VH1 Classic to air Classic MTV over 3 days !!! Starts July 30th ! Happy Big 3-0 MTV !!!

I thought I'd missed something when I missed this show - looks like, luckily, I did not. Remember the Mellencamp "Paint Your House Pink" contest?  Madonna's "Make My Video"? And the videos that just flat-out ROCKED. In my town, MTV was not available until June 1984. Had to go out to an under-21 club (I was under 21 at the time) to see MTV. No DVD recorders or Tivo back then, kiddies!!! You saw a video; you had to *wait* to see it again. Ye olden days . ..

You all are right, that marathon is terrible!!!!!!!!!!!! There's not one single video hardly! just a bunch of footage from everything you all mentioned, it is boring and awful!

For some reason, it appears to be too much focus on bands/performances from the 1990's and the past decade. Kid Rock, Britney Spears? Seriously? Where's the highlights from the 1984 Van Halen contest or other memorable VMA performances that weren't shown?

@SuperTooga I AGREE! I wish they would show things with Rod & Bon Jovi too!! they only showed one thing of Bon Jovi. It was a commercial for a Jamaica contest. Hope they show other stuff besides the things they're showing lately.

Vh1 Classic has to celebrate the Anniversery because MTV dosnt care about how old it is and, wants to forget about what it used to be. The last time MTV celebrated their Birthday was 10 years ago when their 20th.

From the press release, it states that the MTV 30th marathon will feature clips & performances from various MTV programs/specials from "Headbangers Ball", "Yo! MTV Raps", "Video Music Awards", "Club MTV", MTV's Spring Break to non music realted shows from "Beavis & Butt-Head", "Remote Control", and even the infamous "Real World".

@talladegajunkie1439 Man, I couldn't have said it better. in 2000, MTV/2 did play their whole video inventory, but since then the most they have done is play the first 24 hours of MTV 5 years ago. WE NEED A 24/7 CLASSIC MTV CHANNEL!

@hermitnerd i have on vhs tape 2 different 80's documentrys and 2 different mtv 500 vids of all time from back in the late 90's . i also hear that mike judge is makeing new episodes of beavis & butthead and they are suposed to start showing the new shows here this fall

TV Guide lists that the "original first hour" will air on August 1st at midnight. While it's not reliable, there's room to air the first 8 hours.

The listings only states "MTV30". Would be great if they air the original "Headbangers Ball", "Club MTV", and various vintage performances from Spring Break, New Years, VMAs, Unplugged, etc. that haven't been shown in years and/or not on DVD/YouTube.
