  • Don't start a McUnion unless you want to keep you McJob.

  • They are lying, I know at my nephews school in the US, they have "Burger King" days as well as "McDonald's" just google Mcdonalds in schools and you'll see the truth

  • WTF This was obviously edited by Mcdonald's employee.

  • I want to hear the ending! Stop repeating!

  • Mcshite, Mcmurder, Mccapitalism, the list goes on and on!

  • @litlemadguitarist

Sounds like youre a Mclibtard. Don't support McDonalds? Don't buy their burgers dumbass.

  • I'm ganna go to mcdolad's

    this clip made me hangreeeeeee

  • mcdonalds definitely went into this argument unprepared. where did they get this guy. mcdonalds does have a few points but went you look at this from a cognitive behavioral point of view there advertising is trying to brand children and get people children to establish an anti social behavior while in the store itself causing them to by more. Furthermore, mcdonalds is avoiding questions that he knows he cant answer because they would have dire consequences for the industry and his paycheck

  • But the kids aren't ordering their food..it's the parents..if a kid has never been to mcdonalds because their parents are wise enough to know its bad for their kids then there would be no problem.

  • Schlosser is KILLING this guy! At least when he is allowed to speak....

  • mcdonald's - 0

    schlosser - 1

    PWNED!

  • The only reason people like Schlosser are important is because the general public is just completely stupid. No one in their right mind would ever eat at McD's, and the only way that they'll change their menu is when there's demand...and that demand is created by publicizing the downfalls of McD's by guys like this.

The irony? Guys like Schlosser are against guys like McD's molding minds to do things...yet that's what he's doing, too. C'est la vie.

  • No you couldnt turn on your tv or radio, and get any pprogramming without advertisers liker mcdonalds

  • Once again, the true ideology behind Schosser and Pollan is not food, but anti-corporatism. They use a romantic view of agriculture mixed with simplistic schemes to accomplish their anti-corporate agenda. Its clever to say the least, but it's at least as dishonest as McDonalds advertising.

  • Sure MD has made all the 'healthy alt' but wht other shit do they put in this 'healthy shit'; bottom line, MD sux balls

  • The repeating is annoying

  • why repeating? why?

  • wow, this brit is a horrible debater

  • Agreed, it is absolutely painful to hear him speak

  • And that doesnt include the softdrink, fries or other misc items you might consume in a single sitting. SOMETHING needs to happen. Because right now the US is by FAR AND AWAY the fattest country in the world. I dont think the government needs to control how much we do it but the quality of the food in fast food needs to change and people need the facts in front of them to make good descisions.

  • They should have the nutrition info. on the carton that each item is packaged in. Just one of those $1 double cheeseburgers contains 440 calories 23 grams of fat 11 grams of saturated fat 1150 grams of sodium(salt) 34 carbs and 7 grams of sugar. But noone would know that because Mcdonalds puts that infor in places noone looks unless you go online

  • First of its 1150 mg's not grams. Second, every McDonalds has nutrition information upon request. If you are too lazy or too stupid to request the info or if you are too ignorant to understand basic nutrition, then you deserve to be a fat bloated mass with diabetes and heat disease. Look in the mirror and blame the person who is really responsible for your health.

  • It's annoying how certain parts of the interview keep repeating!

  • @at90percent They obviously want the sleezy guys view on how mcdonald has supposedly improved and they do not want to listen to critics from Eric Schlosser even though he is closer to the truth.

  • @at90percent: The executive is just trying to refuse to understand Schlosser. That's why. If McD markets to children at very early ages when they have no enough wits to think through what's good or bad for them, then McD has won the market since the kids will absolutely come back. No doubt McD will lose the debate.

  • The issue is if something is unhealthy, stay away from it. If pornography can be sold in a free society and parents entrusted to keep their children away and teach them moderation, then so can fast food. Its a free country. Dont let the gov't mandate anything. Adults should take the helm as intended.

  • "Dont let the gov't mandate anything."

Really? Should there be restrictions on alcohol and guns? What about drugs? Do you consider speed limits totalitarian? Should we force our kids to go schools? There are quite a few things called "laws" that our government mandates that we follow, are these acceptable in your opinion?

  • Allowing the Gov't to mandate what a private industry sells is wrong (as long as it doesnt endanger others unbeknownst to them.)I should be able to purchase fries or not for my children. All these problems began when we turned over the responsibility to the State to educate our children. Wake up. Speed limits totalitarian? try getting pulled over without a license and registration (i.e. your papers)

  • Yes restrictions on alcohol and guns and porn because parents drop the ball! Yes schools because parents drop the ball! we have laws because kids became parents without growing up 1st. Then thay have crooked views........like you!

  • I have not been dissuaded from going to McDonalds anymore. I'm not a shill for the franchise, but some things people object to, I won't share compunction with.

  • your soooo right. have u read kevin trudeaus "natural cures they dont want u to know about"?

  • sounds interesting... where can i find it?

  • theres a bunch of infomercials on t.v. about it but u can find it at superstore and i think chapters sells it too.

  • cool, thanks

  • McDonalds is bollox, even their salads are full of salf and chemicals. And they keep their frise in storage for upto 5 years. The guy who done 30 Days but some mcdonalds fries and regular fries in jars and the regular had mold after one week and the mcdonalds still looked fresh after 10 weeks. God knows what crap they pump the fries with. I woulden't eat mcdonalds reformed slop even if it was free. They are laughing at the fat bastards killing themself's spending all their money at mcdonalds.

  • Even their salads are unhealthy. Mcdonalds is full of shit

  • ok.. my PISS is organic... but i don't drink it.. moron... and I am eating mcdonalds while watching this right now... FAGGETS.. EAT UP!!!!

  • yeah, why is the McDonald's "argument" looped over and over at the end of the clip, and Schlosser's response cut out?

  • Problem with the video looping and relooping the weak McDonald's position info. Eric Schlosser, keep at them!

  • Dude, I'm not poor, but I also don't have a lot of money, and yet I eat healty. I'd rather run out of money for my health than to eat some nasty, murdered, deadly food to save money.

  • why the fuck is information repeated in the end? I hate it..

  • Thats why I ask, I did neuro in undergrad. Thats why your use of the addiction is laughable. If you can cite a single case, it should not be difficult to find, just post the link here and I'll read it.

  • When you try to argue someone it is up to you to support your statements.

  • Do you really believe that? Please cite any sort of scientific research that supports that.

  • Let's put aside the word addiction for now. Caffeine causes your adrenal glands to strain to produce chemicals. They get worn out. You can't produce your own adrenaline after awhile. You need more coffee to get the same level of energy you once had. Avoid frequent use of caffeine.

  • a "modern" hamburger restaurant???? What the heck is that supposed to mean?? To me, modern at this point of civilization is Jetsonisque which is about how I see McDonalds.

  • Don't try to justify this big business, its a money making machine, and the only reason they don't disregard all morality people have is becausing they are avoiding Lawsuits.

  • Wow, I'm gonna spill a secret to you all... Pancakes are NOT bad for you, Hamburgers are NOT bad for you, Chocolate is NOT bad for you. SURPRISED? Well, good news is if its ALL ORGANIC AND COOKED WITH ORGANIC HEALTHY OILS, you can eat anything you want, GUILT FREE! Don't believe me? Investigate for yourself and ask some Natural doctors about that. Great news ain't it? YOUR WELCOME!! :D~

  • i agree, no doubt, all that shit ass food in america is bad for you if it aint organic, and if it says shit like " all natural ", thats fake, thats actually chemicals that taste like the real thing, and ur right, if mcdonalds was made with organic things, it would be healthy no doubt bout that

  • I agree!

Even a 1/4 cup of expelled oil a day with wholesome meals and about 20 mins of moderate exercise will keep you trim, healthy and feeling GREAT!!

  • people make themselves fat! parents make their children fat! society wants to blame the media because it cannot fathom the fact it is not an epidemic but more of a choice of actions.

  • this argument is pointless, redundant, biased and pathetic. people seriously get over it.

  • whats with the repititions???

  • First, get facts before citing figures. Second, your McDonalds experience isn't representative of the world. Schlosser focuses more on McDonalds because it's the biggest and most harmful of the fast food conglomerates. It's nice that you've never known anyone to suffer from circulatory or weight problems, but those of us that have know that there are harmful health factors that need to be addressed.

  • nice discussion but what was that boring repetition of phrases in the end of the video...to emphasize that shit that Mcdonald´s say ? They´re ridiculous

  • That's incredibly naive. It may be the parent's responsibility to shape their children's eating habits, but unless you keep your child in a box, heavy marketing from companies like McDonalds greatly influence their habits, even overriding parental influence. I'm not saying parent's have no responsibility in the matter. But if McDonald's markets directly to little children, then they are also responsible.

  • What a bad film transfer. Repeating in the end suck.

  • in the middle, it repeats itself

  • "we've made changes to our menu"

    translation:

I can change baby, please take me back.

  • wtf?? they made changes because people wont SHUT UP about it. learn that its a corporation not there to make kids fat they are there for BUSINESS. thats ALL!

  • McDonalds "healthy choices" many times have more saturated fat than their double cheeseburgers. Its a friggin joke. Do yourself a favor and not eat that crap for a few weeks and watch your stools firm up.

  • What a perfect discussion to show you all an episode of "My Drunken Dad" specifically on the IMPORTANCE of McDonalds. if you read these you will find it is funny:::::::::http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgNxlJtG_k4

  • PS, anyone who is addicted to food because an ad told them to eat it should be stabbed in the face. I suppose it's budweiser's fault that teenagers get drunk. People these days have no accountability for their own actions and are using "the man" and "big corporations" as a scapegoats for their failures as human beings. Grilled chicken costs more? Well tough shit. Fork up the extra 20 cents.

  • I eat at mcdonalds once in a while because NO SHIT it's not healthy to eat it every day. It's not healthy to eat out ANYWHERE everyday. I wouldn't even eat at subways more than once a week. Schlosser needs to stfu, nobody is forcing nuggets down the throats of anyone. Any parent who brings their child to mcdonalds everyday should be shot

  • wow. notice how some people who post here as "pro Mc'd's" have no profiles whatsoever. hum...Mc'd people...?

  • Absolutelyand very astute. Munkyv22 is an idiot.

  • to Micky D's or not to Micky D's. They still spend millions a year on marketing to children. childhood is when you learn eating habits. and yes poorer people have a tendency to become food addicts in america thanks to the billions spent on advertising geared towards them.

  • Schlosser is such an idiot socialist. They want McDonalds to tell people EXACTLY how often they should eat there. McDonalds is a FAST FOOD joint. What happened to personal responsibility.

  • It's great that McD's offers "healthy choices" however, they are few & far between. Plus, these "healthy choices" are more expensive than the hamburgers. For example: grilled chicken is always more expensive than the deep fried counterpart. Plus the oil used to fry their fried food in, has been a controversy in several TV news stories for many years. I've learned that it usually best to make your own meals as much as possible, and read lables, if you want to take control of your health.

  • Mcdonalds, Mcdonalds, Kentucy Fried Chicken and a Pizza Hut!

  • Elian says: "I love McDonalds Freedom Fries"

  • what does the Elian boy think?

  • i read Scholsser's book, but never seen him on a full on debate. the poor uk rep in this debate is unconvincingly on the defense and not tackling the main issue in the US (in particular)- i'd vote for scholsser any day....and yes, food addiction is psychological!

  • The video was nice but it kept repeating some of the statements that were made...:( Oh well, I think Schlosser is winning this debate, although it seems fairly tight and even.

  • McDonalds should be free to do what they want. I'm all for free enterprize. The buyer/consumer needs to be aware of what they buy and what they put in thier body..or what they feed thier kids. It is not McDonnalds fault or anyone elses fault if you are a fat pig. Marketing is not the problem, ignorant people and parents that don't want to give thier kids healthy food are poor parents. I eat healthy all the time, but in protest, I think I'm gonna have to eat at McDonnalds today.

  • But what about the tremendous irresponsibility of the beef industry? I encourage everyone to look at facts about how much water is used and how much CO2 converting rainforest is destroyed for beef production.

  • If you go to McDonalds 5 times a week....you deserve what you get. Hell, in my opinion, you go there more then once a month you deserve a heart attack. Me- 10 years not going to McDonalds and feeling healthy :)

  • Actually no, addictions are physical as well. The brain reacts to responses in the body. Sugar rushes are real and the massive upturn in childhood diabetes proves that.

  • The head of McDonalds is a liar. McDonalds was kicked out of schools here in the US. There were outlets in schools. Schools that removed McDonalds and fast food from the menu saw a huge rise in grades .

  • The salads come with high calorie dressings. Look, I worked for an advertising agency, Mc Donalds , General Mills and al the other foods aimed at children are only beginning to change food formulas because they are being sued. They know they make children fat.

  • Most food addictions are psychological. Coffee addiction isn't coffee addiction, but caffeine addiction. Caffeine is an addictive drug, like nicotine.

  • I can only suggest you take an economics class. South America already did what they are doing now back in the 60s. It didn't work then, it won't work now. The only countries in South America that offer their citizens a reasonable standard of living are surprise surprise the capitalist nations of Chile and Costa Rica.

  • What is your background? My grandfather was a farmer and my dad was the first literate guy in our family. I am trying to build a stable society here in Paksitan? What have you ever done?

  • Sweety, go out and live what you preach and maybe if it works in thirty years we'll copy you. But the twentieth century already saw too many well meaning economic experiments that have left the third world poorer and poorer. But good luck with PROUT.

  • Yes, caffeine is addictive. That is why one can be addicted to coffee.

  • Well here is the problem, its not actually an addiction, it is a craving. People toss the word addiction around because we like to validate oneanother's weaknesses. If there are no withdrawal symptoms that manifest themselves, how is it an addiction?

  • Please compare the history of socialisst regimes in Africa and Pakistan, and compare them to Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia etc...

What are you achieving by mindlessy wearing anarchist symbols and chanting anti-capitalist slogans? Are you actually offering an ideology that can help the people of the third world.

  • I am not saying one shouldn't be politicaly active for socially just causes, but attacking McDonalds, or attacking "capitalism" is just intellectually lazy, when capitalism and international invesment have been the only means to better the standard of living in the developing world.

  • No yellrise I am a 23 year old law student in Pakistan. I have seen what protectionism and socialism have done to countires like Pakistan, India, and the greater part of sub-saharan Africa, namely impoverish it.

  • I despise McDonald's as much as the next guy but I think there is this stigma with any large successful enterprise, (Walmart, Microsoft, and even Disney for example). As soon as they reach their apex, people start assuming they are an evil corporation. I've read Scholsser's book (and found it very enlightening) however McD may be responsible for a lot of humanity's problems (especially in North America where food plays a Supersize part, in our lifestyle) it at least is trying...

  • They were the first to cut the Supersize option, on the heels of “Supersize Me”’s release, Wendy’s and other’s followed. They changed their oils (at least here in Canada), cut salts and offered, reformatted healthier choices. So I guess what I am saying is maybe the pressure and discussion (like this one) were necessary for theses small changes to occur and result in monumental effects for the greater of mankind. MyRant, thats all.

  • sheldon, some people can't afford to buy or grow cucumber salads, especially in poor urban districts. people see cheap tasty food, and they get addicted to it, they want more of it, despite all the risks. See that movie where the guy eats mcD's for 30 days, he says he becomes addicted to it. certainly easier for others who have less knowledge and money but more hunger eh?

  • Look at it this way, when you go to subway, do you order a quarter punder sub with lots of fat and salt? Then think about someone going into Mcdonalds to buy a salad and an apple. I think this Healthy Choices campaign is just some bs up so they can wash their hands with that argument "no one buys them". The thing here is that they are making choices after looking at hours of television advertisements , etc...

  • The type of addiction that one can have to a narcotic is nothing like "feeling sad" when you can't eat a burger.

  • Serioulsy if a guy can't control what he eats its his own fault that he is fat.

Being hooked to heroin or cocaine is a chemical addiction.

But a responsible adult should be able to resist eating at McDonalds five times a week. Attacking McDonalds is so absurdly ridiculous, its anti-capitalist nonsense.

  • I think that "supersize me" proved the fact that fast food is chemically adictive food. Didnt he feel all sad when didnt eat? he felt all happy when he was eating that big mac. I think that the problem relies in culture. I think that mcdonalds food can be a part of a healthy diet IF you consume it every once in a while. It is a harm if you only eat that, the same way that it is dangerous if you only eat lettuce or if you only drink coke.

  • These sales depend on the consumer not knowing that they are unhealthy. It is important to know that you can become addicted to high sugar. To the rush of insulin. Being a capitalist is fine , being a deceptive capitalist will get you a class action lawsuit.

  • why does this video keep repeating its self

  • there are repeat glitches in this video

  • i know him

  • I know hymns
