You think "The Get Up Kids" was the precursor to emo music?? You are about 12-13 years off on that (based on the fact that "Four Minute Mile came out in 1997). If you want the origins of emo, check out "The Rites of Spring" and if you want an amzing start to emo, check out Sunny Day Real Estate, circa "The Rising Tide".
