  • What you know about that Parliament!? That's the original funky stuff. Holla!

  • hey ya'll, does anyone know the name of the song that's used here in the chorus, "I'm gonna make it real funky for you" ?

  • War - Heartbeat, forgot our good Nice n Smooth were, they still sound fresh today!

i heard song just like it but different......

  • walla.. you right! thanks

  • they have to versions of this

  • royksopp happy up here

  • this beat is so def

  • YEAHHH BOY !!!

  • Real hiphop, study it so we can save it.

  • Wow, Im blessed to see rap before it became destroyed by record labels. At this time labels still didn't see Hip Hop as the cash cow it is now! Glory years of rap start-1995!! Some great songs have came after 1995 but, when 1996-1997 came around thats when the greedy labels(not the artist) destroyed the culture and music! Hip Hop is an always will be underground with breaking and freestyle battles etc.. Don't forget graffiti !!The way we dress now isnt Hip Hop it's to metro sexual for my taste!

  • yea it is,its all 80s hip hop based

  • royskopp covered them!! with their track 'happy up here'

  • it's a parliament original that has also been sampled by röyksopp recently.

  • WAYY 2 FUNKKY

  • KLAROE WAS HERE..FEVER at The SCION SHow Nice n SMOOTH Stiil GOT THE PROPS.

  • This is that real HIP HOP here!

I think some of these cats out here today need to listen to tracks like this!

  • me and my friends used to laugh cause dizzy played the trumpet not the sax, and it didn't even matter cause this was such a tight song...still makes u want to dance....i loves nice and smooth.

  • stick up kidz out2 taxz

  • This song is a trip down memory lane! Take me back to 1990 when I was in the 9th grade!

  • BX music at its best! This jam epitomizes summertime in the hood! Smooth B and Greg Nice one of the best duos in rap ever, along with EPMD.

  • ThIS IS HEAVEN BABY!! The fun records of HIP HOP!! Today rappers wanna be former drug dealers and THUGGS

  • Tupac was a thug...are u saying he sucks??

  • Tupac was a great MCee, but his personal demons destroyed him before he had a chance to shine, Pac wanted to be more then a Rapper! He was on his way being the next Malcolm or Garvey with message. Your either Hot or cold, you cant be be in between. Cause you'll be spit out

  • no he wasnt

  • Yes he was!

Have you listened to any of his songs?

  • his thug life was not what you think is

  • Ok...I know what I'm talking about...

  • CLASSIC,CLASSIC,CLASSIC!!!!!!!!

i remember dubbing this off red alert when he spun on friday and saturday nights on 98.7!

  • @phatplates

too funny - I did the same exact thing... still have the tapes!

  • yo this is real hip-hop

  • Classic!

  • This song was fresh in 1989. I was a young dude only 10 years old when this came out, but we rocked to it. This song is still dope!!!. It has a mix of funk, hip hop, and nice lyrics.

  • I heard this track on the way to work this morning. Its still a track you can cruise to.

  • Sampled from Parliment.

  • the beginning sample (ladies and gentleman and the beat) is from The Honeydrippers "Impeach The President"

  • The other sample I believe is parliment. Any way great yo mtv raps era track. Long Live real hip hop!

  • i been wantin to hear this for a few days...

wish there was more shit like nice and smooth, and pete rock and cl smooth both groups made you bounce... and never talked gangsta shit and did not have un-unnecessary profanity (dont get me wrong, there is a place in hip hop history for nwa and 2 live, but we need more artists that are less vulgar)

  • werd.. profound language isn't necessary. gangster rap isnt all that (i'll bust a cap in your as) for example.... old school seems to talk more about their own flow now they talk about superman that hoe... fuck soulja boy

  • couldnt agree more, one of the greatest albums is Step In The Arena by Gangstarr, there is no swearing in it whatsoever.

  • Maaan!! You can't describe how good this song is. I'm sad because I missed the majority of the 80's and I was only 11 when the 90's ended and what am I left with on the SURFACE (mainstream)?

Whack music with no feeling or feel-good sense to it. It all seems forced.

  • "ALL EYE SEEING, SUPREME BEING"

  • they need to bring back scratching and transforming in rap songs, I miss dat shit with the dj cuttin it up at the end

  • "Do That Stuff" by P-Funk

  • This song is a trip down memory lane!

  • Can someone PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE tell me what the original sample that Nice and Smooth are rappin to? I aint talkin bout the break beat either cause i know that thats impeach the president, im talkin bout the music thats WITH the break beat. David Lettermans band played it on his show on Monday nite before they went to commercial and I damn near crapped my pants . So I figured that I would reach out to my YOUTUBE potnas and see whaddup and who could get this info for me. HOLLA BLACK ASAP!!

  • this shit reminds me of video music box cause thats where i first seen this video. those where the fuckin days yo! they need to bring the dvds for that show, forreal

  • STICK-UP-KIDS-IS-OUT-TO-TAAAX!

    lovely east coast hip-hop

  • gotta love nice & smooth! can somebody please post "i need a honey to give me the love" if you know hip hop you know what im talking about. good lookin

  • I remember dis this came out in the spring of 89 real classic shit I miss it doe

  • MEMORIES MEMORIES!! damn I remember the block parties, the johnny pumps on blast in da summer!! much respect to HOT 97, WBLS, and KISS FM 4 having me on wait status with da blank tape in da deck waiting to record those ill jams they played on da weekendss. and also to VIDEO MUSIC BOX 4 showing da ill videos in those days too. OLD SCHOOL WILL NEVER DIE!! you will always be in da hearts and souls of us TRUE hip hop fans!!

  • thats real talk, i agree with you

  • True That!!! i was one waiting with my headphones on in the livingroom on Friday and Saturday nights so that i can tape some sick cuts from Kool dj Red Alert then playing them outside and on the train with my box, having everybody bounce with them beats!!

  • This reminds me of high school!!

    I miss this shit...

  • Dam i miss the old school

  • You all need a late-pass. Ego Trip's Book of Rap Lists already addresses Greg Nice's faux pas among many others.

    Greg N-I-C-E!

  • The first line is one of the most classic wrong statements in all of hip-hop and you NEVER forget it when you hear it. Greg Nice used to get away with these types of wild-ass statements because he has one of the illest deliveries of all-time....and the 'Hardy Boys' did have a TV show in the 70's. One of my favorite old-school joints...thanks!

  • This was the joint back then. Greg was nice but not the most clever dood. Dizzie was a trumpeter, and I'm not sure how many ppl put ice in their wine, sounds pretty uncouth, and I'm pretty sure The Hardy Boys was a book series, but oh well, this is still fresher than 99.9 percent of what's on the radio right now.

  • Nice beat and I can feel the lyrics to a point

  • This song is a trip down memory lane. I used to hear this song all the time when I was in the 9th grade!

  • Their best with Old to the new.

  • This song is the only reason to get the CD.

  • "R U SERIOUS?", What about "Early to rise", "No Delayin'", "More & more hits", and the overly sampled "Sum pimped out". Theres more than one classic cut on this C.D.

  • Good news! The price of this CD has went down to $30, I might buy this now!

  • Damn it!! I was trying to respond to the brotha that pointed out that Dizzy actually played the trumpet. Oh hell with it.

  • the drum beat is sampled from the honeydrippers " Impeach the president" and the rhythm is from a parliament/Funkadelic song.

  • Dig out some old War albums and you'll find where they sampled the rhythm track.

  • yep, WAR is dope, Can we all be friends ;)

  • MAYBE THE DOPEST LOOP OF ALL TIME..

  • The melody loop is "Do That Stuff" by Parliament, drum beat loop is "Impeach the President" by the Honeydippers.

  • STICKUP KIDZ IS OUT TO 'TACK!!! (tack!)

    Peace to REAL Hip Hop

  • Probably, but back then we use to tax as well :D

  • That's cool, cuz RED BONE BOOTIES I'M OUT TO WAX!!! (wax!)

  • stickup kidz is out to tax!!!!!

  • @ichibudo Bo selecta

  • @ichibudo - It is "Stick up kids is out to TAX." They are out to rob you, tax you for your money. It also rhymes with 'sax'-'max'-'wax'-'tax'. That is the rhyme. It was used in Gang Starr's "Just To Get a Rep" as the chorus.

  • but you will pay that much for some bullshit sneakers?
