  • Omg. for some reason, right now i-cords remind me of cute things like bunnies and rainbows. Awesome video by the way :D

    Grand MERCI !

  • Thank you! I am pretty new to knitting and was avoiding finding out about i-cord - it sounded too tricky for me! But thanks to your very clear tutorial I can see it *is* easy peasy :)

  • THANK YOUUUU ~<3 that was so helpful. before hand I was so confused I didn't' know what to do. :) this was really helpful.

  • This is so handy. I don't use i-cords much, so I always forget in between projects. This is going in my faves so I never have that problem again! Thanks!

  • Thank you so much for this! It really helped me!

  • Vampiremisstress The I-cord is usually to put a drawstring on a bag or the hood of a sweatshirt you can do lots of other stuff with it to

  • I can not can not can not believe how you have your working yarn in your right hand and have to move the whole hand every time you do a stitch. You are on the Internet, shurely watching all the faster easier ways of knitting, so why, what's the advantage?

  • @paradoxregina It is a matter of comfort, learning, and preference. Knitting is not a race! (Most of the time!)

  • @paradoxregina I have tried to continental knit, but have always knit this way, so it's MUCH faster for me! The way each person knits is just a personal preference. When I hold the yarn in my left hand, I am clumsy! VERY clumsy!! haha

  • @paradoxregina

There is no right or wrong way to hold your yarn when knitting, the best way is the easiest that the person doing the knitting prefers. I prefer to hold my yarn in my right hand and manage quite well and quite quickly.

  • @paradoxregina SURELY there are enough spelling tutorials on the Internet that you'd know that SURELY does not have an aitch in it. So why? What's up with that?

  • @paradoxregina Who fucking cares what you think? Shes showing a tutorial that makes an I-Cord and you're going to complain about her knitting technique? Do you not realize how many knitting styles there actually are? No one asked you for your elitist opinion on the pros and cons of knit techniques, and you might become more popular socially if you could learn to keep them to yourself.

  • @paradoxregina this is the normal way of knitting in England... i cannot for the life of me do it any other way =] just because something seems faster doesn't mean it is better =]

  • What's the I-cord for? Sorry I'm a beginner :^D

  • @VampirexxMistress I used to knit cords years ago when I was a child (50 years ago)....I knitted what must have been miles of the stuff....and what was it used for???? Nothing!!!!. My mum eventually threw it in the bin. Apparently you can coil it and make place mats but who would want to do that?? A complete waste of time really....but fun....I'm doing one now....it should be ready for the bin by the end of summer by which time I calculate it will be 3 miles long ;-D Happy knitting.

  • @bonobo2go Actually a lot of people use them for bag handles, little knitted animals, etc. I came here because I had a pattern that needed one! :)

  • What's the I-cord for?

  • Thank you so much! Very easy to understand!

  • Awesome! You make this look so much easier than I was expecting. I was anticipating only being able to do a twisted cord for my kiddo's pants. Thank you!

  • Wonderful video! I have a pattern for little snails and it says to just start in the icord style! I had no idea what that meant aha.

  • @MyassWins Glad I could help out!! I bet the snails are super cute!!

  • thanks so much for posting this! Very useful :0

  • GREAT demonstration! Thanks so much! I am making 'market bags' for my loved ones for gifts. They're really neat, fast and easy, but I have never made an I-cord before. Looks like a snap! Thanks again!

  • i did really like your presentation, but my only criticism is that, as a new knitter, you were quite fast in explaining. I just paused and restarted though so thats not a big prob, thank you.

  • sorry about that!!! I'm glad you were able to pause and restart to figure it out though!! Glad it still helped you learn how to make an i-cord!!! :)

  • Thank you Bridget!!! This is so helpful. I am new to knitting and refer to your video everytime I need to make an i-cord. Many thanks!!!

  • Thank you! The instructions I read for this didn't make sense at all. Now I've got something to do with that quarter skein of fuzzy stuff I keep tripping over.

  • Thanks for teaching me how to make

     i-cords!!

  • Simple, clear...thank you!

  • Bridget:Thank you so, so much, It is clear, well explained, finally I conquered the fear of how to knit I-cord, good, super good video. Keep this wonderful teaching. Blessing.

  • this is really interesting as i used to knit alot as a kid and have now since forgot how to knit... one question though (please dont thing i'm mocking your work or anything) but why would you knit and iCord? does is have a popose or is just something to do? i was just a wondering as there are lots of videos explaining how you can do it.

    thanks x

  • Hi! That IS a great question :) I use i-cords for the drawstring of pants that I knit for children. They are also great for any type of drawstring such as a knit bag. It's an easy thing to learn for kids also and it can be used for all sorts of things that kids think of! Mine would use it for tying things up, a belt, a toy rope for stuffed animals to climb...you name it!! They are just a fun quick thing to knit that can be used for lots of different things! Thanks for asking!
