I wanted to see the wankel engine :-( Where did you get one and what does it look like on the cart? Does it perform well? Reliable? is this common? I have never seen a wankel engine up close. COol man :-)
i'm hoping to have a go in one of thoes soon maybe wilton mill. that track is daytona MK i love that place only been round it in a pro kart though but to put in to perspective a recpectable time round that track in one of their karts is 1.10's looks like you were doing 54's!! thats stupid!!
@TheCrashBrothers Well done; give yourself another pat on the back. Now what does this "comparison" prove? I presume it was scientific with drivers of similar ability, of the same weight, with the same tires, same tire wear and both with correct gearing.
One recommendation, though: Don't ever try an Aixro kart. You'd be amazed how your Biland feels afterwards.
It's a rotary engine wankel is the guy who designed it. It's a 4 stroke engine with basically a rotating triangle. One side is for intake, one for compression/combustion, and a third for exhaust. Rotary runs a shitload of rpm but the fuel efficiency is shit.
Well 3 or 4 depending on how you look at it. It combines compression and combustion. Yeah they make a lot of torque that's why they can run such small sprockets in the back.
Fool, have you ever studied steering geometry? Understeer is when you turn into a corner and the vehicle wants to go foward rather than turn and sledges into the corner, OVERSTEER is when the back slides out through corners. We use oversteer in karting.
It's actually pretty similar to a 2 stroke and not so much a 4 stroke. IDK abot these but the mazda's have oil injection for better lube hense burn oil and they have ports instead of cams and intake valves. Their power curves are much more 2 stroke then 4 stroke. long live the wankel
Does the Aixro have any compresion braking to speak of? Is it hard on brakes? I can see an advantage to NOT having too much compression braking as it tends to upset the balance on shifter karts coming into a corner.
It isn't my kart no, I just jumped in for a go. You're right, it didn't have the perfect gearing on but also be aware that this track is VERY tight. It was originally built just for corporate and hire events and is too small and tight for a fast race event really. Still, it's a very enjoyable circuit to drive...
bottom end looks and sounds like its dieing in this kart, i tested a aixro xr50 and it didnt seem like that atol on the track i was on, it was sounding like it wants to go 24/7,
4:02 for example, it seems, like its flooded. This your kart whats problem or the track?
The camera is called a GoPro HERO and it is the WIDE angle version with a 170degree view. Then on this video, the camera is on the suction mount which comes with the motorsport kit
hm, i have front hand brake so i dont have such a problem. but my friend is driving with ICC and he told me that brake balance set up is very hard to find.
Replied to your other comment Jason. Your video from Infineon is very good but as you say, the wide angle lens makes a big difference. On the cadet karts, the camera is mounted half way down the nassau panel but still manages to put their feet in view.
Yes I think so, it wasn't my kart. Chassis felt good though, it was just the brakes. At first the front brakes wouldn't stop with any power but then suddenly lock. I think with some more time adjusting it they'd work well.

good job positioning the camera. The problem I had was getting it setup so its not pointing 5ft ahead.

My teammate has one of those old Wankel engines in his garage, they are very cool. Hopefully we can get it running someday.

its basiccly a stroke engine...
a 2 stroke engine has alot of top end power(more speed at high rpms)
4 stroke has more power at low rpms
this kart has power at top and bottom

SpecPRDkarter 2 years ago
its not 4stroke you said
1Intake
2compression/combustion
3expansion/ exhaust
its a 3 cycle engine it makes 3 sparks to spin crankshaft twice
wankel engines are so efficient as 2 stroke
crazy high rpm with lots of power
and insane torque also

He adjusted the brake bias, because of too much oversteer under braking.

im a nascar guy is understeering where you back slides or does your car not what to turn
3Slipknot88 2 years ago
Understeering is when the car doesn't want to turn aka a poor handling car.
pokrmastr29 2 years ago
Or AKA you're driving in the rain =P
SpecPRDkarter 2 years ago
Hahah thats definitely true. Slicks and a wet track don't seem to work very well together

Why do these sound like 2 strokes? D: The XR50 is a 4 stroke isn't it?

It's really neither, for each full rotation of the rotor it makes power three times.
TKDWolf 2 years ago
no its a wankel-engine. it has nothing to do with a 2 stroke or 4 stroke engine...
