The greatest live band ever at the peak of they're power and what fuckin power they had! Amazing band 4 people who on stage where so good they blow every person at the gigs mind i seen them on face dances tour so no moon but still the best iv ever seen
@Planktontwo Not as far as I know. I have The Kids Are Alright on Blu Ray and don't recall seeing this. They do have Young Man Blues leading into My Generation Blues on that however IIRC.
You ever see Zeppelin on stage? not to compare to the Who...but I saw them both...very different bands..but easily the most powerful bands ever.....except for Jimi of course...anyway...one of the most interesting things was, that after Keith died, you can see Peter still looked for him, while he was playing...and it was Kenney...and it just wasn't the same...Kenney did the best job he could...but he wasn't Keith....Roger talks about this in the documentary on the Who....
One of the most interesting things was, that after Jimi died, you could see many looking lfor him. Jesus talks about this in the 911 commission report.
lets keep in mind that jonesy and bonham of zep were the best rhythm section ever but these guys had a cool thing. like helter skelter says though, not quite a traditional rhythm section.
I have given it a fair bit of thought & have come to the conclusion that The Who, at their peak, were the best live act ever. They work so well together. Entwistle doing so much with his bass guitar - filling in the gaps, making his bass sound like other instruments, doing all kinds of complicated stuff, etc. Keith playing the flippin' drums like it is his last day on earth. Pete kicking serious butt. Roger giving 150%. B l o o d y H e l l!!! :-) :-O
@entwistle4ever You should check out the performance at Tanglewood in 1970. I think it was their last gig in 1970, and the last one featuring Tommy in its entirety. Townshend has said it was the best gig they ever did. It's on a playlist here somewhere. Give it a search.
@TheStotter69 No one in the US compares Kiss, Crue or G&R to the Who. Ignorant fuck. Just be glad the US was stupid enough to save ya from Germany all those years ago.
@ridgeback69z Don,t talk fucking shit man, Britain had stood alone in the war for three years before US entered. Much as I admire what the Americans contributed in the war, don,t go blowing things out of proportion,
@TheYontartu Well now he was not hired as a stage dancer was he? Besides it was safer to stay clear of Pete, no? Doesn't sound like Pete was on for this one, never gets it together. Too much blow and brandy perhaps?
@juan13579run He DID!! The punks of 70's London looked upon Townshend as a god of the punk movement. There is a famous picture of Pete handing a guitar over to Strummer of the Clash in a symbolic switch of generations. The Who also did early heavy metal, trance rock, awesome noise/feedback, as well as the only ones to make auto-destruction REALLY cool. Like Pete said, the Who were just "basic Shepherds Bush style entertainment."
pause it on 24 to 26 secs....this is where you really see THE MAN of rock n roll that is still the most relevant being in rock to this very day..... all others that followed are just that...followers...
peccato che gruppi rock così nn esistono più...nessuno è stato in grado di fare meglio de The Who, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, The Beatles... rock is dead
My dog was starting at my laptop the whole time this song was on- tilting her head from side to side with extreme interest. She usually doesn't give a shit about any sound coming out of the tv/computer I guess this song speaks to her animal instincts
@melophobe originale la tua supposizione e probabilmente non sbagliata, che gli who prendono nel profondo degli istinti animaleschi, se lo è per noi umani può esserlo ancora di più per gli animali che agiscono solo per istinto.
@helterskelter1178 Rhythm section? That's really funny. This is The Who. John played lead. Pete was the the rhythm section. Keith played off of what Roger, John and Pete were doing.
@TheAdventuresofAaron i dont think it would make a diffrence being as there were no monitors back then i think i fucked his pedal up but i guess i will never know
Interesting that young men today still feel exactly the same towards the older generation that The Who are now a part of. Has nothing changed? Or were the 60s/70s generation a load of whiney brats? Or is this one? Or is it that just everyone likes a moan?
Holding and cuddling sweet, beautiful Roger at that time would've been a real trip! Just imagine the heat from his body having just got off the stage, You're running your hands through those gorgeous curls, they're cushioning your face, you smell them... a totally Whogasmic experience.
@SnugglySara I have good news for you: he is still in a very good shape. Look for the tape "Foo Fighters `Young Man Blues (The Who) " (Consider that he is 67 and 8 months now). So there is still time to try! Just pay to get in and use or loose it
@mrsolofeo I think he was more of the guy who was usually relaxed, when the Who performed 'My Generation' in the Smothers Brothers Comedy show (I think that's the name of it), Entwistle performed an amazing bass solo, but he played it like it was shooting fish in a barrel. That's how I view him, not really a shadow-guy, just relaxed.
@AntarcticAnt Yeah, Entwhistle was pretty much the anchor--keeping The Who grounded while Moon and Townsend did their thing; otherwise they'd be going airborne, quite seriously.
