not trying to be an ass or anything man but we have those same weights the black weights are 45 pounds the red ones are 10 pounds and with my math thatis 155 plus the 5 pounds on both sides being 165 not 265 I apologize if i am wrong but we have those same weights
ok im just gonna say it, its lacking technique. Good technique and the hook grip would more than 100 ponds, seriously , more than a 100 at the same strength. hook grip is absolutely essential btw.
also you should get weightlifting shoes, since you do the oly lifts and alot of squats , it will help your lifting and is much safer, and it is not an "assistance tool"
im 45 and own zeaus gym.blood and sweat back;power cleans-5x1,clean and jerk-5x1 @85%,snatch-3x3.ive been doing this quiite a long time.i think you are doing quite well we all started out using pvc pipe for our lifts, not 100 or 200.time and patience sir.concentrate fully, amplify your nutrition,3x weekly on your training.if you wish you can also incorporate the olympic lifts into a bodybuilding routine for extra power, speed, explsiveness amd tremendous strength and density.good luck.
Not enough vertical pull from what I can see. You jumped back wards and still caught the bar perfectly. That would suggest you are pulling towards your chest too much rather than exploding with the traps and lower limb triple extension to get the bar up.
@wusta34 I took the liberty of going to DirectAthletics and looking up the top 100 marks for DI in Javelin last year...no one from UNCW was on the list, which means the kid can't throw 200. If he could hang clean over 265 and can't throw a Javelin over 200, he's garbage at javelin.
@roughneckasian Tough ajwazhere was obviously just a troll/douche, you should be able to clean more than presented here! Just work on the technique, you have the strength for >300# clean.
Nice job. That IS a lot of weight, no matter what these fags say. But, aren't your arms bending a little bit too early? I mean clearly what you do works for you, but you might be able to lift more by bending your arms a little later.
HAHA that ajwazhere guy is such a douche, i know many D1 athletes, and their all humble as hell so I'm not buying it. And come on Tuans a fucking beast, hes doing a full clean in flat soled wrestling shoes that takes alot of flexibility, and balance, not to mention brute strength
I'm pretty sure he does this somewhat recreationally, hes not dedicated to doing to O-lifts. Hes a body builder for the most part hence why his form isnt top notch. Its impressive enough that he does O-lifts, most body builders dont even attempt it.
pause it at exactly 45 seconds and you can tell why yo cant do more, thats a lot of weight to the average person but several people that weigh less than you can do more because of proper form
hey man great job, i think the only problem there was that you should add a little more shrug to it and punching those elbows in front a bit more, hope its improved over the year. cheers
@ajwazhere well, unless you post up a video showcasing your ability, then all you are doing is running your mouth like a douche bag. So either post a vid or stop letting with all the bs coming out of your mouth
@roughneckasian If that is the logic by which you need to rebuke my statement, then so be it. I'm a Scholarship D1 Javelin thrower for UNCW; I don't need to post any videos to prove that, just look me up kiddo.
@roughneckasian Gets called out for my lack of proof? I told you to look me up. My statistics are on the web. Nice degrees, do they help you floor clean more than 265? Sure, you're strong, I'll give you that; however, your form and power within this aspect of weightlifting lack.
@ajwazhere Kid, I can easily reference myself as a 7 foot tall basketball player: "Just look me up, heres a link" where as this "person" might just be an internet face for some fat-ass loser that can't do anything but hate on somebody that has put time and dedication into doing something.
@roughneckasian I'll stick to my original thought; if I'm only benching 225-230 and only squatting 390-400 (and I'm almost confident you life more with how big you are) there is no reason you should be going this light ESPECIALLY as a channel dedicated to weightlifting.
@ajwazhere blocked. your original comment, "You're way too big to be doing this little weight. I'm only 180 and I hang clean more than this."
Your 2nd comment, "If that is the logic by which you need to rebuke my statement, then so be it. I'm a Scholarship D1 Javelin thrower for UNCW; I don't need to post any videos to prove that, just look me up kiddo."
Now you want put of your BS reasoning for your for your douche bag logic. "Blocked!" Wasted enough of my life with you
@roughneckasian I am with you man. This guy is a faggot. I hated gyms and gym rats because they give you shit about not lifting "enough". Nice clean man, I aspire to be like you one day :P
@roughneckasian Though ajwazhere came off as a conceited ass, he is right. At your size, this weight is way too little. The form needs work. I have done more than this (there is a video in my channel of this much) at similar body weight, but with significantly lower lifting marks than you in the squat and DL.
@ajwazhere However well you do, you'll always get the Trolls bugging you. I bet they do f*** all but w*** in front of their computers :[] Roughneck Asian has done good.
@ajwazhere hey kiddo... like tuan said until u have proof there is no reason to believe you. stop running your mouth and give some evidence i will reiterate what tuan said.......you are a DOUCHEBAG
@roughneckasian I think what ajwazhere was trying to say is that once you get your form down. You're going to throw this weight around. Which you did. You literally muscled the thing up.
@ajwazhere Remember as a bodybuilder he will be focusing on hypertrophy that looks for more a hormonal response when lifting weights rather than a neuromuscular stimulus when performing these exercises.
another nice lift man, the full clean takes balance as well as lots of strength. 265 is more than most people can do ever(despite what they might comment on youtube lol!) keep it up, you will hit 300, clean AND JERK! peace
well dude way to go, one thing though, when you lift that much weight you should really use a lifting belt so you dont hurt your back, other than that your good
you clearly have the ability my friend. im not a youtube hater, fell in love with these lifts recently myself. one thing i would suggest is adjusting your starting position, get your arse lower down and your spinal alingment more neutral, your rounding a fair bit, if you get your arse down that will take care of a lot of that anyway. you need that starting 'bottom of a squat' position to get the full hip drive and power transfer, on this your starting on more of a RDL position. happy lifting :)
Nice work dude, but it looks as if the actual squatting portion of the lift was merely an after thought. This is likely because you are not really using hip flexion. Instead you did a power clean and just dropped down into a squat lol. Keep at it!
Hey man. Great to see another Asian-American lifter. (I'm Flip.) That was pretty impressive; not quite 'competition pretty', but very impressive nonetheless. Have you thought about training as a full-time Olympic lifter? Or is bodybuildng your main goal?
i see this video is from last august...have you gotten a pair of weightlifting shoes yet? if not, i would strongly encourage you to. makes your lifts a lot more solid. i got a pair a little while ago and they feel a lot better for these lifts.
my year end goal is to snatch bodyweight (185) and clean and jerk 1 1/2 times bodyweight (275). im at 160 for snatch and 225 for clean.
On the way up from the squat, keep an eye out for your elbows (almost touching knees, which is bad form and can cause injury such as shattering the forearm). Also, you seem to jump back a bit during the clean (I do it too), which might be trouble later on with heavier weights because essentially, there is more distance between your body and the bar.
Good job man! You're pretty fucking huge though. My goal is also to reach 300lb but without packing too much weight or muscle (I'm in mma, wouldn't wanna fight in a class that I don't belong in). How are your deadlifts coming along? I'm finding that focusing on my deadlifts has really been making cleaning easier for me.
nice shit mannn!! i wish i could front squat like that on my clean, i am in 169 weight class for high school weightlifting and i put up 260 clean and jerk, i just power clean it normally
I think you could do a lot more weight if you mastered the technique and got your hips more involved. I used to do cleans just like you without pushing the bar against my hips, once i got a better technique going it was much easier. You will feel the difference once your thighs are hitting the bar and pushing it upwards in a rapid momentum. Great videoes btw keep going at it, peace !!
Not a power clean. Caught the bar way too low. Impressive raw strength though. I bet you do 315 easy if you work on technique. BTW, my form is terrible too. Takes a lot of practice.
where do you incorporate your power cleans in your workout routine ... i dont know how yours is set up but for me for example i do one body part a day usually ... so would doing them on a day where im training shoulders be best or on a day when im training back or neither ? .. Also where do you incorporate the snatch into your routine? im asking because im starting to use the incorporate these movements into my strength routine and dont want them to conflict with my deadlifts, squats, and bench
@roughneckasian alright so I would just buy the month membership for the nutrition plan on your site listed below your username and then it goes to my email? Im planin on gettin it for sure just gotta wait til the next paycheck haha Iv had a lot of expenses the past few months.
@roughneckasian i went on your online training website and I was curious if your nutrition plan was done specifically for the individual by you personally, or through a computer program of some sort. I have worked really hard to put on the muscle I have im only 19 years old been lifting all natural, no other way to go in my eyes, sinse i was 13. I just want to be sure that the diet I would be on through your program would be adequate for my age, bodytype, metabolism, etc.
@aaron07311 the web site is down so i am creating all the programs by hand. I was using the site for it had all the formulas I needed but for some reason, it is having some tech issues. either way, you will get a full online of what you do when it comes to nutrition and it will be emailed to you.
I know you have all the tools to help me out as a natural bodybuilder who is very accomplished. What bodyweight am i looking at to get down from 12 to 6-7% starting at 180? Also how many weeks should I expect to spend dieting? Your help would be greatly appreciated
@aaron07311 with just the basic math, if you are 180 at 12% body fat, you have 21.6 lbs of body fat and 158.4 lbs of lean body mass. To get to 6% body fat, you need to drop your bodyfat lbs to 9.5 lbs. so you need to lose about 12 lbs of fat. You can lose 1 to 2 lbs of fat a week. but if you do not want to lose muscle, then i suggest only 1 lbs of fat a week. If you need more help, you can always sign up from my online training. either way, hopes this helps and good luck
It would be awsome if you could help me out on this question. Im currently 180lbs between 179.5 and 180 at 5ft 10. I would guess my bf % is around 12%. Iv been following Natural Pro Layne Norton`s diet plan for the last few weeks. My goal is to get down around 6-7% so not competition lean but conisderably leaner then I am. So far iv lost about 3lbs and kept my strength so far. Would you agree with this diet ratio 2400 cals per day 225-250carbs 45-55g fat 240-250g protein?
Hey bro, I suggest strengthening your adductors so that your knees don't roll in on you during heavy lifts....it'll make you stronger and keep you lifting safely. At your current strength, you'll run this risk of hurting yourself if you don't, but working on them will help you throw around more weight even sooner.
@goizzygo strengthen the ABductors to prevent the knees from rolling in. If anything his adductors are tonic (overactive) causing a valgus stress on the knees which could cause injury. I would SMR (self myofascial release) the adductors, work on some lengthening techniques to stretch the adductors, then iso the Abductors (TFL, Glute medius). It doesn't look too bad though
heyi tuan iv been watching ur videos alot and i like em alot. i think u should do a full workout routine videos...like for example ur full chest workout routine, full bicep tricep workout and so on..and also somebody recomemded me that drop sets are good..what you think abt drop sets? is it beta to do drop sets or jus normal sets.. thx
@Broccoli3411 a non cooperate gym...lol. But for the most part, I only do this if I am shooting a video for you tube. All in all, I wear a shirt when I train
@roughneckasian Quick question (novice), but is the weight including your body weight or not? I just want a basis of understanding so i can compare myself.
@roughneckasian a tran, quick? Im a muay thai competitor and im naturally built (good genes) i weigh somewhere at 170-175, im 5'8. My question is, is it possible for me to gain 5-10 pounds of muscle while doing my thai training, within the next 6-8 months? I really want to at least weigh around 180 to 185. I train for a hour mostly 3-4 days. I of course dont want huge arms like urs but maybe chest, abs, shoulders and legs? Bigger back too? reply back or mail me a message please thanks!!
Awesome, wish my gym had bumper plates =( its funny, because i just started incorporating Olympic lifting in my training, then i see your new vid. haha. Still trying to perfect my form. Form is the hardest to get.(in my opinion)
Hey Tuan you should thing about entering an olympic weightlifting competition. you would do awsome in that you got great power. If you worked on your technique you would easily get over 300-350 +
Very impressive, that will be awesome when you get to 300pds. I always struggle with my form on this lift when going real heavy, looks like your form was great keep doing your thing!
Like someone else mentioned, imagine your arms as ropes, or cables. keeping them as straight as possible. they are just a way for your body to connect to the bar.
@olylifter69kg meant to title "Power Clean While Catching in a Full Front Squat Position", but that would be too long. Figured people would understand seeing how I caught it in the low position
great strength and nice lift! but in my humble observations, make sure you don't bend your arms in the initial lift, it's dangerous as well as it subtracts power...it looked like you did there. once again, i'm no professional by any means, but just throwing that out there. best of luck hitting your PR by the end of the year
@kwikslvr440 Thanks for the insight. I too just saw that and will do more clean pulls to work that out. That is why video is so amazing, you can use it to catch mistakes and better yourself. Also with youtube, it is a great way of getting more insight from other perspectives that are not haters. I wish I can have more respectable comments like yours pointing out something I can improve on vs. the childish negative name calling comments from the haters

@ajwazhere normal pattern of a douche bag.
1. Makes fun of someone
2. Makes claim about their amazing skills
3. Gets called out for lack of proof of their so called skills
4. Defends themselves by saying they are beyond the status of mere mortals so they do not have to show any proof.
So there you have it. The prater of a YouTube douche bag hater in a nut shell. "Wow," amazing how you fit that description so well.

Alexsteen 10 months ago
thats awesome man are you training for a sport or are you just cleaning because its awsome?

nice shit mannn!! i wish i could front squat like that on my clean, i am in 169 weight class for high school weightlifting and i put up 260 clean and jerk, i just power clean it normally
ABIbx1 11 months ago
I think you could do a lot more weight if you mastered the technique and got your hips more involved. I used to do cleans just like you without pushing the bar against my hips, once i got a better technique going it was much easier. You will feel the difference once your thighs are hitting the bar and pushing it upwards in a rapid momentum. Great videoes btw keep going at it, peace !!

im 16 n clean 245, thats only 20 pounds under that and your WAY bigger than me
if you worked on your form you could probly gettin 300 easy cuz obviously your crazy strong
bigjohn0055 1 year ago
Yo Tuan, this is a clean. Not a power clean. A power clean is when you clean it and catch it parallel or higher than parallel.
captainjosue 1 year ago
go grab some oly lifting shoes... you need some lift in the heal and stability for catching that bar low, helps a lot :).
ahjpwn 1 year ago
@ahjpwn Yes very true. Get some O lifting shoes it really helps.
captainjosue 1 year ago
Not a power clean. Caught the bar way too low. Impressive raw strength though. I bet you do 315 easy if you work on technique. BTW, my form is terrible too. Takes a lot of practice.

iProVoK3D 1 year ago
where do you incorporate your power cleans in your workout routine ... i dont know how yours is set up but for me for example i do one body part a day usually ... so would doing them on a day where im training shoulders be best or on a day when im training back or neither ? .. Also where do you incorporate the snatch into your routine? im asking because im starting to use the incorporate these movements into my strength routine and dont want them to conflict with my deadlifts, squats, and bench

Dear roughneckasian: What is your body fat percentage in this video? and competition percentage, because that's my goal.
primevk 1 year ago 7
@roughneckasian alright so I would just buy the month membership for the nutrition plan on your site listed below your username and then it goes to my email? Im planin on gettin it for sure just gotta wait til the next paycheck haha Iv had a lot of expenses the past few months.
aaron07311 1 year ago
@roughneckasian i went on your online training website and I was curious if your nutrition plan was done specifically for the individual by you personally, or through a computer program of some sort. I have worked really hard to put on the muscle I have im only 19 years old been lifting all natural, no other way to go in my eyes, sinse i was 13. I just want to be sure that the diet I would be on through your program would be adequate for my age, bodytype, metabolism, etc.
aaron07311 1 year ago
@aaron07311 the web site is down so i am creating all the programs by hand. I was using the site for it had all the formulas I needed but for some reason, it is having some tech issues. either way, you will get a full online of what you do when it comes to nutrition and it will be emailed to you.

I know you have all the tools to help me out as a natural bodybuilder who is very accomplished. What bodyweight am i looking at to get down from 12 to 6-7% starting at 180? Also how many weeks should I expect to spend dieting? Your help would be greatly appreciated
aaron07311 1 year ago
@aaron07311 with just the basic math, if you are 180 at 12% body fat, you have 21.6 lbs of body fat and 158.4 lbs of lean body mass. To get to 6% body fat, you need to drop your bodyfat lbs to 9.5 lbs. so you need to lose about 12 lbs of fat. You can lose 1 to 2 lbs of fat a week. but if you do not want to lose muscle, then i suggest only 1 lbs of fat a week. If you need more help, you can always sign up from my online training. either way, hopes this helps and good luck
roughneckasian 1 year ago
It would be awsome if you could help me out on this question. Im currently 180lbs between 179.5 and 180 at 5ft 10. I would guess my bf % is around 12%. Iv been following Natural Pro Layne Norton`s diet plan for the last few weeks. My goal is to get down around 6-7% so not competition lean but conisderably leaner then I am. So far iv lost about 3lbs and kept my strength so far. Would you agree with this diet ratio 2400 cals per day 225-250carbs 45-55g fat 240-250g protein?
aaron07311 1 year ago
Hey bro, I suggest strengthening your adductors so that your knees don't roll in on you during heavy lifts....it'll make you stronger and keep you lifting safely. At your current strength, you'll run this risk of hurting yourself if you don't, but working on them will help you throw around more weight even sooner.
goizzygo 1 year ago
@goizzygo nice tip. already doing so for my squats in powerlifting so it sure flow over very nicely when I get back to the cleans
roughneckasian 1 year ago
@roughneckasian its actually abductors, not adductors. squats won't hit them at well as doing band abductor exercises.they work really well
hytinendc18 4 months ago
@goizzygo His knees were'n't rolling in because a lack of strength. Because Tuan isn't using O lifting shoes he's lacking stability.
captainjosue 1 year ago
@goizzygo strengthen the ABductors to prevent the knees from rolling in. If anything his adductors are tonic (overactive) causing a valgus stress on the knees which could cause injury. I would SMR (self myofascial release) the adductors, work on some lengthening techniques to stretch the adductors, then iso the Abductors (TFL, Glute medius). It doesn't look too bad though

You'll hit 300lbs in less then 3 months and weird question but what gym allows people to not wear shirts?
Broccoli3411 1 year ago
@Broccoli3411 a non cooperate gym...lol. But for the most part, I only do this if I am shooting a video for you tube. All in all, I wear a shirt when I train
roughneckasian 1 year ago
@roughneckasian Quick question (novice), but is the weight including your body weight or not? I just want a basis of understanding so i can compare myself.
Anima87 1 year ago
@Anima87 any time of resistance against the muscle is weight training. So even yoga and palities are forms of weight training as well

Like someone else mentioned, imagine your arms as ropes, or cables. keeping them as straight as possible. they are just a way for your body to connect to the bar.

isnt that 245lbs
Rodgir92 1 year ago
@Rodgir92 1 kg is 2.2 lbs, 25 kg is 55 lbs. 50 kg is 110 lbs. add that in with 155 lbs for the 45s and 10s on the 45 lbs bar and you have 265 lbs.
roughneckasian 1 year ago
@Rodgir92 ohh ok my bad lol the red plate looked like a 45 nice lift

@Rodgir92 no worries. most gyms do not have bumper plates or kg weights so many would make the same mistake

LastDimensionAMV 1 year ago
great strength and nice lift! but in my humble observations, make sure you don't bend your arms in the initial lift, it's dangerous as well as it subtracts power...it looked like you did there. once again, i'm no professional by any means, but just throwing that out there. best of luck hitting your PR by the end of the year
kwikslvr440 1 year ago
@kwikslvr440 Thanks for the insight. I too just saw that and will do more clean pulls to work that out. That is why video is so amazing, you can use it to catch mistakes and better yourself. Also with youtube, it is a great way of getting more insight from other perspectives that are not haters. I wish I can have more respectable comments like yours pointing out something I can improve on vs. the childish negative name calling comments from the haters
