cant make up my mind on this or the new msrx flybarless. got the msrx in the shop recently and it was stable but a fun challenge. this rex 100 is 20 bux cheaper n we got parts for both. basically the only thing that will break this tie is whether or not i can use this rex normal size radio for other apps. i can with the playstation-looking msrx rtf tx with bnf. i dunno how much it would cost to replace the electronics in the flybarless vs the rex. up to if the rex tx can carry over elsewhere.
Aren't we a bit beyond micro fixed pitch helis these days? Even the blade mSR was late in the game.. how about making a 250 with collective pitch that doesn't cost as much as a 500 to fly =)
have the nine eagles,msr,120sr ,and also t-rex 100 ,, i like the t-rex 100 and 120sr both best for their flightperformance ,,for beginners the msr is more crashproof ,but for skilled pilots the t-rex100 is fun indoors ,,it performs slightly better as its competitors
If you're going to get a fixed pitch micro heli, get the Nine Eagles Solo Pro, it's cheaper, and flies the same. If you want a variable pitch micro, get the blade mcpx, hands down the king of micros.
Parts aren't cheap on the mCPX, it's a money pit. $15 a pop per tail motor, $13 for a BRUSHED main motor, $70 for a complete servo replacement and $70 for the RX let alone $10 per battery. Nothing wrong with the heli, aside from being underpowered, tail blow outs and weak plastic parts, but make no mistake you will spend in the 1000's after a few hundred flights.
Align, why no gyro adjustment and trim settings saved on the TX with the Trex 100!? You need to lift your game.
@SentinelGames why would you need a whole new servo replacement? If you fried all 3 then get a new one. 1000's? weak plastic parts? I dont fly over a knife pit. I've flown my mcpx over a hundred times and crashed at least 40 times and broke nothing. spent nothing on fixes. tail blow outs happen to noobs who dont know collective management. anyway, a cheap BL upgrade fixes this. I have a 450, couple of 250s and countless micros. I wont even touch these anymore. mcpx is all I need
@Kidlat432 The mCP-X servos aren't very good and are highly prone to failure. So much so that they are out of stock all over the world. The motors aren't much better. I know quite a few people with the mCP-X, they love it and say it's an awesome little heli, but they are spending big $ on parts - not due to crash damage, due to premature failure. I can see it is a well designed heli and it flies okay for what it is, it's just unfortunate that the electronics are sub par.
Based on this video, my choice is the E-Flite Blade mCPX all the way! It's an awesome and durable bird! Parts are cheap, plus i have a ton of options with my DX8 Tx. But, nice try Align! Your bird doesn't look as responsive in the video. I hope it's just the video. With that, I will say, I do want to get the Align T-Rex 450 Pro as soon as I can complete all the 3D tricks with the mCPX. Stick with the big birds Align. Peace.
I have flown the t-rex 100 and the msr and they both fly pretty much the same but align wins this one based on price and contents of package..sorry e-flight.
Blade appears to be the front runner in micro helis. Check out the Blade MCP X that can be flown 3D indoors even! Search youtube: HorizonHobby Review - Blade mCP X.
Alan, with all due respect to your super talented skills, you had to go out into a bigger room in this video, but the guy in the Horizon Hobby video is doing the 3D in a small office space!
I couldn't disagree more with the comment below about Align products being marginal. I have own a variety of RC helis over the years, and the Align models I own compete exceptionally well with every one of them in terms of quality.
That having been said, at first glance, this T-Rex 100 is not terribly impressive. I see nothing here that would make me want to run out and buy one.
It's $118 for the standard combo and $136 for the super combo. Difference being super combo includes a twin lipo charger and 4 x AA rechargeable batteries for the TX. The standard combo does not have the lipo charger and includes regular AA batteries.
You can charge AA's from the TX via a mini USB port. You can also charge 1 x lipo from the TX too, either via mains power (through mini USB) or via the AA's.
@IWillBeTRexPilot I wouldn't call it crap, it is a trex after all. It represents the fact that align is going after eflite in the micro heli market. Is there any word on price yet? I would like to replace my blade msr.
These Micro heli's are impossible to work on. If the boards go out then you either need a microscope or throw it away. I would AT-LEAST get a Trex 250 if you want a smaller Heli. Unless you have to have an indoor one, then this is fine or the Blade MSR will last.
i wonder if the head of 3g version can pop on this one too ,,and with swap of 5in1 rx ,maybe release is taking so long ,because they are going to surprise us with the 3g version instead of the fp ones ,,maybe they listened to us : )
I wish it could do some 3D like the Blade mCP! You could then use it as a little hover machine to get used to the basics, and then be able to try out 3D tricks. It would be nice knowing repairing the machine wouldn't cost much!
mCP-X is still a toy, albeit a seemingly cool one. Brushed motors that won't last, an all-in-1 receiver (that costs $70 to replace!) with linear servos (that will also break quickly & easily) and all plastic. Oh, and the manual declares a 3 minute flight time on the tiny battery. It's a toy, and an expensive one.
@SentinelGames blah blah blah another whiney cynic with nothing to offer for comparison. Stop being so jealous and build/find something better. Or just build a time machine to make the impossible leap to the future....or just stop whining.
@SentinelGames good greif. you can't be serious. Who's whining? YOU ARE.
Who really cares about how good Align is in every other helicopter, when the whole subject of debate is who has the better micro helicopter at this point? It's obviously not Align with this MSR clone! Align makes great shit, but your total fanboyism to blind your logic on an apples to apples comparison of helis is hilarious. Until Align or anybody has something better than the MCP X, shut up. Nobody wants your cynicism.
@Thrashaero - Seems to me you're the one who's whining. I'm excited that a company such as Align have decided to enter the micro market, so what, why shouldn't I be? E-Flite don't do it for me, they cost too much outside of the USA, their electronics don't last and they don't make decent CP helicopters. Align do, so my money is on them having the better product. If you think I'm being cynical, don't read my comments or visit a video for a product that doesn't interest you.
@SentinelGames well i always thought that Alings heli are good but not great there good for the price and avalibility of spares but there are much better built helis and brands they just cost more...
Becouse of the fair prices and avalibility of kits and spares more people tend to go with Align than any other brand not becouse there the best heli's around becouse there not.
Align give me a break, quit copying from Eflite your a day late and a dollar short. Its called a MSR, Do U think just because Alan Szabo is on the bird its going to sell.
Gimme a Break it makes me want to walk the other way.
Yes the mCP X looks cool, but it is in a different category.
The Trex 100 is a single rotor, fixed pitch heli, designed for beginners.
The mCP X is a single rotor collective pitch heli, designed for advanced users. Many beginners will buy it thinking that they can fly it, and will face a harsh realisation.
I think the Trex 100 will still do well in regions where E-Flight helis don't exist (Asian markets) or are overpriced. E.g. in my country an RTF MSR is over $100 more than a Trex 100.
Type in this exactly... E-flite Blade MSR - Indoor flying and my vid comes up at the top of the list, he should be flying like me in my vid, not fart-arsing around with it
Same price as the Msr but maybe better quality. I have to replace my Msr but I can use my DX7 for the Msr I have to use Aligns Tx for this and I can buy a replacement Msr for $89 US.
In response to the "MSR/Solo Pro rip-off" comments - I think you're all missing the point here. The T-Rex 100 is aiming to be an MSR/Solo Pro with the design flaws taken out. I think that the MSR/SP are fine helicopters but they still have a lot of problems, if the T-Rex 100 can eliminate most of these, that's a good thing. A lot of people are fond of the MSR, and are criticising the T-Rex 100, which may well be a big improvement over the MSR. I don't see the problem with the T-Rex 100.
@SentinelGames if they wanted to improve the designflaws ,,im missing the cf frame and double brushless motors, metal swashplate ,,those added would have made it a great upgraded solo pro ,align solo pro v3 ,,
@bassax7045 The Solo Pro in the deluxe case is not a standard package mind you. The Solo Pro also comes in a cardboard box unless you spend the extra money and get the deluxe edition.
The Tres 100 will also have a case available, similar to the one for the Trex 250, which is much nicer than a generic aluminium case with poorly cut foam as the Solo Pro has.
@matthew198411 I use Google Chrome which automatically translates sites for me. Another way to do it is to go to 'translate dot google dot com/' and copy/paste text into there, it will translate for you.
Interesting that they didn't go with a brushless tail motor. Wish the TX had more advanced options, but it still has a nice LCD screen with digital adjustments, battery level indicators, mode switch-able and a convenient charging system.
Release date is supposed to be first week of February, 2011.
RRP is around $120.
Comes with heli, TX, rechargeable batteries for TX (AA's) and probably some spare parts and a lipo or two for the heli. You charge via the TX with a mini USB charger (pretty common).
msr ripoff? why does everyone think E Flite was the first with these micros? The Micron was the first 4 channel of this size back in 2005 but was way too pricey. It was soon followed by the Walkera 4#3 back in 2007 and soon after a bunch of micros came out way before the msr
Looks great for what it is: A micro FP 4ch entry level helicopter. If it outperforms the MSR at a fraction of the cost, which appears to be the intention, then hell yeah I'm impressed.
It doesn't need to be 3D, it's Align's attempt at breaking into the beginner's market, good for them.
And why shouldn't Align build a heli that aim's fof the micro market? It's where most of us started! It's not an MSR rip off, but it's Align opening the market for begginer's, and parts will always be cheaper than E-Flight! Thumb's up from me! :-)
Totally cool fixed pitch heli! I did not know that Allign made a FP! Reminds me of the MSR! Thanks for sharing bud. Happy holidays to you and yours friend!
Hey they could have cloned the GAUi "Pixy Zap" which is a true CP 100 heli and with the servos and lipos they got nowadays it would rock. After looking at the 700E this thing is a big diiapointment and I am an Align Lover
@schubimz not at all. the msr flies like shit outta the box. this however dosnt. if you were an experienced pilot you would know this. have you flown both? probably not. so fly them both stock and then comment!!
@HeliFreak250 look at the date of my comment and the release date of the heli. My comment was a first impression regarding a promotional video for an unreleased product, not a product test. I'm happy that you like your T-Rex 100 but please take a moment to think first if you feel the need to criticize others...
@schubimz All the videos that I have seen of this little heli have music in them and there are no true reviews. It looks like the head is exactly like my MSR and this heli is slower on the piroette rate, slower in forward flight, seems to have the toilet bowl effect more than the msr and the way the battery sits in there looks stupid. Not to totally bash Align products ( I have a trex 450 and love it) but it is just my observation that align could have done better with this one.
Sadly, I think this is one setup backwards for Align. You were designing wonderful and original helis for a long time... But now a copy of a Eflite MSR and JR 11X. Come on!
Also Align disgraced the name of Trex with a FP heli. I wished a different name like R-tor100.
But Align still the best OFC. I won't even think to buy another heli. But don't do this again, just for money, you need work on the image more.
@Wills2084 Idk but I need 4 more trex's to complete my collectionsince these gerks came out with new stuff lol. Trex 450 sport, Trex 100, Trex 550E, and Trex 600
@bassax7045 It's not their choice - the BNF things are from say E-Flite, which is a division of HORIZON HOBBY... As is Spektrum. Hangar-9, E-Flite, Parkzone and Spektrum are all divisions of Horizon Hobby, and that is why they all 'inter connect'.
du hast es ja voll im griff.

SentinelGames 1 year ago
Release date is supposed to be first week of February, 2011.
RRP is around $120.
Comes with heli, TX, rechargeable batteries for TX (AA's) and probably some spare parts and a lipo or two for the heli. You charge via the TX with a mini USB charger (pretty common).

Also comes with simulator cable/software.

msr ripoff? why does everyone think E Flite was the first with these micros? The Micron was the first 4 channel of this size back in 2005 but was way too pricey. It was soon followed by the Walkera 4#3 back in 2007 and soon after a bunch of micros came out way before the msr
Kidlat432 1 year ago
Looks great for what it is: A micro FP 4ch entry level helicopter. If it outperforms the MSR at a fraction of the cost, which appears to be the intention, then hell yeah I'm impressed.
It doesn't need to be 3D, it's Align's attempt at breaking into the beginner's market, good for them.

Is this a violation of copyright? Eflite blade mSR alike. I think that Eflite should suite Align for compensation...

Whats the retail price of these going to be? Will they offer a bind and fly version? When will they be available? Thanks for the upload Alan.
redrumm101 1 year ago
Hey Alan why didn't you guys make it 3D capable like the heli-max novus CP?
orangefit07 1 year ago
Way too many options from competitors of the likes of walkera, and they even have 6ch flybarless at that size. Not a good market sector to focus on.
oysterlicker 1 year ago
And why shouldn't Align build a heli that aim's fof the micro market? It's where most of us started! It's not an MSR rip off, but it's Align opening the market for begginer's, and parts will always be cheaper than E-Flight! Thumb's up from me! :-)
damiana9015 1 year ago
Totally cool fixed pitch heli! I did not know that Allign made a FP! Reminds me of the MSR! Thanks for sharing bud. Happy holidays to you and yours friend!
georgesjunglerc 1 year ago
Not impressed sorry.
Looks like a rip-off of mSR, Solo Pro etc.
An Align-Quality 6 channel micro heli would have been nice.

@schubimz Lol Align and Quality shouldn't be used together in a sentence :P
girrocks12345 1 year ago
Hey they could have cloned the GAUi "Pixy Zap" which is a true CP 100 heli and with the servos and lipos they got nowadays it would rock. After looking at the 700E this thing is a big diiapointment and I am an Align Lover

jsugar72 11 months ago
@schubimz not at all. the msr flies like shit outta the box. this however dosnt. if you were an experienced pilot you would know this. have you flown both? probably not. so fly them both stock and then comment!!
HeliFreak250 11 months ago
@HeliFreak250 look at the date of my comment and the release date of the heli. My comment was a first impression regarding a promotional video for an unreleased product, not a product test. I'm happy that you like your T-Rex 100 but please take a moment to think first if you feel the need to criticize others...
schubimz 10 months ago
@schubimz All the videos that I have seen of this little heli have music in them and there are no true reviews. It looks like the head is exactly like my MSR and this heli is slower on the piroette rate, slower in forward flight, seems to have the toilet bowl effect more than the msr and the way the battery sits in there looks stupid. Not to totally bash Align products ( I have a trex 450 and love it) but it is just my observation that align could have done better with this one.
PC9JEFF 11 months ago
hmm....could be something like the 4G6, a micro sized with 6ch, i would be the first one to buy it =D

YupHio 1 year ago
Sadly, I think this is one setup backwards for Align. You were designing wonderful and original helis for a long time... But now a copy of a Eflite MSR and JR 11X. Come on!
Also Align disgraced the name of Trex with a FP heli. I wished a different name like R-tor100.
But Align still the best OFC. I won't even think to buy another heli. But don't do this again, just for money, you need work on the image more.

...spero per Align che sia una bufala...perché questo giocattolo è penosamente idenico al MSR e certo non ne sentivamo la necessità.
I hope that this is a fake. Align did not need this toy. This is equal to the MSR. Indeed ... this is just a MSR with changed decals.
