murderer!! what the hell is wrong with u?......haha i respect the ancent trees too, but unsafe is unsafe. great vid, and sweet saw. avid feller myself. Id be really mad if my house was built out of dead rotten wood. Your houses and garages came from healthy, live trees people. and same with all that paper you use! alot of good men and women risk their lives every day for you!!!! Keep up the good work. America and the rest of the world depend on you. be safe my friend
people are so stupid all them tree huggers think trees get cut down for the fun of it! second growth needs a chance to grow! most of this wood gets cut into wood to make ur houses!
Yes - there's middle ground between the 2 extremes. Posting comments of 'why you cut good tree down' does not mean you are environmentally friendly and helping the planet. Get the facts first, what was the situation? Where did the wood go? etc.
@theBLC420 Read the description you dumb. The tree is dead or dying and in danger of falling down and killing an ignorant stupid no common sense tree hugger. When and if you have a loved one die you don't bury the dead body? Or do you leave it at your house to rot?At least a tree is put to good use.
Please read the below comments. Tree was struck by lightening 10 years ago and had started to split. Why don't you research things first before posting such an ignorant and poorly informed comment?
so that back cut looks to be pretty much all the way through how much gas did u put on that desiel what year/type of truck and or hp/torque does it have? i know u were hittin about 3.5 rpm at the end before it snapped. i do alot of ground work for my buddy and am curious what diamter rope/material/rated lbs or in metric did u you use. we have felled lots of stuff nothing Quite as large diamter as this but u never know i am eager to hear your answers thanks.. wall of text for the win nice fell!
I think you did a first-rate job there. A 72 inch bar? are you kidding me? I have a friend and business associate who has some Stihl 084s with 48 inch bars and I don't even like to carry those saws! Nice work and nice vid.
how much does that bar weigh?? as i got a 6 footer i run on my 090s and it is a lot more solid and has less bend than that bar but it weighs nearly 30 pounds
Looks pretty fun really. Just recently went out to cut some oak on my family's ranch and its not as easy as it looks on these logging shows to get the tree to lay down where you want it to. Nice job. I wish we had trees the one in the video here in Texas.
I understand what you're saying. However there was plenty of planning as to where the sink/gob cut was to be placed. And there is plenty of holding wood in the hinge. The tree came down exactly as planned. The smaller saw would in no way be capable of completing the sink cut by itself. The tree was to be milled and the person wanting the timber wanted the buttresses intact. This meant the sink cut had to be placed where the tree measured more than 6ft across.
@alaskanmilluk you don't need a super long bar to fall big trees.. on the coast of British Columbia, we fall trees over 10 feet in diameter with a 42" bar all the time.. lots of videos on here that show it done..
I appreciate that you can use smaller bars. The long bar was used here more for an experiment rather than practicality. There is too much flex in this long a bar to use for felling.
You need to keep the bottom of dead level, not sloping toward the holding wood. Face would have been cut better cut with the smaller saw. With un know core wood a large hinge is needed. I see no use of any hinge wood to keep the tree from sliping off the stump prematurely.
@highcountrytimber 72 inch bar plus the other saw to help pre-cut before diving in with a 50lb saw. seems well placed and all cuts looked very thought out and it landed excactly were they placed the brush (as planned) so what the heck else would there be that might of not been right?. i missed it you south border now tree at all left wana be high-cunt-try "timber" guy

@mitza1126 if its dangerous it needs to go!!
He said it was struck by lightning and had split this = lost of dead wood falling off it, and a tree that size will drop some huge branches

Actually, whether you're in the south of England or anywhere else in the world, "felling" is the right word for making a tree "fall" down

As to what I mean pertaining to this tree is uneven slopy face. Also lacking any sort of solid holding wood.
