This video was so inspiring!, I'm currently an engineering student and life is just tough, I dread the days where I get back an exam that did very poor in. Somedays there are days where you get multiple poor grades, but in the end I keep on telling my self to keep my chin up and try not to make those mistakes/ learn how to study better. Someday I hope to work as an electrical engineer at HONDA...cars are my passion!
So, what sevice is required in the first 83 miles of a '11 crv to keep the trasfercase from dumping pink fluid all over your garage floor. There are significantly more problems with the Hondas that were not designed under the supervision of the man who started the company n had no probem telling someone when they screwed up. It is clearly evident that the cost engineers took control of Honda in the mid-90's.
Love these ads..really.! but, you see, i have a problem with Honda.! they look like bread bins.! if they had a brilliant design on the outside I'd be there in a second.! but until that happens.?
So, I've personally seen a leaking transmission on a '11 Crv with 83 miles, the 01 to 04 civics blowing shocks with less than 10,000 miles, from lack of caster, junk Showa powersteering racks, Odysseys with incorrectly clearanced cam bores that lock up at 10,000 miles etc... This is all part of your winning strategy?
It's a shame that quality control at Honda died in '91 along with Soichiro.
@Foooweee haha yeap, that happens, to just about any car company? I love how there are a few stories out there about hondas that are quick to break, haha it's like everyone treats honda like christianity, some preacher touches some little boys and bam! all of them are pedo's haha!!!
@sausagenmuff yeah its basically giving you power only when it's needed so that there is less stress on the motor in the low rpm range and the fact that the car is lighter cause less demand on the motor to hit 60mph then it would if that car were 500lbs lighter imagine putting the idea of v-tech into other engines if thats doable then my friend we have a really crazy motor
other larger engines do have vtec or the equivelant power, the nsx uses a crazy vtech, like 150kmh in second gear. or the bmw M3 makes 111hp per liter reving to 8 grand.
@sausagenmuff Oh s2000 use to be the most powerful naturally aspirated mass produced car engine per liter of displacement in this case 2.0 liter engine making 246 hp meaning 123 hp per liter until it was beaten by the Ferrari 458 Italia.
@8184Antonio You're right the italia is ONE HP more per liter. although available to the public, is not really mas produced but built by hand I'd say though.
@sausagenmuff yeah both great engines, but comparing a hand built to a mass produced is silly. Honda's F1 engine is hand built, 2.4L 690HP!! (naturally aspirated)
@sausagenmuff the problem is not everyone is the perfect driver and a machine have there limits so the old hondas were a death trap on wheels I have never (knock on wood) crashed into anyone going fast but I did hit a tree around a bend when I unknowingly hit black ice and this is one of the many unknowns of street racing lucky for me it wasn't a honda I was driving or I would be dead today if they are going to make lighter cars they better make them safer
@sausagenmuff well i'm vw. audi, skoda, seat fan all the way... and no, there certainly is atleast one engine that has broken... simply because they all got their limit and some may even got made by a minor mistake :P
didn't mean to offend anybody, it just bothers me when some people try to influence on other's opinion :)
@sausagenmuff VTEC for f**k sake. It's spelled VTEC!!! Damn, if i got a dollar for everytime i saw someone write VTECH instead of VTEC i would be millionaire by now.
@ricardoandre1990 no it's because there built in japan. years ago I worked for Canon, they sell millions of big, heavy, expensive photocopiers, and they ship them all from Japan. they once opened a factory in USA to relive this huge shipping burden, but ended up closing it and moving all production back to Japan. the reason? too high a failure rate.
This is a fantastic short-film, akin to Errol Morris' First Person series. Very well made and great concept! Highly recommended. Thanks for uploading this.
vtec engines are probably the best engines in the world.... but the automatic tranny's are the worst in the world.

did you know Honda has made 13 million (MILLION!) Vtech engines and never has a single vtech system break or fail. ever. not one.

@sausagenmuff Nope they haven't made a single VTECH unit as this is a kids computer system they have however never had a single VTEC unit failure.

@sausagenmuff i know plenty of ppl who's vtec solenoid fails and the car bogs at high rpm when the system should engage (actually common)
RoRogerRo 11 months ago
@RoRogerRo
as far as i know its hydrolic pin, not solenoid
sausagenmuff 11 months ago
@RoRogerRo yup. without proper servicing, could happen to any engine

@sausagenmuff "Vtech" is a brand for a cordless phones and other items. I'm sure you mean "VTEC" =]

@sausagenmuff thats because usually the idiot driving the car will blow the entire engine rather then the vtech system.
