i have a v6 camaro with a 5.3 swap !!!!!!!! guy did the swap for me for $1000. i had a SS and the ls1 crapped out so i bought a 99 v6 camaro for $800 and had him swap out everything . (except ls1 of coursr) swapped out tranny clutch, exce. computer,K-member,cluster,im sure ither things that i cant remember > point is yes ,the v8 parts can be put on a v6 shell...insurance is much nicer to!!!!
@MrTurtle3006 Sorry I know nothing of V6 to LSx swaps so you'd have to check out LS1tech dot com . A 4.8 (why?), 5.3 and 6.0 block with all F-body accessories is a direct replacement for a bad LS1, with the exception of 1 missing alternator bolt. Not a big deal.
@AGearHead4Life You wont regret it. It is a daily driver with balls and with fairly decent fuel mileage as long as you aren't mashing it every stoplight.
is there alot of mods to be done on a 89RS to go from a stock 305 to a 5.3

@1f10w0 Yes, you will need a 4L60E transmission from a 98-02 LS1 F-body. The tailshaft housing is different on the 93-97s.

@MrTurtle3006 The LS1 was toast and there was a 5.3L aluminum motor I got for $200. All accessories bolted on like factory. Can't beat that!

@AGearHead4Life Valve sizes are 2.02/1.575. Intake runners were hogged out to 225 cc I think. Great deal for the buck!
