i think everyone hating on this needs to read the description and see that they had about a day to learn the music...my choir (seventh grade girls) has been working on a similar song for a month or so and we haven't got it perfected...
This song is a medieval dance. I'll soon post a version of how this should be performed. That is, as soon as I'll get the file. It has been recently recorded and filmed.
I did this in choir about 11 years ago, in 6th grade All-County. I always loved this version, but I can't find the music because I don't know who the songwriter is for this version. Can anyone help me?
We are singin this at eastman, and were only singing it a little faster, i don't like the fact that you have a piano playing parts, idk, maybe we had different versions... but hey its a pretty song
i like the way the this song is sang and we are going to sing it on the 25 of this month at the sacred heart cathadral church in sierra leone on our choir day
i had to sing this song in 6th grade! imagine how hrd that was for a 6th grader! very pretty song but it should be ALOT faster than it is in this video! very beautiful song though.
Whoa, way too slow to be stylistically correct. This Viadana should dance and move. As is, it is stilted and dead. Why double parts with the piano on this wonderful a cappella work?
Hello.. I do agree this is on the slow side.. but this is not Viadana.. I think you are thinking about Exaltate Justi.. this is Pitoni's Cantate Domino.. which I've heard at this speed and a little bit faster. I also agree that it should not have been doubled bu the piano.. because they seem to do well without it.
I stand corrected on the Pitoni! You're exactly right. The Pitoni should also dance with far more motion, more in "one" rather than a ponderous three, don't you think? Agreed that the kids don't need the doubling. The parts seem solid and ready for polish.
this was our first piece that the choir did in september and we performed it in december. they sound pretty good, but we sounded better, considering we're high school kids, and we have more women than men in our ensemble.
My SATB choir is doing this song in festival this April... looked up this video becuase we're doing testing in two days and I couldn't remember the tune for the beginning 8 bars! :P Thanks for the vid, it totally saved my life!
well at my school their mostly the basic ruff n' roughty kind of guys! i used to be in a mixed choir but then other classes this, last, and next year interfered and now im in treble(do not pardon the pun)(jk)
Same, it's basically an all girls chorus, there's a handfull of boys in there to synchronize everything and tie some loose ends but they're pretty good.
much more like what i was looking for. i sang this and was trying to fnd a good video of it.

the voices sound great, but the piano ruins it. It should be done acapella
tdotgirl80 2 years ago 4
I agree, the piano doesn't matter. Morever the tempo should be almost double. To be honest this execution is a mess.
