back it wasnt so bad! and im really hoping this movie does the book justice! although i was rooting for some different cast members...thought ben affleck would make a great tom buchanan xD

this film has the potential of being one of the best films ever made. Genius director, superb actors and knowning Baz Luhrman's work, the screenplay will be great too.

this is so ironic.... my friend and I for our english project made a video trailer of who we wanted to play each role of the characters and directer and we chose both Leonardo DiCaprio as Gatsby and Baz Luhrmann as director before we ever knew that they were actually going to make a movie with the same people involved in it.....

I think Tobey is a great choice for Nick Carraway. Leo would is the perfect Gatsby. I think Carey seems a bit too demure for portraying Daisy--I'd rather see Scarlett Johansson cast. The Great Gatsby is my favorite novel. I'm so excited for the new version of the film. :) Did you write that synopsis of the book? It was very descriptive.

Yes, nice actor, blah, blah but Gatsby has to appear and look like a man. I'm sorry, but Dicaprio combined with Maguire and Mulligan will make the film look like a 1920's beverly hills 90210 meets the Beach(film with dicaprio) meets the bold and the beautiful.

My first reaction to this news was sheer delight at the coup by the lovely and talented Carey Mulligan. My next thought was how many times are they gonna bomb with this story but then i recalled how i said the same thing about the Titanic. ....... With a starring cast of Leo, Toby and Carey, this American classic finally has a very good chance to finally succeed.
