  • i just watched the motorhead longplay and its uncanny how similar the mission breifing music in this and starting music in that sound...

  • I have the original game somewhere...I never finished it myself because it was too hard :(.

Never regretted the purchase though :)

  • I wish they make a remake of this classic. :s

  • Found this on an old tv system when I went to visit my parents, on Mission 5 I got every single man killed - I actually felt guilty watching their names scroll past knowing that the reason they're dead is because I was terrible :(

  • yeeeeesssssssssssssss! i remember playing this game when i was about 5 or 6 on my friends amiga and couldnt for the life of me think what the hell the name was let alone if there would be any vids on youtube for it! Thank you so much for posting this!

  • 5 persone sono dei bimbiminkia che giocano solo a battlefielf

  • found a cool cannon fodder shirt on ebay,

i'd link it but it would probably get removed

  • moja ulubiona gra za młodu :)

  • How could you lose Jools so early ;)

Looking forward to watching all of this and remembering how awfully hard it was later on....good work :)

  • Good old times! *-*

  • Our mission is to clean the world from these biological machine monsters. The clue for this story is the last mission, where you are in some kind of Lab.

  • I guess that it is an assault from a psycho scientist who created biologic machines just from atoms to rule the world. The enemy soldiers do not feel any emotions they are fearless. They only feel pain and nothing else. They are controlled only by the instincts and the instincts are programmed by the mad scientist. They keep coming from small houses where I guess small machines producing them from the air molecules.

  • What is the story behind the game? Who is enemy?

  • @JOTTABYTE It's set in the Vietnam war, so.........the Vietnamese?

  • @demondelasoul Actually that's just one mission. I guess it's just soldiers in whoevers country you happen to be in. Although I suppose you could say that the jungle missions were Vietnam and the winter ones were Russia, if you want a historical background. Personally, I just like the killing bit :D

  • 15:23 - lol >.<

  • classic stuff. loved this :)

  • You´ll never see games like these today, because it´s just bullshit militaristic propaganda- Battlefield or Modern Warfare are cunts.

  • War...war never changes... but Cannon Fodder is different. It is satire at it´s best. no more soldiers? Well just enlist some more!

  • From the day we could, we have been exposing our generations to warfare and the senseless destruction of everything......aint it cool?

  • this game is too complex for todays console generation

  • @dageezerboi While the game is phenomenal, there are semi intelligent games released these days too. Valkyria Chronicles, for example. You really need to use your brain to get through that one.

  • Jools is always first to die... the game just isn't the same without him. :(

  • Mission 4 Phase 2 was brutal :(

  • Jools! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

  • Is there a way to save the progress? Every time I must to restart the game......

  • You can play this on your PC!

    Search for Amiga Forever

    Then search for thegamearchives

There's loads of the old classics you can get working using this emulator!

  • I loved this game soooo much! Why don't they remake this one for 3DS?

  • Just love how the wooden roofs of houses explode once they've been blown off ha ha! This was the best.

  • This is the only game that my dad enjoyed watching me play

  • this, chaos engine, nick faldos golf and pinball dreams and fantasys used to be my life lol.. good times

  • By 120% the best intro and loading screns in ANY game ever produced by men.

    Music is wicked too....

  • At the start of "grand canyon" you can fire at the house just below, first shoot away the fence, then fire a rocket at the house. It will help you avoid tons of soldiers running at you.

  • 24:19 just realised I totally missed that little joke when I was younger haha brilliant! xD

  • Now THIS along with the "Dizzy" games was one of my favourite childhood games. Thumbs up if they should bring this back to Xbox Live/PSN! :D

  • NO JOOLS NO ;_;

  • Such a great game.

I remember right near the end of a mission when you thought you'd killed all the enemy, but you obviously hadn't as the mission wasn't over, so you'd send the squad wandering around the map looking for the last of the enemy. Suddenly the little bugger comes out from nowhere and wipes out your whole squad.

  • You could shoot someone straight on for 10 minutes, he kept on shouting "ughhh".

This game was awesome. It had atmosphere, it had character, it had suspense. Wish I was back in the 90s.

  • 15:23 Nooo! Why? D:

  • The PC gameplay is quicker.

  • most defenate wish i still had my amiga cant find one any where only ebay but not with the games i want hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • Was a great time...

  • Classic.

I really should play this game again. For old time's sake.

War has never been so much fun.

  • How to play a game with sound? My audio doesn't start sound in CF ;/ Start game by any program?

  • 'Bugger me it's cold'... Will never forget that level as a kid haha.

  • Cannon Fodder was fuckin' ahead of its time. AHEAD OF ITS TIME.

  • 10:06 the amount of times I got nailed by them damn roofs...

  • 10:06 the amount of times I got nailed by that damn roof...

  • Controversial? Pft, I played this daily when I was 6 & loved it.

  • One of the best games of AmigA ... extremely vicious and entertaining. Beautiful music and great ambient sound.

  • Love this game, just got an emulator for it yesterday and am in the process of playing it through, preferably keeping Jools Jops and Stoo alive, so far so good, mission 11 atm

  • lol i played this when i was 4

  • @optimystikill You will also need to put the w w w in front of the link, won't let me post the link fully so =)

  • @optimystikill *gfi*su/index*php?langid=2

(You'll need to add the dots where I put * to the link or won't let me post) I know the link looks weird but it's cause its a Russian developer. Click that link then just hit Play on the video, it is set to play the Cannon Fodder 3 demo. You may have to pause it an let it load, as it doesn't show a progress bar.

  • This is the old version of Magicka: Vietnam?

  • 7.37. JOOLS! NOOOOOOOO!!!

  • Jools, Jops, Stoo they will never be forgotten. Peace! Wherever a pixel heaven is!

  • More personality than almost any game developed in the last 10 years, and yet theres no clear story, enemy to fight against or real achievement for it...but war has never been so much fun!

  • some 1 help me out im stuck on a mission check my video of it ty

  • 25:05 epic x)

  • Russian developer- Game Factory Interactive is working on a new Cannon Fodder game after 17 years. However is has only been confirmed in Eastern Europe and may not reach the U.K, which for me will be a total drag.

Anyway, I haven't played this game in about...15 years and this brings it all back for me, I loved the intro music for this game so much. Long live Cannon Fodder!

  • HAHAAAAA THE SONG SO EPIC!!!!

This was the best game EVER for me on the Amiga 500 ^^

  • btw. The developer Game Factory Interactive works on a new Cannon Fodder game! More information will be released in later weeks.

  • war never been so much fun i cant belive i use to go into school singing this tune everyone must of thought i was crazy

  • Man, big respect for yoyu.

Amiga is my best memory of my childhood. :'D

  • I was in pre-school age when my dad used to play this game.... this brings up so mamy momemories and feelings :)

  • Heh, good memories. Used to play this a lot on Amiga 500. Might even still have the original disks? Who knows. Too bad I don't have Amiga anymore. This really was one of my favourite games. Some years later I bought Cannon Fodder 2 for computer but that was a huge dissapointment to me.

  • Oh btw, Cannon Fodder 3 announced today. That's why I came here.

  • @DiamondGB same here loved playing this as a kid

  • if you guys wanna see power like this intro on the sega genesis, check out the intro for RED ZONE, blew me away

  • amiga 1500 CDTV and wireless pad :D

  • Oh my god i love this game so much. <3

  • Sensi Soft FTW!!!

  • War never been so much fun

  • The gun fire sounds totally like, The drum fill Phil Collins does on the song "In the Air Tonight"

  • I AM SOOO GONNA GET THIS GAME AGAIN!!! I finally found out the name of it, haven't played since I was 7 years with my dad :D

  • Comment removed

  • pls what means that 241 ?? ???

  • The music in this game just... just... it just rocks.

  • lulz jools getting killed by the door, classic

  • I almost cried when Jools died.

One of the best computer games ever.

  • @mrhippo79 In fact, RJ (Richard Joseph, that is) actually died in 2007 of lung cancer.

  • @mrhippo79 i aint ashamed to admit that on mission 20 when i lost my first two guys i did cry but all that work just to lose them :(

  • Respond to this video... am i the only one who shoots the bad guys and if one dont die right away i stand and watch him bleed to death in this game

  • I had only the demo, had a lot of missions though, but I played it so much that I managed to finish all the missions without killing a single soldier of my own.

  • great game

  • omfg thats a wicked upload :))))) tx for bringing back Atari-age memories :D

  • I spent a good portion of my childhood saying "JOOL'S!!!!!!!! NOOOOOOOO"

  • Epic game back when I was a kid, so many memories!

  • best game ever

  • great memories here. Many a day/night spent on amiga cannon fodder around 92/93.... the music brings it all back.

At the time was the royal British legion complaining about the first "large box" cover, where it had poppys, sensible had it as a tribute to the dead of wars gone bye,but they were offended.

  • @IMPERIALSTORMTROOPER yes the same for me

swos is great too i still play!

  • Gotta love that funky title track!

Played this game to death back in 1993.

  • In this game you really grew attached to your characters, even though they only had a name.

  • rip jools

  • poor Jool, he was a good soldier...

  • Thought I'd give this go again, wish I hadn't...pain in the ass.

Jools died on mission 2 and Jops, stoo, RJ, Ubik, Chris and CJ all died shortly after mission 4. I got as far as 10 phase 3 and gave up. Funny, I originally finished the game on my Amiga way back when, I've lost my touch. There's a cheat "wellhard" typed in game but it doesn't work - maybe on Amiga only and not WinUAE?

  • How annoying was it when the roof of a hut landed on your men!!!!

  • @orbazel Yeah I know!! It's like, you think all's going well... just those chaps in the hut there to kill *throws grenade* And before your soliders can give each other high-fives, they've been exploded by a rogue flying roof!

  • Please tell me you didn't complete that Jeep Jump 55:43 first go, I lost many many men back in 1993 trying to do that.

  • 7:35 It's the DOOR again! lol

    Great game

  • alas, poor Jools; he was but one week away from ending his tour of duty;

    he shall be missed by his wife, 5 children, and his little puppy dog named Spot;

    R.I.P.

  • I remember sitting in maths class around 96 in the lesson before the bell endlessly thinking about playing this game when I got home...great dayz.

  • did they hire a tap dancer for the gunfire fx?

  • Where is your Xbox now, kiddo?

Best game ever - KILL ALL ENEMY

    plus

Waving and jumping at the end of mission:)

  • Best game ever written. Can't imagine enjoying watching someone else playing many other games.

I used to stick Jools at the back, but he always died :(

  • This games simplicity and addictiveness is hard to beat. So remember playing this on my Amiga that got given to me many years ago! Ended up making some nice money selling it online hehe.

  • Oh, God...I miss my childhood ant the Amiga days...

Is it really growing up, or they don't make games like this anymore? I think it isn't age problem only...

  • It's not the rocket launchers that'll kill you the most, not even the grenades. IT'S THOSE GODDAMN DOORS!

  • RIP Corporal Jools.

  • Does anyone remember the mission called "bugger me it's cold".. lol yay mission 3.. used to crack me up every time..

  • @finx2much I love all the mission titles. Much <3 for "Super Smashing Namtastic", but the "Bugger Me" one is pretty giggly, too, and a spot difficult to complete without losing soldiers... so slippery!

  • lol what was the fascination with keep Jools alive? I tried too...everyone did!

  • Btw, it's quite ironic (and maybe fatalistic) that the "Insert Disc 2" screen shows a hand-labeled standard Disc.

  • War is fun when you listen this few times in row

  • Yesterday i played this with my amiga :)

  • oh my god... I miss those days. T'was a great game. Spent hours with it. Sometimes even yelling at the soldiers.

  • nice music dude!!!!

  • You killed Jools on Mission 2!! How could you?

I managed to get him to 4 star General on the Acorn - that didn't crash when you hit 255 recruits.

  • The opening song is catchy, lol!

  • i wonder if anyone would ever consider doing a remake of this, you know, with todays graphics :D also best soundtracks to a game ever.

  • @McConius Good news: Cannon Fodder 3 has been announced, you’ll get classic isometric environment in full 3D, weather effects, change of time, destructible environment, physical water – all this and a lot more you’ll find in Cannon Fodder 3.

Cannon Fodder 3 is currently under development for PC and Xbox 360 platforms under Codemasters’ license. :)

  • Best Amiga game soundtrack ever!

  • This game was my life. Every morning in Germany I would play this game.. even though I was like 8 =].. and every morning I would have a tear on my face because Jools died =[

  • loved this game for dos

  • One of my favourite Amiga games EVER.

  • This is- I shit you not, the best intro song to a game, period :)

  • danke :D

  • Timeless, enchanting and super fun to play! I might play this again when I´m 80.

  • Currently I play this game with DosBox. They don't make awesome single player games like this one anymore...

  • Amiga 500 <3 i love this game

  • am i the only one who almost crys when you lose your first two guys? rip jools rip jops

  • @undeadmaster666 lol would not go as far as to say cry but i never like them dieing in the early mission. But still i love this game and always will, would be nice to see it come back as maybe a PSN game but updated gfx and so on.

  • HAHAHA i have this game for my cellphone!

  • I really jumped out of my chair when I heard the title music.

Kid's today don't know the feeling to hear a complete song with singing voices for the first time. Stored on a 800KB disk, running on a 1 MB machine.

  • Yeah that was pretty cool back then I agree.

  • @porcorosso81 that's right grandpa, now move on.

  • @Zejex15

The difference between you and me is: if you were born the same time as me, computers wouldn't have interested you when I was playing this game.

16 years later, you click on a youtube video, feel proud of yourself doing something every kid does today, while I am coding shader functions on GPUs and writing optimized assembly code for the Cell Broadband Engine.

Besides, what the heck are you doing here? Get out, before I call your friends and tell them you are watching granny porn.

  • @porcorosso81 You fel great while writing that right? No one is hurt with a little mud throwing in the afternoon. It was a bad and sarcastic joke, sorry. And I appreciate your work with the hardware. Merry Xmas sir :)

  • @Zejex15

And a merry Xmas to you too. ;) I'm curious though: how do you know about this game? It's something only us grandpa's should know.

  • @porcorosso81 There's a danish band of geeks who made intruments out of game consoles, and they played this song in a show.

  • @porcorosso81 they are called "Commodore64" by the way

  • @porcorosso81 That is so true! This game's title music and sounds was someting so awasing on A500!

  • @porcorosso81 Indeed. Also I was chatting with my sisters boyfriend friends who are about 20-22 years old. And they had never heard of a floppy disk. They even had a hard time believing when I told them about 8 and 5 inch disks. They stared at me with disbelief, like I was a grand old couager telling fairlytales to them. Hahaha.

  • @porcorosso81 For me it was Clay Fighter on SNES.

  • @porcorosso81 was nt the cheat type jools in to get straight upgrade

  • @porcorosso81 yep agreed. this was a double first for me since i couldn't get a copy and had to use x-copy for the first time as well. many days spent on this

  • That was a really cheap set of deaths at 15:25. Those fucking building roofs always seemed to fly straight for you. RIP Jops.

  • pamietam jak siedzialem przy tej gierce :D calymi dniami ta grafika muzyka jak na tamte czasy ;) 5/5

  • It's weird, my 1st mission of this game is "Mission 3" in this video... and have no sound track invloved

  • At 0:51

GREAT Richard, we'll remember yor works forever.

    Rest in peace :)

  • Słaby jest ten koleś - znaczy kiepsko gra. Tylu ludzi stracić w 4 misjach...

  • I was 10 when this came out. I'm playing it again on my emulator. I'm a bit stuck on jeep jump

  • JOOLS and JOPS!

  • and Stoo

  • 3:18 "kill all enemy" lol

  • actually i like the amiga verion more than the snes version, cause snes version hasn't this awesome intro

  • I'm not a sucker or usually remotely interested in mobile phone ring-tones.

    BUT...

    I'd have this classic intro!

  • I used to let my amiga run over days playing this game....cause saving didnt work hehe, great times.

  • Best intro music of any amiga game !!!

  • Thanks for all the memories! Amiga Longplays <3

  • wow! superb gameplay and the music is just awesome

  • we need a modern remake!! epic game

  • no remakes - just make it xp compatible

  • @gunzek Run it in Dosbox - works like a charm.

  • @wojciechgabrys

Why run it in DosBox, when you can instead play the superior Amiga original in WinUAE :)

  • @gunzek It has been done for both Cannon Fodders. You can get the games at gog.com (as well as a heap of other classics) dirt-cheap.

  • Wow, oh wow. I remember I loved this game. Thanks for posting this. Good memories. :)

  • Thanks for posting this vid, brings it all back :)

  • my dad recomended it and now i know why its great

  • I love this game. I used to play it all the time on my amiga 1200 :)

  • The music is really good. I'm impressed.

  • So many memories from this game, it rocks my socks! Not that it's really neccessary, but they should do a remake now!

  • used to love this game, wonder if it's even possible to keep Jools alive through the entire game.....

  • Not possible - once you have more than 255 recruits the game crashes

  • @cubex55

Could always kill off some of the other recruits.

  • @cubex55

Should have used a "double byte" there....

But then again... They may believed there weren't crazy enough guys to do this...

  • @cubex55 It was possible in the SNES version at least, I managed to get Jools and Jops to the last level.

  • @cubex55 Of course its possible. Keeping Jools alive doesnt mean you have to keep all alive. I remember leaving him in an quiet corner in every mission. Until some roaming bastard in about mission 10 killed him....man, i was so mad ^^
