  • Why does this 5.0 have less horsepower than the one in the Mustang? Lower compression ratios?

  • I prefere the EcoBoost :P , Enought Torque and best fuel economie :P

  • Its just a lower compression mustang engine thats why it only has 360hp

  • @tyrone121285

it isn't just lower compression, you also have to factor in vehicle weight. and naturally a full size pickup truck is about 1000 lbs heavier than a sports car

  • @zoomping1 Yeah I guess you're right.

  • I hate to say it, but the new Eco boost v6 makes the same HP and about 40 more Torque. Probably better MPG too. Don't get me wrong, I love that Ford has a 5.0 again

  • FUCKING COPY OF VTEC xDDDDDD

  • The ford guys wanted torque for this one!

  • One of the best things about the new 5.0L and 6.2L for that matter is that they are in a very basic state right now. Ford can still add things like Direct Injection and Twin Turbos down the road, and I'm pretty sure they will at some point just to keep them competitve after the compatition come's out with something newer. Ford is already working on a Twin Turbo 5.0L Codenamed ''Road Runner''.

  • @MercuryMorrison1 Well, in development of the cylinder heads on the coyote 5.0 they made sure to reserve space for the big direct injection injectors, so there's definitely some room for an entertaining future in this engine.

  • its the same 5.0 but with lower compression, you know what that means!!! MORE BOOST :}}}

  • @Mangobrain82 its only 10.5:1 instead of 11:1 so it still isnt boost friendly ;p

  • @turbonegro1120 boost friendly or not, if you can afford the boost your buying the chances of blowing it up eventually anyway :}

  • Add a turbo chager and you have the equivalent of a Bone Chilling V16 5.0L

With the correct pressure it can yield ~800 whp it will make Tunduras, Chevys, GMCs, and Dodge shit their pants, hard.

    Problem fuel economy???

  • waiting for the all new 5.0 EcoBoost, that engine would be sweet!

  • @p4t0p3p3 yea but if it was called ecoboost i wouldn't touch it.. lol

  • now lets see the chevy trucks with the 5.3 try to beat the fords ...not gonna happen. a 5.0 with 360 hp... chevy loses now ..truthfully they been loseing sense ford came out with o9's ford does now lead the way there trucks are great

  • this cool v8 5.0l has in 2011 360 horse power & over 320 torque

    & 8.500lbs

  • only engines i'd look into would be the 5.0, ecoboost, or the 6.2. fuck the 3.7

  • @NissanTy For a base V6, the 3.7 is a really great engine.

  • Ok so the 302 is back, NOW BRING BACK THE BRONCO!!!!!

  • @BerriesMcGOO agreed!

  • 17 "Dislikes" are chevy fans shitting their pants

  • Does anyone know what the MPG for the 5.0L is rated at?

  • Its a FORD.........unreliable shite

  • @speedline65 Ford should've taken the bailout.

  • just a after thought, the 2011 mustang gt comes with the brand new 5.0L engine rated at 412 hp at 5000rpm.

  • thats a big engine man...

if you want torque and look for economy just use a turbo diesel!

  • Comment removed

  • Good luck souping up a 300 I6, you're gonna need it. Those engines take a hell of a lot of work to make lots of power. But they live forever in stock form and extremely basic mantenence, trust me!

And to you people who say we don't need trucks, you clearly have never left suburbia in your life. So they don't get 25mpg, but they get used all the time. And your huge batteries in your hybrid, along with other special shit in it takes more resources to make than a truck. Have a nice day.

  • Wow, built like a tank

  • Power equals safety when pulling heavy trailers

  • I like the Cummins diesel better. All those belts and crap is just a scam to sell parts.

Study the Mercedes engine used in the Stuka, or ME109. Certainly an engineer is not crazy enough to put a belt in an aircraft engine; so goes it for a truck engine.

Fords' old 300-6 is their best engine. Could it not be upgraded to 400 hp.? All that glitters 'is' garbage. Of course, if I won a new Ford I would drive it after I put a Cummins engine in it, or a souped-up 300-6.

  • @seapeddler gotta love that 300 I6 got one in the driveway with 328000 on her nothing but oil and one belt done to her

  • @bassplaysbest47 I had a misfire and a stumble, and I did the HEI/Duraspark conversion. I also installed the MSD S.C. 8.5 wires. Turns out the EGR valve needed a spray of lube. But the GM module and the premium wires make a world of difference. HEI module is 1/2 price of the Duraspark box and allows full coil potential. I just wish they'd make a 1-piece oil pan gasket for it. 328 000 mi. is a lot for an original engine. Do you use Lucas treatments, etc.?

  • @seapeddler all small piston engine aircraft use belts, they create less drag on an engine than gears, and require no lubrication. The I-6 is bulletproof, but would be incredibly difficult to make that much power out of one.

  • @flynmid (Of course I wasn't suggesting using he I-6 as an aircraft engine.)There is no engineering reason why gears can't supplant belts in any engine, drag or not. Wubba' melts in the event of an engine fire, and this means a crash-a-roonie. Timing belts should only be used to carry unruly prisoners to the showers. One for each leg. I read that a 300-6 with the HD forged crank can make 600 hp. This would cost far less to do than using a Franklin (aka. Porsche, Lycoming, etc.) engine.

  • @flynmid By the way; you can get a drag racing head for the 300-6 engine.

I think it is solid aluminum. So, how much hp can the 300-6 really make?

Anyway, the engine doesn't keep you alive. It is the cab structure that should be indestructible. When Ford realizes this they may be out of business. 40 mph surviveability into concrete is 'fly-swatter' country. It's like telling a drug dealer not to sell drugs.

  • @seapeddler You can get 600 hp out of it, but it's not gonna last long. Squeezing that much power out of 300ci isn't safe for an aircraft. If it we're in a car, it wouldn't be good either. Mitsubishi squeezed 400hp out of their 4cyl, but they require you to take it to a dealer every 4k miles to prevent catastrophic problems.

I see no problems with belts. If you have an engine fire, You shouldn't be driving it.

  • @flynmid There is no engineering reason why a 4.9 with 600 hp could not be a daily driver for many yrs. With specialized ceramic coatings on all bearing surfaces, friction would be negligible. ...like a jet engine stalling/restarting after flying through volcanic dust. The problem is what would mechanics/autoworkers do if 'planned anarchy' of design was illegal? Didn't BMW get 1300 hp out of 1500 cc's. Yep...But a radial engine can catch fire and still run.

  • @seapeddler The 4.9 wouldn't make a good aircraft engine because it outweighs the Lycoming equivalent by nearly 100lbs. That is without the radiator, oil cooler, etc.

I don't know where you got the engine keeping you alive thing from, but Ford's trucks are the highest rated for safety.

  • @flynmid As I said, I wasn't suggesting the 300-6 as an aircraft engine. But the inverted inline 6 was a successful aircraft engine in the early days. Although it was air-cooled. In Maple Ridge BC a motorcyclist hit the drivers' door of a late model Ford pickup. Both involved died. That is far from safety. Put a Ford pickup on its' side with the cab roof facing traffic. What happens if a 40 ton semi hits the roof head-on? I'm no expert, but sending comments on YouTube is 'far' safer.

  • @flynmid If you're driving down a mountain highway and suddenly there is a rockslide what do you do? Rolling up the windows does not stop 10 ton rocks, and neither will the cab of a Ford. Now Ford certainly could make an indestructible composite cab, but the business revolves around rust, dents, broken glass, and pure bullshit. Of course, towing a 10 000 lb trailer into a sheer rock face is another way of proving 'Ford Tough'? Ford has many great ideas, but nature is a deadly place to be.

  • @seapeddler what the heck are you talking about, nothing will stop any of those. Neither did I imply anything involving it. You're just babbling

  • @flynmid Oh. Ok. Time for melba toast.

  • @seapeddler Why did you put a Cummapart in it, I'm a Ford guy, but if I wanted to put a diesel in it it would have to be a CAT

  • @VFA103JollyRogers A Cumma-part? That's grammar bonker. Any quality inline gas or diesel engine would be practical. Caterpillars turn into moths, be careful !

  • I hope all car companies make car/trucks w/ better fuel economy, it's the future

  • I wish they would left more of the Mustangs 412hp in the tune...360hp isn't as impressive :( If I had one I would be happy to put 93oct in it I put it in my Mustang GT... guess they didn't want to upstage the 6.2L...

  • @hendo337 360 hp out of a 5.0 isnt impressive when Ford gets 310 out of a 5.4 and chevy gets 320 out of a 5.3? Keeping it in mustang tune would not work well in a truck as a truck needs low rpm torque. In the F150 this motor has been tuned for that, but in doing so now has less hp. Doesnt matter as Hp isnt as important and 360 out of a 5,0 IS impressive.

  • @hendo337 You apparently know very little about truck engines and fuel economy, maybe you'd better buy something else.

  • @hendo337 no if you look at it the mustang 5.0 makes 412hp @ 6500rpm, the f150 5.0 makes 360hp@ 5500rpm. since the truck makkes max torque at 4250rpm, ford wanted to keep the engine within the max torque area.

  • @hendo337: Well they had to retune that engine, because torque distribution is so vital for pick up trucks vs. cars. And when they retuned it, for whatever reason thats the numbers they came out with.

  • @hendo337 its a truck so they put a cam with a more low end power band therefore less hp more torque

  • @hendo337 im sure there will be tunes for it

  • Whatever your thoughts on transport are, these trucks are important to our economy

  • Why such a small video inside a black box?

  • I wonder how good the gas mileage will be tho

  • @shizzle5150 YA!!!!

  • I pull a 30ft trailer, he's right about the power needed pulling off at lights

  • Put tht engine in a Mustang and see what happens o.o

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila it already is

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila - I'm pretty sure this IS the engine in the new Mustang but with different cams for low end torque, an oil cooler, a lower compression ratio so that it can run regular fuel and other bits to make it more durable for use in a pickup truck.

  • @DaedalusZero Yea after a lil bit of research I found tht out. Thanks tho :D

  • I don't know if you're kidding, but if not then wow.

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila They put the Mustang motor in the 150. After they re-tuned it.

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila That engine is already in the Mustang.

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila it's in the mustang with 412 horsepower. DUR

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila they did

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila it is already in the mustang... rated at 412hp and 390 tq

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila

it already is. its called the coyote

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila

its already in the 2011 mustang gt

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila really?! look up the 2011 GT...same aluminum blocked 5.0L DOHC w/ Ti-VCT but with 11.0:1 compression and more aggressive intake cam and all rated at 412 HP & 390 TQ. With nothing more than a tune being loaded onto the ECM people with 6-spd manuals have made in the 375rwhp area. The 5.0L for the F-150 is actually modified from the GT engine and not vice versa.

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila its already in there, this is the same engine except built for truck duty lol...

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila The 2011 5.0 mustang has 412 hp :)

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila uh, they already did, it came out months before the new 2011 F150, it comes packed with 412 HP, though Motor Trend put the car on a K&N dyno and managed over 430 @ the crank. It's a badass motor.

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila They did put the 5.0 in the 'stang.

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila they did...lol

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila it is in the mustang :) this is actualy a detuned version they have the meaner one in the stang :)

  • @bobwatters What a dumbass

  • @KenSchoen11408 who me? wtf u talkin shit for!

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila

    it already have it

  • @mmAiElWhNwLwioLhNila I believe this is mostly the same engine as in the new 5.0 mustang

  • @vadergamefreek

I think it's actually the same 5.0 that Ford used for many years prior to about 1997 - same cubic inch capacity (302 ci), same bore and stroke. The major differences are back then, they used the ol cast iron material and pushrod overhead valves. This version is all aluminum and it's dual overhead cam/32 valve. As powerful as this "new" 5.0 is, it does have to turn more rpm to generate it than the old iron-block 5.0.

    Still, a great engine nevertheless

  • @zoomping1 Trust me you would never know driving it...I have a 2011 F-150 FX4 Supercab 5.0L and it never go's past 3,000 RPMS. As a matter of the fact 90% of the time it never go's higher than 2500 RPMS...It makes the F-150 feel like a much lighter truck than it really is.

  • @zoomping1 nah the new 5.0 is much like the older 4.6 small bore equal length stroke, the 5.0 of last deacade had a 4.00bore and 3.00stroke this new 5.0 uses a i think 3.600bore and a 3.550stroke. the new 5.0 doesnt have to spin high to make its max power. the 5.0 pushrod never saw 250hp in the truck thats at 5,200rpm now the new 5.0 claimed to make 360hp at 5.500rpm and 380 ft lbs of torque at 4.300rpm. if you put a bigger intake cam on the new 5.0 youll have roughly 416hp and 390trq...

  • "doing whatever you can throw at the truck" he obviously doesn't know my line of work (grading)! Sounds like it could handle it though

  • I bet there are a few manufacture writing down this info for next years models

  • Acceleration with weight is a problem, this should solve it

  • Really incredible how far theyve come, I wish my 4WD was like this...

  • english engineering...some of the best in the world :)

  • @skezzmo

i drive a 1987 dodge d-150 i get 8 miles to the gallon i leak oil and my exhaust manifold gasket is blown so i pour gratuitous amounts of exhaust into the air, i drive the anti-prius everything you think you're doing, i'm undoing in one trip to the store. stop being a pretentious fag and enjoy life

  • @mymorningzion Your a huge douche. I still enjoy my life and enjoy my car with a V-8 ( Lexus LS430) But at least I have working cats and get 20 mpg or more. Plus, 0-60 in 6.7. Have fun getting asthma from exhaust fumes asshole.

  • @mymorningzion haha good idea. I will do the same. Think I might start up the ole mower and just let it run till its out of gas. Small old motor like that makes more pollution per gallon of fuel than any car or truck.

  • @benchn280

while you're doing that grab some spray and paint and just let loose into the air with those bad boys

  • @mymorningzion haha way ahead of you. I already burn any and all garbage (including old batteries, oil filters, etc.) along with old motor oil and the like. Fuck the epa.

  • @skezzmo

You're obviously not a working man. Here in Michigan, the F series populates the roads, towing equipment for various small and large businesses. These vehicles are an important part of daily living. Let me know when a Prius can carry 5 guys and 1 ton of roofing equipment, and maybe then I'll listen.

  • @junitono1 Same here in Minnesota

  • @skezzmo Who cares? What do you drive, an electric car? If everyone in the world switched to electric cars do you really think that would help? Do you know how much more coal would have to be burned at power plants to make that much more juice? Quit being a nuisance and take your faggoty ass to a prius vid

  • @benchn280

The 6.0L half ton chev in it's most powerful stage (2008-) produced only 367 Hp, and 375 Lb.-Ft.

    5.0: 360 Hp, and 380 Lb.-Ft.

  • @SecularTechnology Yes. I was asking that guy how he could not find 360 hp and 380 torque out of a 5.0 impressive.

  • @benchn280

Yeah I know, you know the 5.0 it's impressive when it has as much Hp, and torque as a 6.0.

  • @SecularTechnology Yup. The 5.0 is the motor im most looking forward to. Idc about either of the v6s and the 6.2 is much more motor than I would ever need.

  • @benchn280

Not only that but there is absolutely no proof that humans are causing "global warming", Algore simply uses it as a means to make money. However i have to say it would be better if ford had an option for a diesel engine for their half tons, you can put out a lot more torque from a diesel than a gas engine.

  • @atgskater14 lol, anything I run (mower, car....) I make sure has any emission equip. put out of comission.

  • @superchargewhine

instead of recycling my plastic bottles i burn em and inhale the fumes.

  • @atgskater14 shit. i smash my glass windows when i get mad, and if any witnesses see i set em on fire. after that i burn the whole nieghborhood down. top that. lmfao

  • @superchargewhine

I am responsible for all wild fires in the state of california.

  • @atgskater14 i'm so bad ass. i told arnold schwartsnigger, gun, mouth, trigger.. and after that, his familly didn't even send chuck norris after me, I personally think he's too scared.

  • @superchargewhine lol i was being serious when I made my comment

  • @benchn280 who says i wasn't? oh and i plan on causing another mass killing against niggers to eliminate aids.

  • If they really wanted to improve performance they'd build one of those engines they keep showing with no block at all; imagine how much weight that would save.

  • doesn't seem so solar to me

  • Stumble Advertising... Ugh.

  • @MrChambuzz yup same here

  • OH MY GOODDDDD!!!!

  • Ford=King of trucks

  • @flynmid Is that why Toyota Tundra always seems to win the awards for best truck in class? xD

  • @XenoRacing Nope, because the tailgate doesn't fall apart, the frame doesn't rust out in 2 years, they don't accelerate uncontrollably, the brake pedal works, the box doesn't smack the cab in rough terrain, it doesn't look obiese, it isn't miserable to drive due to bouncing when unloaded, it's actually good off road, it overpowers the tundra with an engine displacing 2 less liters.... shall I go on?

  • awesome 302 is back!

  • @flynnstephen when are they gonna bring back the 5.8 or 351? thats what i wanna know!

  • @F650Rcr that is what the new 6.2L is for it it like 377ci even better :D
