Electricity companies won't be able to generate enough electricity to charge millions of cars at the same time. Electricity costs will rise and you will end up paying the same amount for your electric car than ur gasoline car....and it won't perform as well.
And if you think electric cars are good for the environment...what they gonna do with millions of 50 pound batteries when they are no good? Also...electricity doesnt come from magical fields in lala land.
Well, I hope they are like Toyota, and offer $500 for the spent batteries, then if they do the same they will recondition them and sell them at half price. I don't know if GM is planning to implement a system, but I plan on installing a timer to charge the car overnight while the power plants are idling inefficiently. I hope that with this will come some more efficient power grid systems. That will require a profit for them though.
There is enough capacity to charge all those vehicles overnight.
Electricity prices will rise if the power companies don't get off of fossil fuels.
The batteries can be recycled and that's exactly what they plan to do.
Electricity does come from magical fields if they have wind turbines and solar panels in them. I don't know how far LalaLand is from where you are, so there might be some voltage drop :))
General Morons f*cking it up again. The reason people were so enthusiastic about this car was the look, now they want to change it.
They will get left behind by companies like Renault, Nissan and Mitsubishi who can deliver now, not in two years time.
If they hadn't sold the NiMH battery technology to an oil company they wouldn't be having this problem. Should have kept the EV1 then nobody would have caught up with them.
Texas will probably have to build 100 more coal fired power plants to recharge these and we can get poisoned by mercury knowing we are saving the planet.
believe what you like. i don't much care. it's your kind of philosophy (at least it seems that way) that keeps us from our approach to free energy. that philosophy also validates fighting for oil & driving an suv as opposed to using that same energy to develop new technologies. the worst student is the 1 who asks 'what if?' when instead of finding new answers
I would like nothing better than to find alternate energy sources so we are no longer reliant on the scumbag thugs from the East and elsewhere. That is why I asked (read my 1st comment) if they were going to have charging stations.
it's not about affording a garage. plenty of people rent & own cars. that's not the point. i'm talking about how people shoot down ideas instead of trying to help improve their applications.
i like it's steering wheel

Or everyone who buys the car can opt for a charging panel to put on their house/garage.
bjhorton2005 3 years ago
It was a joke. Not a single person in Texas is likely to give up their monster truck or SUV even if they end up living in it.

Isn't that the guy from the Washington Mutual commercials? and we KNOW what happened to THEM...

Where the f#@# are some people going to go to charge them? Are they going to have re-charging stations?
GiovannaNYC 3 years ago
Apparently you'll be able to do it at home somehow.

then start answering some questions. use your imagination. that's the best way to problem solve, don't you think?
