Petland (Hunte Corp) is a retailer for puppymills. Their business practices are immoral and their puppies are poorly pedigreed (genetic heath problems), often ill, and extremely overpriced. Their employees are either ignorant or delibertly misled by their managers. Purebred puppies are available through purebreed rescue groups. Buying puppies means another healthy, adoptable dog dies in a shelter. Petland needs to work with rescues and stop adding to the problem of too many unwanted pets.
I've bought two of my dogs from petland... They are as healthy and happy as ever here. But I want to adopt one so bad... I wish I could adopt all the animals in the world and give them all the love I can :(
Cute, yes, but I guarantee at least 95% of these dogs came from puppy mills, if not 100%. I went there and I saw a boston terrier, I played with her and she was all happy, then they put her back in the cage and she looked depressed cause she had to go back in a little cramped cage. Poor little thing, my heart broke at that sight. I thought well.. So adorable and playful and sweet, she kept biting my shoelaces, why not? But I remembered.. sorry little puppy, i cant support puppy mills.

@snyelhsa I worked there too and can verify that they are lying to you. I constantly asked for AKC documentation and it was not provided. The dogs were shipped in, not from families but from overcrowded trucks. One of the reasons they dont allow filming is because a good deal of business is done without proper paperwork especially in the cases of unregulated mixed breeds. Backyard breeding is still puppy mills, it has no affiliation with breed unions. get out while you can, they are good liars.

petlands in canada are different than in usa cause in canada they SAVE dogs and cats from puppy mills and in usa they get them from puppy mils and btw i got a dog from there and its healthy as hell and i called this woman that works in petland in poco canada acually admit they got dogs from puppy mills but they save them. so atleast it better than a puppy mill :)
my friend purchased dogs from a place exactly like petland and she has had nothing but problems with them. First they said they would give her papers and she paid hundreds for them but never got them. second because of the poor breeding the dogs had (puppy mills dont care about healthy parents just money) the dogs have had so many medical bills its ridiculous. last they have social problems because they were never properly socialized when so young.

Actually, Petsmart doesn't sell dogs or cats. They do run an adoption program in partnership with local shelters, so if someone isn't taken, they aren't Thrown Away. They're rotated back to the shelter.

If you want to have a purebred puppy, buy from a reputable breeder! Petland only offers a very limited health guarantee and does not offer any lifetime support once the puppy has left their property! Reputable breeders offer a 1-2 year health guarantee and a lifetime of support throughout the puppy's entire lifetime once the puppy has left the home and property of the breeder.
Although I boycott Petland, I do go there sometimes to spend time with the animals for 1 reason: They are treated horribly. They are almost never let out, or have actual time with people. The Petlands in IL are okay, not the worst I've seen.
@tlud67 thats what i do too! they have a petland by my house and the only reason i ever visit is to play with the dogs so they have some kind of life other than the cage! I mean the least the employees can do is treat the dogs and cats well and play with them. There is a wonderful pet store here and they used to sell puppies but now what they do is take dogs from the shelter on there last day and then adopt them out its so cute :) I feel bad though cause i mean what does happen to the pet store

@tlud67 we found under a dumpster when she was just a baby maybe 3 months old her name is bella and she is a mix she looks like a shiba inu/chow chow mix and my other girl we got her from the shelter on her last days left her name is lily and she is a rottweiler/pittbull mix. Lily is now 6 and Bella is 8 and i cant imagine my life without them SHELTER DOGS LOVE YOU TO DEATH :)
they never had any health problems what so ever.2 where from a petsland in Wisconsin my 3rd from a petland in Illinois and my 4th from Nevada.4 puppys from 3 different petlands and i never had any problems (1 was super naughty though lol)
i also got 2 budgies/parakeets from there and they are purfectly healthy and are about 1 yr old now.
i do not support puppy mills at all but not all petstores buy from them.Laws should be made to stop suffering!
@sportsgirl4444 your right not ALL pet stores buy from puppy mills I know of 2 here in vegas that dont. and one is because they take dogs from the kill shelter on the last day and adopt them out. But yes pet land is associated with puppy mills 5 have been shut down this year because of that ad more are being investigated. You are very lucky that your dogs are healthy but that doesnt mean they arent from a puppy mill after all not all puppy mill dogs are sick. :)
we purcased two bunnies there and they cost a LOT more than petland said. About the price of a dog.... Also, they had to be seperated becasue they were cannibal bunnies who were not socialized and ALL PUPS R FROM MILLS!

She was on sale i dont no y because shes such a sweet heart. but she sleeps alot she would sleep all day and she bites my cat. and if another animal comes by my me or my mom she'll growl and bite.its weird the only other pet she likes is our great dane and shes a chihuahua there names r bella and chloe

My freinds dog came from here, and she had a hole in her heart and had to have 2 open heart surgeries. They had to fork up 5'000 bucks (petland) to pay.

when you look at animals at petland you will see the breed(s) and price (that is it)
at petsmart and petco you will see all sorts of information on where the animal came from, the animal's name, breed(s), its habits, and the price.

they never had any health problems what so ever.2 where from a petsland in Wisconsin my 3rd from a petland in Illinois and my 4th from Nevada.4 puppys from 3 different petlands and i never had any problems (1 was super naughty though lol)
i also got 2 budgies/parakeets from there and they are purfectly healthy and are about 1 yr old now.
i do not support puppy mills at all but not all petstores buy from them.Laws should be made to stop suffering!

@sportsgirl4444 your right not ALL pet stores buy from puppy mills I know of 2 here in vegas that dont. and one is because they take dogs from the kill shelter on the last day and adopt them out. But yes pet land is associated with puppy mills 5 have been shut down this year because of that ad more are being investigated. You are very lucky that your dogs are healthy but that doesnt mean they arent from a puppy mill after all not all puppy mill dogs are sick. :)

I got a puppy from petland
it had nose problems and a cold and worms it his stomach
and guess what! We looked at my puppies paperwork and it said the he is from missouri and that is the puppy mill state
but thank God we took him to the vet immediately. He is very healthy now!

we purcased two bunnies there and they cost a LOT more than petland said. About the price of a dog.... Also, they had to be seperated becasue they were cannibal bunnies who were not socialized and ALL PUPS R FROM MILLS!

I got my dog from there. She was on sale i dont no y because shes such a sweet heart. but she sleeps alot she would sleep all day and she bites my cat. and if another animal comes by my me or my mom she'll growl and bite.its weird the only other pet she likes is our great dane and shes a chihuahua there names r bella and chloe

Although you may think those puppies are cute, you have to think about who you are really supporting when you purchase one.
yes, that's right, you are supporting not only petland but you are also supporting The PUPPY MILLS WHERE THOSE POOR PUPPY's CAme FROM.
PLEASE BOYCOTT PETLAND AND PUT A STOP TO PUPPYMILLS.
If You Really want to Save a life, then go to your local Animal Sheltor And Adopt..

and animal sheltor does not always have healthy dogs there.
When I adopted my cat there she had a fever.

@flippery8382 Actually the dogs at petland are all puppy mills and need to go to the vet asap for their health now shelters actually try and keep the pet healthy petland doesnt give a damn.Just cause your cat had a FEVER just a FEVER.Doesnt mean petland dogs only have fevers,NO they can die from their problems.

and my cat had a serious fever. Not just a little mild one. and I never said not all of the dogs are from puppy mills.

i hate petland it's a horrid place! one lady told me (it was winter time then) at this time of the year it doesn;t need excerise and i pet a puggle and she told me it was hypo allerginic. my mom and are are like your crazy lady

My freinds dog came from here, and she had a hole in her heart and had to have 2 open heart surgeries. They had to fork up 5'000 bucks (petland) to pay.
