We just a got 6.8kW Solar System for our house. One a rainy cloudy day you are looking at around 700-1200W. On a sunny day 5-6KW at peak time (12-4). Also, of course, no power generation at night. We just a got 6.8kW Solar System for our house. One a rainy cloudy day you are looking at around 700-1200W. On a sunny day 5-6KW at peak time (12-4). Also, of course, no power generation at night. Good for reducing power bills, but you are not going to run a country off it. It is WAY to inconsistent to even think about replacing Coal Plants with. But the hippies ditch the science and hitch a ride on the bandwagon.

What we need, is to set high standards to use coal. Why? Because- 1) It gives Incentives to construct, real, improvements, to less pollutant emissions. 2) Billions of $'s would be collected to invest in cleaner productivity. 3) Lastly, the use of coal, still, having it be the means to create energy. The more appropriate statement is that coal miners will be "forced out of the coal mining industry". This happens in any industry that becomes obsolete and archaic (such as horse and buggy drivers ).

The coal miners were herded into the mines if that is the only industry in the area they were born and raised in, then most certainly "local tradition", family pressure, lack of financial ability to move and fear of starvation herded them into the mines.

The coal miners were not herded into the mines. They have CHOICES, It was their choice to work in the mines, it was their choice to work in the logging industry, its their choice to move if need be. There were whole ghettos of people from the mountains that worked in the cities.

Wrong, you do have a choice. If you want to put them out of business, patent technology that will put them out of business. Why should the government take 150 billion a year to patent new technologys when we can do it ourselves?! If you let the government control it, THEY will regulate it, and you WILL be taxed for it.

I don't have a problem with regulation and taxation. The sources will be freer (sun, wind, water) , so the energy will be cheaper. Of course it should be regulated, I want oversight.

Listen I think you mean well, its just that theres a right way and a wrong way to do things. Did we ban the horse and buggy to get to the car? Did we ban the car to get to the airplane? Its not up to the government to decide what we can or cannot do. If you just shut down coal plants, your no better then the people your trying to stop. Its better to beat the coal industry because you have something better, not by being a tyrant by getting the government to force them out of business.

Huh? Coal has probably killed MORE than 100 million people , if not dead with cancers, with disease and permanent disabilities. Do you realize how many autistic children there are around the world?
