  • I've seen that at the 5th and 7th fret you only use 2 fingers. Should the index finger press 2 strings altogether?

  • @Leonhart217 Hey Mate, Yep, I do but only because I never learnt a different way. You can use three fingers if they are small enough.

  • @meguher Nope, the cover to the right there (travestees) is me. I do look a bit like him when I let my beard grow.

  • how to play with right hand

  • Thx .. This sounds accurate enough for me!

  • thanks, this was really helpful

  • i cant hear wwhat you saying nice one

  • @ArtandSole09 ur scum

  • @ArtandSole09 Turn up your volume.

  • Nice Job.. really well explained..cheers for that !!

Especially like the idea of numbering the frets, so that it's clear where you are on the fretboard. I think more tutors on youtube should adopt that one.

I kinda got out of the habit of learning other peoples songs, so it'd do me good to have a crack at this one... saw the film last week..it's a cracker !!

  • well done ! i like the music song so much . Thank you for sharing .

  • One of the best cover videos ever from the sound, technique, clarity of fretting, and close to the original. Bravo and thanks so much. I will share this with my guitar student and may lose him to you but that's what makes the world go 'round. Keep up the great work!

  • thnks a lot for this tutorial! too good! cheers!

  • Thanks so much for the tutorial. Watched the entire thing once, and now I got it. :) Gotta get the transitions down ( not normal chords for my hands and all ), but it was easily learned and well taught. Thanks again, mate.

  • Hard to understand what your doing with your left hand

  • THANK THANK THANK YOU!!!!!

  • E, B, E, G#, B, e

  • i could tell it was an open tuning. nice, well done.

  • I cant hear him talking, standered tuning?

  • open E

  • I like this tuning,it offers more posibilities

  • Great job mate...lots of help.

  • great video, alot of help cheers

  • you gotta make a left hand tutorial, its hard to tell what youre doing.

  • I keep getting this problem with when I play any chord where my finger will just barely touch a different string and itll end up muting it. do my fingers need to be more steep to avoid that or should I just strum harder to get rid of that anoying sound?

  • strumming harder most likely will make it worse get steeper.

if it doesn't help you are most likely not pushing hard enough.

if that doesn't help then something could be wrong with your guitars neck angle, or fret board.

  • Suuuuuuuuuuuuuper helpful! Thanks so much! Those fret markers are very helpful in communicating fret position and fingering.

  • thanks so much for sharing how to rather than just performing, i love this song and i can play it now

  • oh!!It's very~~!! hard...

But I can play falling slowly hahaha

  • Thanks a lot pal! I actually got the tab score from ultimate-guitar, but didn't know how to put my fingers on each flet. Thanx!

  • well now i've lost the link, haha, great job though

  • good job man. really close, but there are a few things that are a tiny bit off. I saw this guy who just put one up and he got it perfect! it's the exact way the guy from the movie plays it. check it out-

  • Thank you very much!

    Very good tutorial :-)

  • Good tutorial mate, helped me out big time! Thanks a lot for sharing.

  • Thanks dude- that saved me a whole lot of pain!

  • great. youre very patient, didactic and generous. thank you very much!!

  • great stuff mate

  • Thanks a lot, man!

  • ITS VERY HARD MAN ):

  • excellent effort, will give it a go.

    cheers mate

  • Many thanks, this is great, a huge help in figuring the tune out, must post my version of it, the one where your help proved invaluable.

  • thanks mate!!! All the chords are very well explained...I'm only having trouble with the tuning...Could you please reply and write down the tuning....thanks!!!

  • You can do it with open d and capo on 1st to bring it back to open e...your strings will be far less likely to break and there's much less strain on the neck.

  • Sorry, if you use open D then you'll have to put the capo on the 2nd fret for it to be open E, otherwise you're on open D#. It's true that it will put less strain on the neck and strings, but I've still found strings to break when tuning down, I think it's just the change in tension that strains them sometimes (not as much as tuning up though).

  • Hehe, thanks for correcting me, dunno why I wrote that. Hope I didn't confuse anyone! Yes, second fret I should have said.

  • Not a problem, I figured you knew what you were talking about but had a momentary lapse... I have them all the time.

Although seen him do it live in open E. I think with a capo sometimes it can stretch certain strings just a little and throw the tuning off by a tiny amount. Maybe it sounds better in open E. Give me a free moment and I'll tell you, I'm going to bed now.

  • Thank you. I like this song very much.

  • ah man trying to do that first little run feels like my wrist is gonna snap and my little finger is running wild! Tips?

  • When I play it 'live' I never put my little finger there for the same reason as you. 99.99999% of people would never notice and as it's an octave then it doesn't matter anyhow. (however...The more you try it, the easier it will become. You can try moving your thumb around on the back of the neck or tilting the guitar up a bit higher which makes it a bit more comfortable.) Hope this helps. Cheers Nick

  • would be good to get it down, will try moving my thumb around and tilting. Thank for the advice! :)

  • suck it up! Just kidding. It's tricky. I have large hands and its still hard for me.... keep at it and you're hand will get used to stretching like that.

  • i sucked it up and now can do it...xD go challenges!!!1!!

  • Awesome tutorial, you do a great job teaching the method, and your strumming pattern sounds almost exactly like the way Glen plays it. Such a beautiful song from an awesome movie. Thanks!

  • Great! Thank you so much!

  • Thank you! This was a wonderful instruction video. Great job teaching. I really was curious about how Glen did it, and this helped a ton.

  • haha i played this version at my talent show and won it. so ya.. thanks alot haha

  • thank you so much, it seems so much easier now so thank you!

  • Oh my God! Thank you SO much!

  • 2 things.

First, thanks very great at teaching the song, and a good song too.

    second.

Does anyone know how to play the Chorus part like glen does?

In this video he says glen plays that part different and i've watched a couple videos and he does play the 1st two chords of the chorus different than shown here,

i just cant figure out how it is played. does anyone know?

  • Hi Michael, thanks. I'm pretty sure the first chord is everything open apart from 12th fret on B string (but to be honest anything on 12th fret will do) and second chord is 13th on A string and 14th on D string with the rest open.

  • I actually think that it is just played on completely open strings... try it:)

  • This is great. Going to try playing this tomorrow, thanks!

  • You Said it to me Now - Thanks dook.

  • Thanks travestees!!!

    you r so great!!!

  • Thanks for this great lesson...I can now play it because of the video but still a work in progress for me....I have a favour to ask, could you put a lesson up for David Gray's...Shine..it also is in open E....need help with it and think you could do a great job with that song..thanks again !!

  • Hi, I'm not sure I know the song but will have a listen and let you know.

    Cheers Nick

  • Thanks Nick look forward to it...all the cover songs are great.

    Cheers from Toronto,

    John

We'd better start calling you the hammer.

    cheers

  • man... you're a geinous.. thanks... I could paraphrase another song by the frames... FINALLY :-)

  • It's probably beyond me right now, but "Once" inspired me to take up the guitar again, and working on this will keep me going. Thanks!

  • Thank you! i love it when people are genourous enough to make it easy for others.. that's really great.. and you do a great job which is just the icing on the cake

  • Thank you! i love it when people are genourous enough to make it easy for others.. that's really great.. and you do a great job which is just the icing on the cake

  • wow thank you so much. Great rendition. Keep playing more songs and telling us how to play them! haha. I don't know how you figured this out, but it's great work.

    Thanks!

  • yeah~how did you figure it out?

    you are the best!

  • that's great, thanks. is it the way it is played in the movie? (didn't see it)

  • Hi Mate, I've also not yet had the chance to see it, but I've seen him do various arrangements on Youtube. Incidentally, the outro, your fingers shouldn't be three frets apart, they should be in the same fret, with pinky on the B string instead of the G string.

  • thanks that's great

  • Yeah its played right at the start when he meets the Girl. Just got it on DVD so I'm going to watch it again tonight!!

  • Man i've been looking for these tabs everywhere. Thank you very much for posting it. Cheers from Texas.

  • MANY THANKS!

  • I don't know how many people asked you to show them how you play this song, but I'm really glad you did. Again, thanks a lot!!

    Cheers..

    Alain
