Laphroaig is a Single Malt whiuch just means it's from one distillery and uses only Malt. JAmeson and JAck Daniels are also Single Distillery Whiskey's. Laphroaig is only distilled twice which leaves a lot of volatile alcohol in the mix. A generation before Laphroaig existed John Jameson was making triple distilled whisk(e)y in Dublin which is much smoother. Plus he used Malt and unmalted barley which gives a creamy mouthfeel absent in Laphroaig. It's a matter pf personal taste, not quality.
Laphroaig is okay if you like peated whisky. A lot of whisky drinkers dont like peatiness. So it's not really a good comparison to Jameson or Jack Daniels. It's a bit like apples and oranges. Scotisdh, Irish, American - three totally different styles. Different ingredients, different distillation methods, different in so many ways.
@pete5668 Laphroaig is a peated quality Sottish single malt. Of course it puts the 3 tested here to shame. No comparison. Personally, I never buy any of these three, although the Jameson is nice for nipping away at the bar as a last drink before you go home on an evening out. JW Red Label, in my coffee or cola at best.....or on a vast amount of ice to mask the crudeness.
