You shouldn't have any problem with watermarks unless you have another screen protector on under the otterbox screen protector. I had an otterbox for my iPod touch with a screen built in, and I took off the screen protector I had to put it on the right way and I didn't have a problem with watermarks
happened to me, i got a ZAGG invisible shield anti-glare screen protector, now it doesnt leave water marks and i guess i get 2x screen protection. The screen is no less sensitive either.
I don't get why he said he was making people cringe when he wiped the phone with his his shirt. That's a perfectly reasonable and effective method of cleaning.
and btw any screen cleaner will be safe for iphone screens just make sure theres no grit or grains on your screen or on your cloth (youd be suprised) also make sure its alcohol free just incase
THANK YOU!!! i have a iphone 4 aegis snap front and back case and this worked for it !!! NOTE if this doesnt work for you try and leave the screen abit damp dont completely wipe the liquid off!!!
take a pea sized ball of Barbasol shaving cream and clean only screen area of phone and inside of otterbox lens just wipe off shaving cream with a clean dry cloth, reassemble otterbox and there will be no air bubbles. Do not get the shaving cream on any part of the phone but the glass, this is also great for cleaning glasses...
Your gorgeous which isn't something I would normally say to someones the Internet. Not only were you helpful you got me wondering why I haven't met any cute nerdy types.
hey thanks a lot man. i have the iphone 4 otterbox and i had like 10 watermarks that were really annoying me and i used the glasses cleaner and it worked perfectly THANK YOU
was just about to put baby powder on my phone before I seen this (actually youtube searched baby powder fix). Decided to give this a try and what do you know it worked! I used a tv screen cleaner (got it free at hh greg with my new tv) and it not only cleans every finger print prone device I have, but it took care of the water mark on my 3gs.
I also got an iPhone 4, loved the otterbox defender so much that I bought another white one for it. This watermark problem is already solved on the defender for iPhone 4, tried and tested it first hand. If you still experience the problem, it could be if you have screen protector on. My ip4 doesnt have a screen pro on, our other ip4 has a anti glare screen pro and also in a defender, both no watermark problem.
The anti-glare/matte screen protector is really the best solution... Some says that applying glass cleaner products/alcohol on the iphone screen could probably damage it's coatings. Experience this watermark problem on my 3gs defender before, I wasn't that bothered so I kept up with it for couple of months, but when I learned about the matte screen pro solution, gave it a try, it really does the job... permanently!
@randomrazr There's newer, better versions of the defender case, but people still have the older case who still run into this issue. This is not a moot case.
even the newer cases have the water mark problem. got one like 1 week back on October first week. thx for the upload, helps me alot. was about to buy a baby powder n thx again for the tip. i'm going to use the lcd screen cleaning liquid . hope it works

Worked perfectly. I used the cleaner on a microfiber cloth instead of spraying directly on the phone, but I have had no problems, looks great! Thanks for taking time to make the video.
You can use almost anything to clean the screen of the otterbox and iphone screen. then use a blow dryer on a low setting dry off both the otterbox screen and the iphone screen. Keep the blow dryer about 12" away from each and it doesn't get very hot at all. Do this for a minute or so. Then when you put the otterbox case together there will no NO bubbles at all. I used windex to clean my iphone and otterbox screen. Worked perfectly on both phones I tried it on.

The problem with using alcohol, and glass cleaner is that you may remove the "oleo-phobic" treated surface of the iphone screen. Then you may be more susceptible to fingerprints when not using the otterbox. I personally hate any films over my iphone screen. I will try the babypowder fix, as it looks easiest.
you know that baby powder is ultra fine and will not scratch the screen but this is a good alternative alcohol swabs work better will remove all oils on the screen little tip before you use the solution
This is probably the best case anyone could get. So many of my friend's have cracked their screens pretty bad in the past, should have had an Otterbox! Worth the money because you're not going out and buying new phones. Sadly enough I use my bronzer to keep the air bubbles out. Your way seems efficient though!
Sorry. I don't believe this is a solution. I cleaned my iPhone and Otterbox meticulously with the very same solution you are holding up (Hilco's). Within a few hours the problem was back. It isn't dirt/oil causing the problem. The static returns.
Much simpler way! Now chemicals or anything! Just squeeze the sides! The name of the video is "Removing the Air Bubble on an Otterbox"... posted by "powersitedesign"
man tissue works the best just blot the inside of the plastic case put the iphone in it take the iphone back out wipe off the iphone screen to get the excessive lint off put it back in case and problem solve works perfectly
Cornstarch worked for me. You can apply it to an anti-static cloth then wipe it onto the screen (and the inside of the box) so that it doesn't get all over the place (like into ports).
hey guys, i really love this case as well but i figured out something that really works. i dont like flour or baby powder or other screen protectors, i woke up this morning and i tried stick deodorant on the case screen and rubbed it in really well. it looks a bit cloudy but there is no orange peel look, no flour underneath the screen. rub it in well and its invisible, and no watermark!!!! =]
it didnt work much at all man...it reduced the watermarks a tad but then like one min into messing with it, the same old watermarks again. i used the exact same stuff that you used
ok, hours after I tried this method it eliminated 90% of the bubbles, eventually an extremely small spot might form, but its 100 times better then what it was. Before I used the spray my screen looked like a rain puddle, now it just looks like a really really small smudged fingerprint, def more bearable to deal with, almost abandoned this case but now i think ill continue to use it.
guys this shit works. You guys must be using the wrong stuff. You have to get the spray that comes with the glasses kit. The spray also comes with a white little cloth to use. I just sprayed 1 squirt on the inside of the case and just reused the same cloth and wiped the phone. I didnt even spray it again on the phone, just used whatever was left over on the cloth from when I wiped down the case. And no water marks. Thanks alot man I appreciate it.
The watermark effect happens because some, but not all, of the plastic shield on the otterbox makes direct contact with the iPhone screen. All you have to do to get rid of it is pick up a pack of screen protectors and apply one, then install the otterbox over top of it. No powder or solutions needed, and the watermark effect is gone!
k, since i got the case, and tried this, it lasted only for a little while (results probably vary with different eyeglass cleaners) so i just decided to get the Power Support Antiglare film and put that on the iphone before putting it into the defender case. that works 100% perfectly plus if you do ever take the phone out, the screen is protected.
The value of an iPhone with scratches is going to be worth more when you consider how much money people spend on accessories trying to protect it from scratches
The thing is that I got a case for way more than just scratch protection. I've already had some pretty bad falls for the iPhone while it's in this otterbox case, and it is still 100% without breaking the back or damaging the volume rocker or the vibrate switch. Everything is in perfect condition, and if I didn't have this case, or some other case, I definitely would have a damaged phone, that would have likely needed repairing. So I'm happy I got it :)
@thephilmaster Thanks, this works for me too. I got a PhoneDevil matte screen protector under the OtterBox screen, and it is still sensitive to light swipes and touches. I didn't think it would work this well. No bubbles or "water marks" on my iPhone 3GS!
k i just got the case. and did this. i have to say that so far, it works, but then stops after just a tiny bit of use. i'm gonna keep trying it out, and hopefully one of these times it will stay.
It's static between the glass on the iPhone and the plastic of the Otterbox what is creating the watermark. Using powder changes the static charge. I agree, i'd never put powder on my iphone. stupid...

I found another easy way to get rid of the watermarks.
Get a small bowl of warm water & add a small amount of dish soap. Moisten
A block of paper towel in the bowl (not too wet) and wipe your phone screen
& the inside of your otterbox. Then get a hairdryer & set it on low to dry the inside of your
otterbox and your phone screen. Keep the hairdryer about 1 foot away for about 1 minute.
No more watermarks.
