@19iCeman09 well, considering he was my iguana, I know what he did and did not like. just because YOU think he doesn't do that because he is a reptile instead of a cat or dog, doesn't make you right. he IS in fact closing his eyes because he LIKES it..
I'm so sorry he passed away...I know that must have been so sad. I just lost my bearded dragon (12-18-11), who would have been 5 this spring...It's been rough. Most people think "Oh, it's JUST a lizard", but anyone who has owned a well-trained, attention-loving reptile, KNOWS what wonderful companions that Iguanas and beardies can make.
At least you will always have happy memories or your Iguana, as I will of my bearded dragon...may they both rest in peace.
@dslgunner1977 U r SO right i have a bearded dragon.....not doin well....his heart....is messed up......its gonna b soon i can already tell.....as a forthought though.....R.I.P. Spikes-His heart couldnt hold on.
@MinecraftMovies1001 My beardie did struggle with some health problems too...she was actually a few weeks away from having her 6-month check-up at the vet, when she died...I would give anything to be able to go back in time and take her to the vet one month early :(
If the vet can't do anything, the best thing *you* can do is spend every moment of free time with him, that you can. Give him lots of love and attention, and you will always have those happy memories.
@dslgunner1977 Wow thnx that real nice of you :) Thnx for the encouragement and trust me if i could i would help ya go bak in time.......I hate it when i cant do anything. Its like sitting and waiting for a truck to hit you. I know how you feel ive had 2 dogs that had issues. They were both my BEST frnd. One even barked and ran to get help when i fell and was bleeding real badly. She got a tumor and she was suffering a lot so she was put to sleep. The other one had cancer. RIP Max and Brandy..
@killerluuk I doubt the Iguana felt he was being "patronized", that's just how many people talk to their pets to comfort them - kind of like how you might talk to a new-born. The animals (or a new-born, for that matter) obviously can't understand the words we say, but they can absolutely understand the tone of our voice.
We had a wonderful bearded dragon for nearly 5 years; my wife always babied her and talked to her like this, and she grew up to be the sweetest, most loving beardie ever!
@dslgunner1977 Lol im happy for ya guys, just from my point of vieuw I dont see why ya have put on a childish dumb voice ;) just as with kids U say...I and lots of other poeple get annoyed by the fact people talk like that to kids, so childish and patronizing :P
@killerluuk Totally understand where your coming from, it can be annoying to people around you. I think it's OK to talk to a pet or a newborn baby who is too young to understand words (though I personally don't talk that way, that's the wife's department). I don't think it would be right to talk to an older kid in "baby talk" because that would be quite patronizing ;)
I guess my point is: I can see why people talk this way to comfort their pets because the animal can't understand human words.
@moonstardance something tells me that if Flip is 4 years old, he isn't quite as big as Mr. Wizard ;) Mr. Wizard reached the age of 12 and was just shy of 6 feet. :)
What an impressive man! How long did he live? I'm not looking forward to losing our girl, Jimmy (who was named before she proved she was a girl!). She's about 12 now, very sweet, gets on the couch for her salad to be hand-fed to her, pets, etc. I love her so.
I wonder if they really enjoy being petted, I mean he looks far too satisfied when she scratched his large cheeks, probably his extra spare of testicles :D
In a porn store they had one free, he liked being petted on the head and face area, why is that?
@applepie1069 there probably the most difficult lizard to take care of. if ur looking for "easy" get a leopard gecko. and even they need alot to take care of them
how old was him when he passed away? He looks so tamed. I heard male iguana became aggressive when fully mature especially in mating season (hint; when their body turn orange)...is that true? I have doubts about this issue that is why Im not keeping one but Id love to have one though...
@borap26 like what do u mean aggressive did he bite cuz i wanna get one for my family and i dont want it runnin arround biten my wife or kids that r over
yes they feel touch, you can see here the way he moves his body that he can feel me petting him.. :) They take A LOT of work to become as friendly as Mr. WIzard here was. Mnay are not handled enough and can be quite nasty. But handle them enough and they are very seet.
my iguana is too so as Mr.Wizard xD but my iguana is too RELAXED he is sleeping or just sitting in the Bath tub and eating Brokoli or Apples and relaxing xD
omg he wass soooooooo friendly i know hes gone now but i love him haha. what is the secret to make them so friendly i used to have one but he got to much sunn:\ i want aanother and i might get one.
dam when they drink like that that means they are ill. im often go to vet that hawe iguana and she tells me alot abaut them ... didnt you know that they dont drink like that ??? when they eat they take water from food its bad that he drinked like that
Ahh. There's my problem, my dragons never pay attention to the spoken word. They're smart and can hear when someone is coming up the drive long before I do (I've unusually sharp hearing) but they won't listen to people-noise: lots of people in this house! My pair have only tried to bite me once, babies testing the limit, and got a mouthful of food instead; they never tried it again. Mr. Wizard was certainly a bright beastie - it's great to see such a good example of respect encouraging respect.
What a beautiful reptile. I have a lot of respect for true iguana keepers - I'm well aware they get VERY big and some can have nasty tempers. Wizard looks a right softie there! I watched some of your other videos, and I'd love to know - how did you get him to come on command? I've taught my dragons a few simple tricks (how to use climbing slopes, etc) but I'd like to go further.
I would give him food and use his name and eventually he associated the two together just like a cat or dog. But Mr. Wizard was not your average iguana, he was extremely smart and so wonderfully docile! :) He never hit me or ever tried to bite me. In fact, I scared him once and he opened his mouth at me and just for curiousity's sake, i stuck my hand in his mouth and all he did was lick me and not shut his mouth until I took my hand out.
aww, i miss my iguana. he used to lean into my hand when i pet him too.
i got him when i was little, but my parents didnt understand the responsibilities of an iguana when they bought him for me, so we had to give him away when he got too big :(
My Iguana does that too. She leans into my hand when I pet or rub her, and if I open her cage, she closes her eyes and leans toward me to ask for scratches. Mr. Wizard was beautiful, I'm sorry he left you.
He was so very expressive. I never knew that reptiles could have such personalities (until I got my turtles!)
