Before contacting Williams, George Lucas actually had this scene set to The Rite of Spring, so the resemblance is completely intentional. I agree with you that this isn't much more than a rearrangement, but you can hardly blame Williams for that when he was told specifically to do it this way. He's done tons of other brilliant scores that are far more original.
C-3PO: And if you'll look to the left of me, you'll see the remains of a Greater Krayt Dragon. And if you'll look in front of me, you'll se a Jawa Sandcrawler.
@kardas4210 but since you are misinformed I will rephrase my sentence. "Is anyone reminded of Home Alone at 3:15? Sounds like John Williams grabbed that part from this song, and later used it for the movie Home alone."
The beginning is a complete from Igor Stravinsky's Rite of Spring (Introduction of part II, The Sacrifice), a piece which is much better than anything Williams ever did.
@Nuker1337 you're wrong. "the track "Dune Sea of Tatooine" drew from the soundtrack from Bicycle Thieves, scored by Alessandro Cicognini.[46]" from wikipedia. and i'm sorry to say, the majority of the world disagrees with your opinion of williams because he's already been established (and noted) as one of the greatest film composers of all time. either that, or you're just trolling.
@jediyamato1 I'm not wrong. Listen to the beginning of part II, "The Sacrifice", and then tell me this doesn't sound like this. I don't doubt that he's one of the greatest movie soundtrack composers (many say he't he best), but he's not on the level as the finest composers of the 20th century, let alone of all time.
after u have enough music history backround, u really begin to despise john williams. The more u listen to holst and mahler, and stravinsky, the more u hear the hard work of other composers that john williams stole
you know this for sure??? oh my god shit everyone, this guy answered one of the big important questions of hundreds of thousands of generations of life!!!!! dude go public with the evidence!!!!! but use the cash to buy bodyguards or some religious nut will murder you... or maybe even the pope, you know they do that to people like you right?? right in between them putting mind control drugs into the tapwater and talking to ET on that weird device he left behind
@buggs83uk Hmm, ok. Drop the sarcasm. Anyone slightly educated will realize that it was taken from Le Sacre, but people on the internet are far from being slightly educated these days.
I hate to ruin your opinions on this piece, as I am a huge John Williams fan myself, but this cue is IDENTICAL to Stravinsky's opening to the 2nd part of the Rite of Spring...I was gutted when I found out xD JW still writes great music, but this I'm afraid is too close to call his own...
@FirestormChameleon im not gonna deny that, but i wouldnt be surprised if he borrowed the beginning motif and other ideas from stravinsky's rite of spring.
