Wow, I love the quality of this. So much beats digitally recorded MP3's even at their highest bitrate. I know the audio track on this video is digitally encoded, but you must have used a superior audio codec (Lossless). Vinyl just has that full, rich sound to it. Superior quality. Thank you for posting this. Rush ROCKS!
The sound quality is excellent for a USB turntable. My nephew recently bought the Audio Technica AT-LP120USB and it doesn't sound anywhere NEAR this good.
What model Ion is it? Are you using the stock cartridge? Was this recorded with the USB interface? Can you bypass the internal preamp?
@BSD2000 The Numark TTUSB is more recommended. It includes the matching Groovetool cartridge, but the platter on the TTUSB is aluminium. The ION has a plastic platter yet there are also DIRECT DRIVE models available. There is a option switch behind the platter that interchanges from LINE-IN and PHONO connectivity.
The tonearms are Bærwald with 52mm overhang alignment.
But you have a Rega P25, yet the PL-120 of your nephew is fitted with a moving magnet ATP-2. So why do you have a problem?
@SlimeTron5000 I did manage to get very good sound quality from the LP120USB by swapping out the stock cartridge for a Denon DL-160 and using a Cambridge Audio 640P preamp. I have to admit though, your setup does sound excellent!
I just started posting videos of my Rega P25 and my Denon DP-52F turntable on my channel. I have a first pressing of Moving Pictures, mastered by Bob Ludwig. I'll make a video and post 'Tom Sawyer' playing on my setup this week for comparison.
I have this album too. I really oughta upload "The Camera Eye" in the future. I think it's the best cut on the album, and nobody EVER plays it. >_> Wasn't yelling at you BTW, just venting a little bit about how most people don't give that particular cut enough love.
This is great. I love vinyl. I have altogether stopped buying cds and mp3s now. If i buy a new album, I go to my local vinyl shop and pick up the vinyl version. digital sucks. Cassettes and vinyl FTW!
good sound mate, comes alive when you plug in headphones makes it more enjoyable, add it to favourites and listen to this version instead. Thanks a lot. Joanne
