I believe english is a rich language in describing such an event without having to convey a mislead information. Using 'elopement' instead of 'kidnaping' will convey a crystal clear idea without slightest ambiguity in this very case.

To my understanding, nowadays men in lombok don't really "kidnap" their bride, it's more like an arranged meeting, fully known by the bride family. And of course they won't really try to take her back. The ritual is just for formality. But in the past -as my father told me- the ritual indeed could cause war with bloodshed.
