My main question is, where are we going to build this thing? I get a really bad feeling, its going to be literally in my backyard out here in East Massena. Won't be the GM site, god the natives will go insane unless we cut them in with a big deal. This, will be an interesting chapter in Massena History. Side question, what in gods name is being planned at the Baptist Church site, I can't believe this town would allow that to be destroyed, they've crossed the line.
@MassenaCenter315 i tried to tell officals 3 years ago to save the chruch and make it a museum or an office compex but they wouldnt listen. the church will be gone because maginn always gets his way. 150 years of our community history gone. he would buy sacret heart church if he could and level it for more money he doenst need. sorry to rant. but send letter to newspaper on opposition and feelings about the nuclear plant idea and feelings about the church. i dont know how long i can take this..
@johnswackyworld Sad but he owns the property now, so there's very little we can do unless every citizen stands up against him. The Good Old Boys best wake up and realize their time grows short here in Massena, the grim hand of Death reaches closer with each day for them. Then its my generations turn. Lets just make sure what history is preserved is. As for now, I'll concentrate my efforts on this Nuclear plant joke.
@MassenaCenter315 might be a little harsh to say here. but he could never pay me off. i try to bring a smile to the people of this community like an oldtime masonic or knights of columbus show and state the truth that oldtimers would most likely say now gone the people of the baptist church could have sold that property when the st. lawrence seaway came here. if you notice all 3 corners of downtown changed in the late 1950'sall the building of the pioneeers were leveled they refused to sell out
One must ALWAYS look at the worst-case scenario - regardless of how un-probable it is. A catastrophic event would remove both the nuclear plant, the dam and all the other distributed power generation in the region (wind, water). The Seaway all of a sudden becomes an irrevocably irradiated body that will end up in the great lakes. What does Canada think about this?
So what little picturesque NY state town have they earmarked to turn into a Nuclear Power Plant waste disposal dumping ground.. because they will need one of those.Someplace to store all that Nuclear waste for everyone's known life time and beyond..I don't know if the scientific stats have changed but any land contaminated by spills or leaks can remains hot for as long as 260,000 YEARS.. but they just usually pave over it hope people forget
@TheDuckQuacksBack i wont be here if it gets built. were on an earthquake fault. one mistake. were all dead. its allabout money. making more money for those who have money, 150 year old baptist church to be demolished by millonaire developer today announced and now a possible nuclear power plant. bye bye massena.
@bundangbear i'm opposed to idea bear. i wouldnt want to live within 2 miles of a nuclear power plant. one major earhtquake.boom. were all gone!! this was like announcing today that massen will be getting a star bucks coffee house!!

@MassenaCenter315 Oh, and I take solace in the fact that I'll be able to dance on Maginn's grave when that time comes. You can record it.
