What makes California one of the best places in the world is that it is diverse, beautiful and exciting. Until you have experienced it all, you do not know the real California.
California was originally part of Mexico and before that, it was occupied by the Gabrileno people. You might want to rethink your definition of "real California". Also, East LA is next to the Southern Pacific Railroad which was the trade pipeline into Southern California, integral for building the infrastructure of what you see today. Just saying.
I suppose. Sometimes I think I might want to move there, just so I could visit my daughter more easily. Maybe it would just be too much though. Especially since I'm getting older. I miss the beach.
I didn't see the main part of L.A. or East L.A. I just saw the good parts, I guess. I liked walking around Culver City. And I LOVED Visiting Santa Monica Beach and Venice Beach! :-)
My daughter, she's 26, lives in Culver City about a half a block from West L.A. She loves it there! But, I know what you mean. I probably wouldn't like living there.

I used to live there - in the Bay Area though. Sorry I took so long to respond to your comment.

Yeah, really. Take away all the white people from this country. But that wouldn't work either.
It wouldn't be very nice either.
