It's not about understanding what happened or what it all means, it's about enjoying the ride and letting yourself succumb to the whole mystery of the island and becoming attatched to the characters. The characters in lost are engaging and you really do care what happens to them because as little as we understand about whats going on, we still care about whether or not they make it.
