  • the fact that Leo got praised in J.Edgar, but got snubbed at the Oscars is unfair, instead they replaced him with Demian Bichir, a dark horse nominee who only has 3 noms for his movie, A Better Life. It just goes to show you that the Academy likes to pick their favorites, instead of the ones who truly deserve it! (the noms could also have to do with the sag awards, which is pretty weird)

  • As cynical as it may sound, Leonardo didn't win the Oscar because Ray Charles died before the Oscars were voted on. The Academy will always by buoyed by a death. Which is a shame, Leo definitely deserved it.

  • He should have won for Blood Diamond. He acted circles around Cuba Gooding Jr.

  • Just goes to show that Leo is STILL IN WITH A CHANCE for the Oscars!!

Just cos Clooney won a GG doesn't mean he will win an Oscar...unfortunately Leo learnt that as well :(

  • lol ill start watching the OSCARS when leo fucking wins one. by the way, by now he should have like 10 of ten.

  • Leonardo DiCaprio.. the most underrated actor of this generation! He is phenomenal and I can't wait for the day that everyone sees it.

  • That was not only flat-out the BEST performance of that year, it was also one of the greatest performances I've ever seen! The Oscars suck

  • He's by far the greatest actor of our generation. The fact that he doesn't win oscars shows how lame the awards shows really are.

  • i think they have all Leo's Oscares and i think when he goes to the scar premiere they'll say : An actor who since his movie in 1997 he came here and we didnt give him his Oscar ... so now Leonardo Dicaprio could you please stand up and come here??!!!!! then they will say : Alright Leo .. We are so sorry because we know you were waiting for this ... then they will give him 10 Oscares : 2 for What's eating G.Grape .. 3 for R. Road And 5 for Titanic! (claps)

  • @johnnygaddar4u007 Jajaja are you high? you are an ignorant and give me laughter. leonardo has 36 years old for god sake!!!! and has been nominated three times and deserved to win. Natalie Portman has had only two nominations, and already won it at the 30 years old and not to mention Kate winslet who has been nominated for 1000 times and has 36 too and won it at 34 ... idiot jajaja... new generation is zac efron, loutner Tayler, Robert Pattison. how can you say that he´s not a grate actor?

  • @johnnygaddar4u007 are you high? new generation? LOL he has 36 years old for god sake!!!! and he has been nominated 3 times and he deserved to win. natalie portman has been nominated twice and already won it and she has just 30!!!!. jajaja your soooo crazy and ignorant and not to mention to KATE WINSLET. she has a thousand nominations and already won it too. new generation is ZAC EFRON, TAYLER LAUTNER, Robert psttison jajajaja LOL

  • Javier Bardem was robbed....what a shame

Golden Globe + Oscar = American Parties

  • @Bruno28201 more like hollywood prom

  • awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww im in love

  • He is the future of all actors, SUCH A GREAT actor... I love him, no crap films, no bad directors... Only works whit the best guys in Hollywood!

  • @blejac28 :thats because he acted in titanic..not because he is a great actor.....dont tell he is great actor just because of his golden globe nomination ..gg nominations come to popular actors only..leo is new generation peter o toole

  • Jamie foxx was good but dicaprio should have definitely won

  • he is gonna win the oscars for Shutter island or inception..either one!

  • @prewin6 Oh, I really hope so!!! He's the best this year (as always)

  • NO ONE CAN DENY JAMIE WAS Good in RAY...he did a amazing job...if a actor can pull of playing someone else and you have to take a double look to realize that, that is just a actor playing the real person...that's talent! HOWEVER we WOULD NOT be having this discussion if they would of just gave LEO THE DAMN OSCAR for What's Eating Gilbert Grape!

  • he's such an underrated actor. he should win more awards!!

  • @babyfeera I think its the Titanic factor...which is sad because that is a fantastic movie and the proof is in how many people it resonates with. I was at work the other day and one of the regulars at the Bar was saying how he couldn't stand Leo as a actor...and when I asked why!? All he could go back to was Titanic...eyerollll just because a guy is good looking and girls love him, doesn't mean he isn't talented!

  • @missym877 i agree. i mean he was in other great movies after Titanic but everyone kept saying that the movie sucked because Leo was in it. but i think that Titanic was great BECAUSE he starred in it. example of a great movie Leo starred in, post-Titanic : Inception. really awesome movie, in my opinion. there are other excellent movies but there's too much, i can't mention them all :D

  • @babyfeera LOVEDDDD INCEPTION I actually saw it twice, the second time today...it was that good. I love Leo's work, he's done great films like Blood Diamond. He doesn't take roles like Tom Cruise, where every role is virtually the same story line...he isn't going after Romantic Comedy roles or Action Flicks to gain all the fame and praise big blockbuster actors get...he does films that are versatile and you can tell take a lot of effort and research on his part

  • @missym877 OMG me too. and yes, yes i absolutely agree with you about Tom Cruise. he's stuck making yet another Mission Impossible movie bcos he doesn't seem to know how to act in other types of movies. Leo is definitely much more versatile and i salute him for that.

  • @artmania1990 hear hear!!!

  • the fact that leonardo dicaprio has roles like 'what's eating gilbert grape?' and 'the aviator' and yet has zero oscars completely falsifies the oscars. both are incredible feats of acting - leo was ROBBED by jamie foxx this year

  • this is such bullshit. he should have won an oscar.

  • I agree he deserves an oscar ever since "Who's eating Gilbert Grape". That was pure brilliance!

  • I want to see his speech because I remember it was very eloquent and well-spoken. He always speaks so well at these events. At the scorsese tribute this year too.

  • lol "what was the first one again?" so adorable // my favorite actor :)

  • He's 1 of the best actor in the history!!!!!!

  • leave leonardo allone he is so much better than you all, he is the best 21st century actor and did an AMAZING preformance in all his movies, especially 'the aviator'.

  • Why is he a wimp? You should watch What's Eating Gilbert Grape...one of the best perfomances I've ever seen.

  • as many times as tom cruise says definetely.

  • no oscars yet watch he will eventually win for something really great because leonardo di caprio is the best actor of his generation, along johnny depp and benicio del toro, but just wait and he will produce a movie that will astound us all (not like titanic lol_better) aviator ruled

  • Is here a vid with his speech while winning the Globe? I can't find it...

  • the same here

  • leo should have won at least 2 or 3 oscars by now......definitely for gilbert grape and also either aviator or blood diamond......one of the most talented actors of our generation!

  • fuck yes! hes been robbed from an oscar since gilbert grape.

  • He should have won for The Aviator. Jamie was good that year but Leo was brilliant.

  • Congrats Leo! You will get an oscar soon too.. he's doing a lot of movies in the next couple years.

  • el merecia el oscar ,,,ya viene un oscar para ti LEO ,,,te lo mereces ..

  • lol "Hello"

it's sounds like he was answering the phone ^^

  • he deserved an oscar really..

  • I thought so at first, but then when I saw The Aviator again then is something 2-dimensional about his role; it's to flat in his portrayal of Hughes. I think he should have been nominated for The Departed; he definitely nailed that character perfectly.

  • nooooooooooooooo

his performance in the aviator was way better than in the departed..

he reminded me of al pacino in (scent of a woman)

  • Are you serious? Pacino in Scent of a Women is untouchable compared against Leo's performance in The Aviator. Even Pacino's performance in Serpico is better than Leo's. Their was definitely a flat feeling that I got from watching Leo's Howard Hughes. Compare him against Blanchett in this. Blanchett was much better.

  • you're right ..kate was more spontaneous..

    anyway,it's not a big deal .

i bet they don't give a damn about us..

  • @Scorberg I've just watched Aviator for the second time, and I must say I had the following exact thought: damn, Blanchett & DiCaprio is one hell of a pair. They both performed their roles that were in no way similar to anything they had done before, The manners, the glances, the face expressions.. Everything was unique. I'm sure Kate B. seemed to outstand DiCaprio because in real life Hepburn outstood Hughes.

  • He was brilliant in both films. But an Oscar for the Departed? Nickolson was kinda at his best in years in that movie.

  • He deserves all three nominations, but his only Oscar-worthy performance was in "What's Eating Gilbert Grape". I believe he was robbed that year.

  • I haven't seen Blood Diamond so I can't comment on his performance in that. I think he deserved it for The Aviator as well. His performance in What's Eating Gilbert Grape was wonderful though.

  • I dont know why he has not won an Oscar even after 3 noms....He deserves all three of it...

  • Im I crazy or did someone whistle the "you're so fine" whistle when Leo came out?

  • I know it's been a few years since Leo won this Gloden Globe for his performance in The Aviator. But, I just wanna say how proud & happy I am that Leo won a Gloden Globe for his performance in The Avaitor that year. I really love Leo's performance in The Avaitor/ I think his performance in The Avaitor is Outstanding.

  • Leo lost the Oscar to Jamie Foxx by only 5 votes. Had "Ray" come out any other year than "The Aviator," Leo would have won the Best Actor Oscar!

  • How doe you know he only lost by 5 votes?

  • he's amazing. the aviator was brill.. and mainly because of him. cate and kate were great too btw/

  • Jamie Foxx was good as Ray Charles but I think it was a more popular movie than The Aviator, because even though I'm not a huge fan of Leo he was absolutely amazing as Howard Hughes, great performace!

  • Aviator was better than Ray.

  • Yes it was.

  • somebody is hackin up a lung in the background noise haha

  • He likes to use "ultimately" lot, even in other interviews

  • I just noted that. so true lol.

  • im still waiting for leo to win an oscar he is a brilliant actor

  • @shantart88 i can't decide who i like more leo or johnny d.

  • @shantart88 I think he'll get it for J. Edgar.

  • oh I wanna watch the moment he was announced to be the winner...but I cannot find any...maybe it's been too long, like 4 years from now...

  • Leo was so great in this movie, he was ROBBED at the Oscars that year! No offense to Jamie Fox.

  • @smudgestick4 totally, and guess what? Jamie Foxx was never nominated again!

Oscars loves to give awards to black actors, Jennifer Hudson ring any bell? she was also never seen again.

  • @AstriaICOW thats because hollywood never gives oscars to those they should, they wait to give young actors their oscar even if they deserved it right then and there, so what you get are actors like Leo who go a long time without being awarded, because the academy chooses to give awards to those they feel have paid their dues. With Black actors they never give it to them at the actual time they deserve it, like Will Smith totally deserved one for Ali, but they waited sooo long to give Denzel

  • @AstriaICOW one and sooo of course Will lost. Its kinda a game with the Academy, its ironic. The Oscars are suppose to be a celebration and a ceremony where those who truly deserve a oscar are honored, but instead its a ceremony...as much as i love them...to play up token minorities, and honor aging legends, and film stars. Now I do think Jamie deserved just as much as Leo both gave brillant performances, IDK if you've seen Ray but Jamie portrayed him perfectly, he sang, played the piano, he

  • @AstriaICOW got his walk down and the Ray swing of side to side lol down. Jamie deserved the Oscar NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. Now Jennifer Hudson got her OSCAR as apart of a fluke, she won I swear because of that one song she sung. Hollywood and the academy wouldn't have to worry about giving someone like her a Oscar as a token if they actually honor minority actors when they deserve recognition like they do all their white counterparts.

  • @missym877 Sorry but after watching Ray I really didn't think he deserved it as much as leo. 1. Jamie, with the glasses, LOOK ALOT like Ray Charles, while Leo looked NOTHING like Howard Hughes so Leo's portrayal is much more challenging to pull it off. 2. Ray Charles' story is SO incredibly cliched, the whole "talented musician" went on drugs and a woman helped him etc etc. I can't believe they did the same story, same Oscar AGAIN to Jeff Bridges in Crazy Heart. 3. Aviator was a much more cont.

  • @missym877 inspirational story. It shows a man not only of talent but OF HARD WORK and passion that made him so. Both Ray and Crazy Heart showed very little of hard work and passion, just the winding-down drug life musicians like to cross BOOOORRRING.

Aviator should've won, hands down, both best picture and best actor.

But they gave to Black actors and a incredibly borring clint eastwood moving about the same old same old SPORTS!

    I hate the Oscar sometimes

  • @missym877 Jennifer Hudson won because of all the contraversy of American Idol behind her. If she were a brand new actress that nobody heard of she would've had far less chance. She's a singer not an actor. so she could sing emotionally, so what? that's not acting. And she froze on so many scenes not knowing what to do that I wonder if the Academy were blind.

  • @AstriaICOW good point about the cliches of Crazy Heart and Ray...It's just for me whether the actor looks like the person they are portraying or not, if they can get the walk, the talk, that raw emotion of that person to the screen and make it seem as if your watching the real thing, then thats amazing to me. Now I didn't see Crazy Heart, and I don't follow Jeff Bridges but if you ask me, it seems like typical Oscar, give the oscar to someone whose earned his stripes (now idk if Jeff has...cont

  • @AstriaICOW earned his stripes or not, because like I said I don't follow him too much, but thats Hollywood for you, they only give notoriety to the "all american," (white actors), creating most roles for white actors and actresses, and every once in awhile they will acknowledge a minority actor or actresses, and its almost like they are a token "minority" actor...As if Hollywood is trying to say "Hey we do endorse diversity in Hollywood!" Problem with this is, you end of with scenarios like...

  • @AstriaICOW Leo's where he should of one a Oscar, whether for Aviator is debatable, buttttt because Hollywood is not sooo diverse when it comes to honoring and offering good roles to minorities, they feel the need to create token minorities. So they wind up snubbing those who deserve to be awarded right then and there! And Idk about Jennifer Hudson winning because of the controversy surrounding Idol, I doubt anyone, let alone the Academy cares about some show that's a mere talent show

  • @missym877 the public's opinion counts for at least 20% of the votes, and Hudson had her fan base from American Idol, so yes, the Academy DOES care about "some talent show" it's just "some talent show" it's american idol, the most watch show on earth. probably many of the Academy members would at least follow what's up with the show, some may even be critics for it. So I still think the AI contraversy at least somewhat affected the award decision. Especially the contraversy was around face too.

  • @missym877 I meant "around race" sorry typo

  • @AstriaICOW she won because of the whole token minority thing...she won because she sung that song, and apparently the world is fooled into believing that's GREAT acting...I think the Academy and Hollywood is all about paying your dues...and unfortunately the Academy chooses to award those like say Jeff Bridges and older actors because they've been on the scene longer, and its a way to say thanks...idk sum b.s like that

  • @missym877 there's actually a study that showed that for men, it's the older actors that tend to win and about paying dues, but for women it's about one great performance by a YOUNG actress. I think the average age for men winning is like 39 and average age for women is 22.

  • @AstriaICOW wow interesting study...and we are just going to have to agree to disagree on the Idol thing...I cannot imagine anyone from the Academy carrying enough to honor a former American Idol contestant a Oscar just because a bunch of her fans were disappointed about how Idol carried her...but do you remember where you read the study, pretty interesting stuff.

  • @missym877 forgot the title but it's authored by a professor of mine: Dean Keith Simonton, who expertise in creativity in films. But I doubt you'll have access to it tho... maybe I can try to find it myself and send you a PDF if you are interested, let me know.

  • @AstriaICOW However Hollywood tends to overlook minorities (Memoirs of a Geisha) and then they feel the need to compensate by just handing off a Oscar to them...geeeeeezzz

Well Leo will be getting his Oscar very very soon, people say Inception but I don't think so, and don't get me wrong that movie is AMAZING but hopefully within these next couple of years he will be earning what he deserves

  • @smudgestick4 That year there was an insane competition. But even so, DiCaprio brought the most controversial performace. Jamie Foxx was amazing, as well as Don Cheadle. What the hell, even though I'm not a fan of Clint Eastwood's acting, but he deserved the nom too! BUT DiCaprio should have won because of all those times he clearly outstood other nominnes but was robbed ("What's Eating Gilbert Grape" especially). The only one who is as underrrated as Leo is could be Johnny Depp.

  • He won something here at least. I look forward to his upcoming roles, it wont be long till he wins an Oscar gong.

  • Al Pacino, for example, didn't get the oscar till 1991 for "Scent of a woman"... And he was nominated since the 70's for The Godfather...

    IMAGINE!

  • great actor I love leo

  • i agree. poor leo is such an AMAZING actor and i feel like he shud have won the oscar!! even tho jamie was brilliant as ray.

  • thanks, do you know where I can find his acceptance speech? and yea he should have won the oscar

  • He deserved this! GREAT film. Should've won the oscar, too. :(
