You wouldn't want to put in"Lowest gear" but the "Smallest gear".

Smallest (rear)gear means highest and that's what she did.

Don't be afraid to get dirty!! I never shift before removing. I just remember which cog it was on.

I just changed the rear tire on a electric scooter, talk about a pain in the ass!

to take a rear wheel off, you should shift it into the HIGHEST** gear, aka smallest cog, which is what she did. just pointing out the little flaw
