They already ruined the charger name several times, now they gotta ruin the Demon too?I own a real 72 Demon but this concept car looks like a crappy Mazda Miata or some shit like that.Dodge did good with the new Challenger but this "concept" Demon must die now!Or change the name to K car.
Since it's first appearance on Dodge trucks in the mid 90's, Dodge has been a slave to the "window pane" look grille. I can understand a car maker wanting their cars to be recognizeable at a glance, but Dodge needs to get over this tired, thirteen year old look, and come up with something new-
Man this thing is ugly...so why bother? Its not going to get these guys out of trouble bringing ugly cars to the Market place....I think if they donnt learn soon it sgoing to be bye bye for this group.
On second thought, it's not bad. I say this, because Dodge has a good market in hand with this car, people want a sporty car that's easy on gas. If albeit this car is a bit chick-ish compaired to the old one so be it, let every highschool girl get one as their graduation present. Good job Dodge, it's not great but it's a good step........oh wait.....you'll never make this car because why? That be the smart thing to do...
SauceCaptain that would be awesome. If this thing has turning radius and comes in a turbocharged SRT version, and offers a hardtop model, no doubt I would buy it.
I wish this car went into production at a reasonable price. I do like the old Demon but it's like comparing celery with bananas. Two different categories.
If the car was produced there is plenty of talk of making a SRT 4 variant. Imagine that turbo pushing only 2500 lbs! 0-60 times would be amazing for a 4 cylinder. Add a hard top kit and I'm sold, all for under $20,000. Mini Viper anybody? Hope and pray dodge makes this car.
It'll better have a trunk. I know two people who ditched their Solstices and got an MX-5 because they just couldn't function without a trunk (and they just have had to have a roadster). OK, in both cases it was their only car.
Other: The dash just sucks. It could nix my interest, that's what killed the S2000 for me, if I have to look the darn thing all the time while I'm inside the car, it better look good.
I agree with the whole trunk bit. Sure a roadster's primary objective isn't to haul cargo, however asking for a small boot isn't a lot to ask for. As for your S2k comment, I normally am a proponent to visually appealing interiors, more than most, but I have to say that the S2000's functional layout and harking to the classic, no-nonsense, spartan interior makes more sense in that car than a luxurious one. Also, the S2k's driving dynamics overshadow any visual shortcomings in my opionion.
I actually HAVE a Miata, and was looking at the 350Z coupe to buy. (Likely will go with the Infiniti g35 though). Sorry, but I don't see your claim for either car. Actually, if you'd know your cars a little better, you'd make the claim that it has the tail/back of an Audi TT, that's about the closest. If they make this car indeed for $3to 4K less than the MX-5/Miata they're likely to sell plenty of them, a small urban use fuel efficient (and fun) car is likely to do well with $4/gal gas.
does anybosy remembers Gran Turismo, back on PS1? they had under the dodge brand a Concept Car, not convertible, but i looks very similar to the Demon!
thts gay as hell they did good with the challenger binging back the old look why dont they do it with the demon too ya know the mutt between dart duster and charger
I think this car looks pretty sweet. I am not so sure about using the old muscle car name demon though. I know that it is supposed to be a RWD 6-Speed. I have also read that there might be two motor options. One is like the SRT-4 motor at 172hp, and another possibility is a 300hp. I am not positive if they are turbocharged or not, but I think it will be likely. This is still a concept, but I think it would be cool if they actually release it.
Look. If any of u people knew anything about Dodge.... The Demon was created in the early 70's. But everything today is part everything else anyway. 50% muscle 50% japanese. It's a nice car.
look its not a rip off of anything , my best guess is that this car is another collaboration between Chrysler/Dodge and Mitsubishi ,i am pretty much assuming that the car you are looking at is a mitsubishi eclipse rebadged , not a rip off ,i would believe this because mitsubishi is borrowing the dodge dakota as the mitsubishi raider so im assuming it was a trade.
I have owned many 70's Muscle cars. I now own a Mazdaspeed MX5 (Miata) And boy does it make those old muscle cars seem to handle like Cadillacs. Not to say that the old cars did not have thier place....
let me tell you something, My Big Brother got a 72' demon 340 with two 4's and this new "concept" i hope they dont actually sell any because it looks like a mazda miata or something. im a vw and chevy fan but mopar is definately second on the food chain next to Chevy but i will say that vw is 3rd. but i like em anyway.
i like it. You have to remember that in todays market not everyone wants a gas gugler and with what every other competitor is coming out with dodge has to compete with. Pontiac/saturn/mazda etc all have their roadsters.
besides we still got the new challenger coming out, looks kick ass.
Honestly unless this goes VERY VERY FAST it's a DOGde not worthy of being a DODge - but ugly can occasionally be forgiven for speed and handling - OCCASIONALLY
In normally aspirated form, this car should be reasonably quick, handle like a dream, and get 30+ mpg. If they do decide to build this, and they decide to put the 300 hp 2.4L turbo that the Caliber SRT4 is getting, then this car could easily run low 13's in the 1/4 mile, 0-60 in under 5 seconds, and still get 30 mpg. How many cars can do that?
It's called we Americans like Big things! I own a 71 Dodge Demon and it never came with a lame 4 banger sure it had a /6 but most of the Demon's were produced with a 318 or 340. Some of these little workhorses were souped up from Mr. Norm! known as the GSS Demon's now that's a car worth the name of "Demon" not this car.
I bet youre big and fat too. Just like the American obesity epidemic that is. It's too bad 'lame' is the best you can describe a powerful lightweight 4 banger. Big syndrome ftl!
Suck? The interior is the best part of the car. Classic roadster look. If the price that we're hearing is true, and if there's an emphasis on handling over horsepower, this car will be a winner. I'm in no hurry to trade in my Miata, but I'm test driving this the second it hits the showroom floor.
I read earlier in autoweek that the base model will be offered with the 155hp 4 cyl. with the top-of-the-line model getting the 300hp turbo 4. More then enough competition for the current miata and solstice/sky. Although like Justinn600 said the rear needs work.
Writing for Road & Track, veteran automotive reviewer Matt DeLorenzo starts out by saying, "All Dodge has to do is build it, and buyers will come." buyers will be screamin' for Demon "if Dodge can stick to its brief of developing this 2-seat sports car with a sticker that starts at about $15,000." The Demon "should provide the same kinds of thrills as the Mazda Miata for thousands less and have a more aggressive look."
Talk about taking a Honda S2000 and putting that hideous Dodge "cross-hair" on the front. I can't believe they still slap that thing on the front of their cars.
To me the back end of the car looks a lot like the Audi TT. I don't really like this car, though. First of all, it looks bad, and second of all, it'll be a piece of crap because it's a Dodge. I've had my share of problems with Pacifica's, Intrepids, and Concordes (they weren't all mine). A friend had a Dodge Intrepid...its wheel fell off in the parking lot. Another friend had a Pacifica...the steering failed after less than 2 years after purchase. She payed about $4000 to fix it.
looks gay and heavy far from a sports car but atleast there learning.
if an american car well done best looking brick ive seen in a while shame it would need 500hp to keep up with sports cars of half that power. looks too boaty for my to even thing about buying.. sticks to the rx.
It's no where close to a Dodge Demon!!!! I own a 71 Demon and it is a factory V8 Car. Get rid of the damn 4 banger and stick in something beefier come on it's a light car that is RWD USE IT TO YOUR ADVANTAGE!!! and also it looks lieka cross of an S2000 and a BMW roadster.
Hi, The Porsche Boxster called. It'd like it's DNA back. Holding on line two for the s2000 and 350Z... you want to take their calls or should I tell them to call back later? LOL. No wonder their company is failing, they can't come up with fresh ideas.

People bought the Demon in the 70's because it looked cool and could be a great muscle car.
This piece of shit looks like
it came out of Japan.
Shelby updated the Cobra and it is huge accomplishment
from the original.
This shit-box looks like a Chicks car.
Shelby most probably had artistic licence, this is a product of a committee.
