This is one of my favorite Gilbert songs. I finally got my own PGM today, and dear GOD it's no damn wonder he can play like that on such a slick guitar! Anyway, great song, great band, and one of my personal favorite PGMs. Rock on.

yeah, but i think the difference comes from what they manage to compose, that means what they make their various techniques sound like :D

check out guthrie govan or frank gambale, maybe you know them already...but what the heck its always good to spread the voice for extremely talented guitarists :P

the thing about pauls music is that he writes music that is "listenable", without necessarily having to be a musician yourself, whereas the music of the most guitar virtuosos is mostly unbearable if youre not a musician yourself.

Even as a musician i could not stand listening to steve vai for longer than 10, maybe 15 minutes.

Paul plays his guitar however the song requires it. Everything sits in the right spot, and thats where a lot of other people can learn something from him.

yeah, if there is any guitarist that can play all genres of music it's definitely buckethead. guthrie govan is great instrumentally, but i don't think he would do well in a metal band. buckethead could write music for just about any band.
