@TheSajnt the internet is a great place to showcase ones ignorance.. That is indeed a Peruvian Harris Hawk (first year bird) and he caught numerous sparrows over the two seasons I flew him. The first Harris I flew was a large north american Harris and he caught well over a hundred sparrows as well as other types of feathered quarry. Harris Hawks just dont hunt rabbits, though here on the west coast that is what 99% of the falconers focus on with thier HH...
@eagleiain that is the great thing about the internet, anyone can be an expert! I assure you that this is one of the few Peruvian Harris' hawks in the United States, as I work very closely with a breeder who is working to produce them. I most likley will be flying another one for the 2010 season as well...
hi rastafox, this bird is the peruvian race of P. u. unicinctus . Very few of these birds in the in US, only about 30 of them. with only two being flown as Falconry birds

LOL I know he is small... flying weight of 490 grams +- he got lots of comments at our recent falconry meet, as few have seen a Peruvian bird...
