i'm confused with terminology... "layup", need a large, strong, and lightweight *"tool"*

"Layup" here refers to laying multiple layers of a material, such as fiberglass, over a shape

"Tool" here refers to a mold, but the word tool is more general. All molds are tools, but not all tools are molds.
