Man what are yall talking about you miss this Mariah? THIS Mariah is still here, except she's grown, she's free, she's not held back and she's doing what makes her happy. Yeah her voice and songs were amazing in the 90s but sheesh, the girl is still here making hits and singing. She still is the best. Except the difference is she's gotten older and people change with the times you know. Yall can't expect yourselves to change in 10-20yrs & expect MIMI to keep rocking the 90s look now did u? Pfft
This song has and does mean a lot to me...even now it is a song of inspiration and faith and persistence...a message that encouraged me so greatly about 15 years ago; when I really needed it badly. Now, it is a reminder of my continuing faith and how far I've come through difficulties to where I am now with my faith in God intact and stronger than it's ever been. The message of this song is so important to me and the talent of the songwriter's and with Mariah as the performer is talent from God.
@dhiadupon Oh sure, this is the "real" Mariah. The one who was told how to dress, what to do, what songs to sing, ect. I dont think so this is the real Mariah, it might be a better Mariah (in ur opinion) but not the "real" Mariah.
Wow, her voice sounded so fresh and at its prime here. I especially love 3:25-3:45. That part when she says "soul" at 3:36 gives me straight chills!! I really, really miss this Mariah.
I remember when I was a kid & my mom would be getting ready to go out with my dad in her bedroom, she would be listening to this on tape & singing along. I'd walk in & out whenever there was a commercial during Loony Toons.

You can tell that she always had nodules in her vocal chords... Listen 2.44, her voice sounds husky. Actually, I think nodules gave her that unique texture in her voice.
