When you record in a legit studio, you actually play the drums. The producer will select another sound that he has saved on his computer to dub over your own drum sound. Unless your kick sounds better. He also makes sure that your hits are perfectly on time and moves them into place so that they are. Its not cheating, they have to be almost perfectly on time in the first place. But to make the song sound good they have to be spot on. Drummers do play all of their own shit though.

@drummerboi14 dude thats called a gravity blast look it up....the technique behind that is that you teeter the drumstick on the rim of the snare so that it pops off of the drum head on its own with little pressure.....its getting really common in deathmetal and technical deathmetal especially
