  • Just to bring up stuff from months ago

  • @mysteryloser24 if you pay attention to his clock you can see he doesnt speed up the video

  • I just switched from win7 to my favorit Ubuntu with gnome, and I was wondering if I shuld try any linux with KDE as well... But it apears to me, that with compiz fusion, the only thing that KDE offers me is, is transparent windows.

  • KDE is ugly, openbox is better and far more customizable

  • @DreamdoctorBL yeah, actually i think i am going to screw with it getting it running again.

  • is that object dock part of kde or of compiz?

  • @Blu0tuth0ninja that is plasmoid Smooth Tasks.

    h t t p : // kde-look.org /content /show.php /Smooth+Tasks?content=101586

  • @shagrahik thank you.

  • so the video is speed up or not?

Dont know if what mysteryloser24 said is true...

  • @cidcarioca yes. a little bit. but don't forget that video recording slows system too. so "-" and "-" give us "+" :D

  • that's not my fault anyway. gtk video recorder speeds up video for some reason

  • @cidcarioca yes it is

  • It's fast cause the video is sped up... No distro of Linux, or any other Operating System for that matter, is as fast as that...

  • @mysteryloser24 yeah, you're right :(

  • @shagrahik Arch Linux is quick though, there is no denying it. Just, not that quick.

  • @mysteryloser24 Depends on the computer, With a 3.8GHz Quad my computer is Just as fast on Ubuntu

  • @xXDarkice Don't compare Ubuntu with Arch. Ubuntu is aimed for n00bs and Windows users...

  • The allplan for CAD is a good software?

    Man arch linux is amazing!!

Love the video but I have some questions about:

How can I install compiz fusion with pacman?

Which video board are you using? ATI or NVIDIA?

I used to use opensuse and Ubuntu, is Archlinux most difficult to use than those distributions?

    Thanks a lot!

  • @cidcarioca h t t p : // wiki.archlinux. org / index.php / Compiz

there you can find everything about compiz installation in arch.

I use NVIDIA. And i think Arch Linux is actually very simple for desktop use. almost everything about installing/configuring arch you can find in their wiki page.

Finally about Allplan. I think any CAD system has it's own advantages. Allplan is userfriendly, but there's no for example such automation thing like Autolisp language in AutoCAD.

  • I've only stumbled across this video because I'm thinking of switching to Arch Linux. You just convinced me. Great setup you got there!!!

  • Im new to any Linux and BY FAR !!! this is the best Linux system of seen yet !!!

  • @JayandJenn07 true true . im getting a laptop to try linux for the first time and arch's principles are what lured me to linux in the first place! ~ customization and choice!! :)

  • arch linux i686 power !! and kde 4.3 is great !!

    LINUX ftw...

  • Is this "regular" KDE or KDEmod?

  • regular

  • KDE 4.3 FTW!!!

  • KDE 4.3.3 FTW!!! LOL.. :P

  • Comment removed

  • KDE is not K.I.S.S. Why shame arch with such a heavy, horrible, DE? Openbox FTW.

  • why not? its all about choices, plus hes showing compiz as well something I believe he wouldn't do with openbox.

  • does arch have a package installer or is it command line?

  • it has command line package installer - pacman

  • There is also a graphical frontend for pacman called Shaman.

  • i like it ..

    arch the best ;)
