I have ADHD and it's all genetics that caused it. My dad had it, his dad had it, and so did his parents. Also my aunts and uncles on my dad's side have the condition. Also ADHD isn't that serious. You may struggle depending on how bad the condition may be but you easily get through it without strategies or medication. I mean seriously half the kids I know don't have it and are extremely ignorrant and are failing theres classes while I am getting straight A's.

I think one factor that causes adhd is the milk. All the milk in the amrket right now is fortified with so many viatmins and minerals etc. riched in ADA and DHA. though i know those initials doesn't stand the same meaning as ADHD, but ADA and DHA are said to be for child's brain development. look at the kids now, so many have ADHD because those milk forces the brains to develop abruptly not gradually according to children's ages.

If you, or your child have ADHD and have poor sleeping patterns then its worth getting 8-9 hours sleep each night and if you can't sleep, visit a sleep clinic for monitoring and advice.

What is the difference between ADD and ADHD? just the hyperactivity? Is AD/HD similar to Asperger syndrome? Is it part of the ASD's? Who can say for you.... With work I've been lucky enough to get myself into an environment where my talents are used and my assholeness put up with. I push it too far often I'm sure, but I'm good to talk to or calm enough at other times which makes up for it with people I guess.

Think you'd have to start by asking what it is about ADD that effects your self-esteem. I imagine most of us on this side of the fence have some level of miss-understanding of body language and social situations.
You'd be surprised how often you'll be in the middle of thinking "oh shit, I've just said the crazyest stuff, they think I'm fucked up".... and the response comes with enthusiasm and understanding.
Confidence goes a long way, however isn't always easy for someone being told for years they are broken, disordered, or different.
Think the best thing I can say for you there is that if you link ADD and your self-esteem then maybe the biggest confidence boost will come from accepting that part of yourself which is different.

I am 21 years old and have been taking concerta for over 6 years with almost no breaks. while I did downsize my dozedge from 72mg to 36mg after 3 years, I cant get off it to save my life. Behavior and emotional problems are very real. Factually speaking, ADHD is not a medical disorder. Some theorize it is. Is it honest to pass this theory off as a fact? Probably not. I'm 34 and I was diagnosed with ADHD a few years ago. Since I wasn't hyper, I fell through the cracks in school. I've been reading since I was 4, and learned English in 6 months when I came to this country, so lack of intellect was not the cause for my struggles in school. I laugh when I read the ignorant comments against psychiatry, or medications. Sure I'm not too far off to suspect the majority of negative comments come from current Scientologists. The rest are just plain ignorant.
When my daughter was in 1st grade the teachers tried pulling the adhd crap with me. They wanted me to medicate her. She liked to dance like a ballerina and was having trouble learning. I took time off from work, worked with her every single night!! We bought books, gave her good old TLC and by the end of the school year she was the best reader in the classroom, and she went the worst student to the top of the class!! Fuck all the drugs they put kids on these days it's bullshit!
That is so wonderful! These days I don't meet many parents with that sort of dedication. In my area children are neglected and the school practically forces them on drugs, when its the parents at home and the teachers at school who really need to be fixed NOT THE KIDS.

It was not easy to get her to the top of her class and it wasn't even our goal we just wanted to help her. I gave up alot to help my child, including a social life. I can go without buying clothes and material things to stay home & help my child. I couldn't give up working all together but I did give up what I could to help her. I know kids diagnosed with ADHD who still drink energy drinks [a pretty big fad around here] watch TV all the time, play on the computer instead of playing outside, and wash pills down with Mountain Dew and Doritos. So, Im inclined to believe this fog is caused by some out side sources, not just genetics. AND if you do feel that it is a natural thing, there are many options other than the meds. Did you try those first? If so, then maybe meds were necessary. If not..then..Im not buying it.

Hello, Im sorry to hear that. Perhaps you could try some relaxing techniques. Maybe ask your mother to buy you some books or videos on meditation. And problems at school may simply mean you have poor teachers; that is very common. Propaganda such as this, however, makes even the commonest of traits possible "ADHD symptoms" when in fact it may simply be a lacking of attention, discipline, or fun teachers. Also I hear Sylvan Learning Center is VERY good for kids having trouble in school.
ADD, ADHD, Bipolar, OCD etc. these are not disorders - it's all caused by the way the brain processes Dopamine, it overwhelms the pre-frontal cortex (the inhibitor of unnecessary behaviour) and allows for unconscious material to enter the conscious mind - that's where the distractions come into play. I have Adult ADD or whatever you want to label it as - but it's not a disease, it's a gift! Einstein, DaVinci etc. all had this Dopamine processing. If you can help it, don't take prescribed drugs
ADHD is not a disease, but it is a developmental disorder of self-control. it consists of probz with attention span, impulse control and activity level but much more. these probz are reflected in imparment in a childs will or capacity to control his or her own behavious relative to the passage of time (to keep future goals and consequences in mind). ADHD is real - a real disorder, a real problem and often a real obstacle.

OCD is a form of intelligence not being used correctly. People who have ADD,ADHD,Bipolar,Autism,Aspergers and OCD are reacting from unconscious material entering into the conscious mind, but they fear this material because it comes from the unknown (out of the comfort zone). i have adhd, and i used to have "problems with morality" too, but it was actually the way that i behaved when i had upset people, i still understood that they where upset, and felt unhappy about upsetting them (especcially my mum) i just never showed it. the exact oposite of "morality problems" is often investigated with ADD and ADHD children and some scientists think that they actually often have ESP (extra-sensory perseption(if i got that right))

my daughter has severe adhd and so do i but i am not as hyperactive as i was but my daughter is she has to take very strong ritalin that with a normal child would put them to sleep and she also has to do neorofeedback it only works if she does both.

I'm shocked to see this kind of propaganda in circulation. Fact: NO PROOF exists to show that ADHD is a medical problem. None. That's why no doctor anywhere can show you a blood test or biopsy demonstrating ADHD.
ADHD is a made-up disease. Berserk kids with serious behavioral problems are real enough, but lying to them and drugging them is actually less helpful than doing nothing.
Hmmm... can you tell me about the pathology of this "disease"? If you cannot demonstrate the physical origin of a condition, then what you have is a theory, not a disease.

I have ADHD and it's all genetics that caused it. My dad had it, his dad had it, and so did his parents. Also my aunts and uncles on my dad's side have the condition. Also ADHD isn't that serious. You may struggle depending on how bad the condition may be but you easily get through it without strategies or medication. I mean seriously half the kids I know don't have it and are extremely ignorrant and are failing theres classes while I am getting straight A's.

I think one factor that causes adhd is the milk. All the milk in the amrket right now is fortified with so many viatmins and minerals etc. riched in ADA and DHA. though i know those initials doesn't stand the same meaning as ADHD, but ADA and DHA are said to be for child's brain development. look at the kids now, so many have ADHD because those milk forces the brains to develop abruptly not gradually according to children's ages.

An article in the british medical journal recently considered sleeping dissorder or poor sleeping patterns as the main contributing factor or cause of many mental difficulties including ADHD. If you, or your child have ADHD and have poor sleeping patterns then its worth getting 8-9 hours sleep each night and if you can't sleep, visit a sleep clinic for monitoring and advice.
It is common knowledge that lack of sleep makes kids distracted, irritable and so on.

But maybe it's really 83.2%, but last year it was 85.2%, and, of course, it depends on what specific effects are being measured. You won't find HQ research because nobody would fund it, the industry runs primarily on fraud and gov payoffs.

Don't get tested. Anyone who "thinks" they need testing, or who someone else "thinks" need testing will get a positive dianosis.
They will medicate you and basically ruin your brain chemistry.

Who can say for you.... With work I've been lucky enough to get myself into an environment where my talents are used and my assholeness put up with. I push it too far often I'm sure, but I'm good to talk to or calm enough at other times which makes up for it with people I guess.
Lack of control of enviroment is something that makes everything harder.... the things that you know are wrong, u can complain about but you can't always fix when other people are involved....

Confidence goes a long way, however isn't always easy for someone being told for years they are broken, disordered, or different.
Think the best thing I can say for you there is that if you link ADD and your self-esteem then maybe the biggest confidence boost will come from accepting that part of yourself which is different.
If you're on this side of the human spectrum then it really is a good thing, hell we're about the only people in the world that actually think about things properly!

i really dont know what you mean sorry. i was trying to say that i get the same punishment as normal people without adhd but i still get into truble not meaning it. i have anxiety problems caused by my adhd but i still do random things that people think is wierd but funny at the same time so its not really my choice. it a thing that you really cant understand until you have it i am just glad one of my best mates who is in all of my classes has it too coz he really understands me =).

I am 21 years old and have been taking concerta for over 6 years with almost no breaks. while I did downsize my dozedge from 72mg to 36mg after 3 years, I cant get off it to save my life. Does anyone know if ther are side effects to taking meds for a long period of time? At this rate I may be on concerta for the rest of my life. I am slightly worried

Behavior and emotional problems are very real. Factually speaking, ADHD is not a medical disorder. Some theorize it is. Is it honest to pass this theory off as a fact? Probably not. Is it honest to chemically lobotomize someone with Ritalin based on the theory that it might help? Probably not, and probably violates the hippocratic oath.

...As my boss asked me if I´d like to advance and asume responsibility of the night shift, I told him I had ADHD, upon wich he replied: it can´t be a very significant problem. You´ve managed this far without problems, sotherefor an shift managing role would´nt be a problem to you.

I'm 34 and I was diagnosed with ADHD a few years ago. Since I wasn't hyper, I fell through the cracks in school. I've been reading since I was 4, and learned English in 6 months when I came to this country, so lack of intellect was not the cause for my struggles in school. I laugh when I read the ignorant comments against psychiatry, or medications. Sure I'm not too far off to suspect the majority of negative comments come from current Scientologists. The rest are just plain ignorant.

When my daughter was in 1st grade the teachers tried pulling the adhd crap with me. They wanted me to medicate her. She liked to dance like a ballerina and was having trouble learning. I took time off from work, worked with her every single night!! We bought books, gave her good old TLC and by the end of the school year she was the best reader in the classroom, and she went the worst student to the top of the class!! Fuck all the drugs they put kids on these days it's bullshit!

That is so wonderful! These days I don't meet many parents with that sort of dedication. In my area children are neglected and the school practically forces them on drugs, when its the parents at home and the teachers at school who really need to be fixed NOT THE KIDS.

Thank you Llias. Its not often I get positive comments when I tell what we as a family went through. It was not easy to get her to the top of her class and it wasn't even our goal we just wanted to help her. I gave up alot to help my child, including a social life. I can go without buying clothes and material things to stay home & help my child. I couldn't give up working all together but I did give up what I could to help her. ADHD does exist but not in as many kids as they say Thanks again

I know kids diagnosed with ADHD who still drink energy drinks [a pretty big fad around here] watch TV all the time, play on the computer instead of playing outside, and wash pills down with Mountain Dew and Doritos. So, Im inclined to believe this fog is caused by some out side sources, not just genetics. AND if you do feel that it is a natural thing, there are many options other than the meds. Did you try those first? If so, then maybe meds were necessary. If not..then..Im not buying it.

Hello, Im sorry to hear that. Perhaps you could try some relaxing techniques. Maybe ask your mother to buy you some books or videos on meditation. And problems at school may simply mean you have poor teachers; that is very common. Propaganda such as this, however, makes even the commonest of traits possible "ADHD symptoms" when in fact it may simply be a lacking of attention, discipline, or fun teachers. Also I hear Sylvan Learning Center is VERY good for kids having trouble in school.

ADD, ADHD, Bipolar, OCD etc. these are not disorders - it's all caused by the way the brain processes Dopamine, it overwhelms the pre-frontal cortex (the inhibitor of unnecessary behaviour) and allows for unconscious material to enter the conscious mind - that's where the distractions come into play. I have Adult ADD or whatever you want to label it as - but it's not a disease, it's a gift! Einstein, DaVinci etc. all had this Dopamine processing. If you can help it, don't take prescribed drugs

ADHD is not a disease, but it is a developmental disorder of self-control. it consists of probz with attention span, impulse control and activity level but much more. these probz are reflected in imparment in a childs will or capacity to control his or her own behavious relative to the passage of time (to keep future goals and consequences in mind). ADHD is real - a real disorder, a real problem and often a real obstacle.

i have adhd, and i used to have "problems with morality" too, but it was actually the way that i behaved when i had upset people, i still understood that they where upset, and felt unhappy about upsetting them (especcially my mum) i just never showed it. the exact oposite of "morality problems" is often investigated with ADD and ADHD children and some scientists think that they actually often have ESP (extra-sensory perseption(if i got that right))

This video is a propaganda sham. It ignores the scientific fact that ADHD is a theoretical disease, not a real one. There is no medical test to confirm whether anyone has ADHD or not because ADHD is nothing more than a collection of behaviors deemed unacceptable. I have no problem with theories, but to then pass this theory off as a fact in order to sell pills is just wrong.

my daughter has severe adhd and so do i but i am not as hyperactive as i was but my daughter is she has to take very strong ritalin that with a normal child would put them to sleep and she also has to do neorofeedback it only works if she does both.

Depression used to have the same stigma; and by the way, ADHD is detectable through brain scans! I'm shocked to see this kind of propaganda in circulation. Fact: NO PROOF exists to show that ADHD is a medical problem. None. That's why no doctor anywhere can show you a blood test or biopsy demonstrating ADHD.
ADHD is a made-up disease. Berserk kids with serious behavioral problems are real enough, but lying to them and drugging them is actually less helpful than doing nothing.
