  • start reading your bible Andrew. stop dissing preachers. Love fulfills the law.

  • @manualboyca

Preachers deserve to be dissed if they're teaching nonsense. Are you implying he doesn't have love because he is criticizing your idols? Christians today really make me shake my head in frustration.

  • everyone should do themselves a favor and never pay any attention to andrew bain at all. arguing with him encourages him, its the fuel to his fire, dissension is the reason his ministry exists.(romans 16:17) tells us to stay away from these type of people "such people are not serving the Lord but their own appetite.he has been doing this for a long time and he has been warned many times.he is not gonna repent for his ministry.may God help him.just pray for andrew theirs nothing more we can do

  • Piper says "distorted view"...

  • You, sir, are a blind guide--a heresy hunter of the sort that damages people's opinions of men of God by ineptly and inaccurately nitpicking their arguments to the detriment of your hearers.

In love, I do not feel that the Spirit is leading and directing you in this endeavor. I pray that men like you would receive eyes to see and come to ever-increasing understanding of the character of God.

    Read 1 Timothy 4:15-16

If you are truly His, the maturity and the fruit will come. Repent.

  • @ProstrateBeforeHim

Heresy Hunter? I thought that was a term only used by the TBN preachers. Do you watch TBN? He's not a blind guide, everything he says makes sense, and he's right.

  • Geeze, you really don't like Piper...

  • Andrew you are not getting what he is saying.

  • Idolatry? Seems like you're the one with the "immoderate attachment".

  • you are, what the Bible calls, a pharisee, and you're not even trying hard

  • You clearly do not understand what Piper is getting at here. And Piper saying that unbelievers should pray in their disbelief is not immoral. Only God can save, and praying to him in their disbelief is surrendering themselves and asking for his intervention in their lives.

  • Then Andrew should call out guys like Todd Bentley, Rick Warren, Joel Osteen, Benny Hinn...

  • andrew is taking john pipers words out of context, go listen to the whole sermon

  • dude, your totoally wrong on some of these vids, please consult with the Holy Spirit before u put up another one... the bible says God hates one who causes discord among the bretheren... and it also says that God is not the author of confusion...so please man stop dividing and confusing babes in Christ ok.... thanx man love ya !

  • no point loving a slandering liar who has been warned a million times and yet continues to take no heed. I haven't seen many examples where 1 Corinthians 5:11 should be put into practice, but Andrew McBain is a prime example.

  • What you don't realise is that the Devil of incapable of innovation - he cannot create anything. All he is capable of doing is faking, aping, and distorting what God has already created. Human beings should fear God; the devil takes that a turns into the fear of horror. Anything evil is a distortion of something good. That is the essence of the fall.

  • What you need to realize is that Piper's exhortations to "non-believers" are not to the "non-Elect." He's not imploring people God has not chosen to save themselves through piety. He's talking to the chosen who are not yet converted. God knows his Elect, but Piper doesn't, nor do you and I. So we have to share God's love and truth with everyone, even if they are currently a "non-believer." That is how people hear and believe the Gospel (Romans 10:14). God loves you, Andrew.

  • You say a person cannot believe and yet be unsaved. I am curious what you would say about one who believes in election and the salvific work of Christ, even in his own life, and yet does not live for God as his Lord, considering Jesus' words, "Not all who say to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the Kingdom of Heaven," and James', "You believe that God is one. You do well. The demons also believe, and shudder."

  • Good video! However, one must ask, would someone who is genuinely a non-beliver, who God is not drawing actually call out to Christ for genuine, salvation. I've dealt with many atheist's and i would have to say to this question; Not a chance. If someone is seeking Chrsit, they are likewise being drawn to him.

  • many phrases (e.g. "holy spirit baptism") are used many times in scripture by various people at various times to mean very different things. e.g.-all the greek words for love are used so interchangeably throughout the gospels, it's disingenuous to exegete a passage based solely on its greek "love" usage. i bring this up to show that expanding your room for meaning in words such as "belief" and "unbelief" is a biblically sound hermeneutic and not a post-modern relative definition idea. cheers.

  • also, he does give biblical support for this quoting the centurion that says "i believe, help my unbelief!" perhaps there are two kinds of unbelief. there is the unbelief of the unregenerate which produces a further hardened heart; and there's the unbelief of the newly regenerated heart that produces a casting of oneself upon Christ. i believe the latter is what Piper is endorsing.

  • Unbelieving believers?! What's next - Believing unbelievers? Oops. Too late. Piper's already said an unbeliever can believe the Gospel.

Also. Poor choice with the centurion example. He was living before the Resurrection and lacked the final decisive proof that Jesus was the Christ. That was the reason he doubted.

I can't find any examples of believers doubting AFTER the Resurrection. Can you? More info here. Godnoliar.##com/john_the_baptist.htm

  • Your problem is that you can't wrap your head around the concept of varying degrees of faith. One can have faith that is either stronger or weaker than the person next to him. Your argument against the person you responded to is that there is only one degree of faith and it is either complete or non-existent. Which is false.

  • @AndrewcBain

Can't find examples? What about Thomas? John 20:24-31

  • this is how a true calvinist preaches evangelically. you don't tell a non believer "you have no will, you can't choose God. i can only hope He does something to you soon before it's too late." No- you plead with them telling them to choose Christ and that He is so much more beautiful than the pleasures they are pursuing now. you do this all along knowing that they can't choose God apart from God already having chosen them. this is what piper is doing.

  • Piper is telling unbelievers to pray BEFORE they are saved. This implies that something is needed FROM MAN, ON TOP of Christ's work in order for a man to be saved.

  • andrew, piper no longer teaches at a seminary. his interests now are in practical and pastoral theology. he must speak to where someone is in their own mind at the ground level. he knows no true unbeliever can actually pray and desire God's mercy apart from the Grace from God to do so. piper knows that no one will pray that prayer and truly mean it apart from God already having chosen them.

  • Hi. Thanks for your response.

You wrote, "[Piper] knows no true unbeliever can actually pray and desire God's mercy apart from the Grace from God to do so."

OK. Let's follow the logic through. First you say that Piper thinks only those with the Holy Spirit can desire God. Now, in the quote I've pasted below, Piper says that everyone in the world desires God. That means, Piper believes that everyone in the world must have the Holy Spirit.

  • Piper writes,

"Moses... cried... "I pray thee, show me thy glory". THIS IS THE HEART-PANG OF EVERY HUMAN BEING ... Only a few diagnose the LONGING BENEATH EVERY HUMAN DESIRE -- THE LONGING TO SEE GOD." (The Supremacy of God in Preaching, p 108)

    So

    1) Piper says only those with the Holy Spirit can desire God

    2) Piper says everybody in the world desires God

    3) Therefore, Piper believes everyone in the world has the Holy Spirit
