  • I read that this song is a metaphor for the chaffing feeling a fella gets when they wear kilts. Or something like that.

  • best fricken voice around next to ultravox go midge

  • My favourite Spandau Ballet song =)

  • 3 people missed the Like button!

  • Any one know the name of the girl in this video ?

  • I like spandau music, I use it for thinking... Thanks for existing, spandau!

  • grandissimi

  • Strange lyrics - strange song. That's what makes it AWESOME! Another work of art by Spandau Ballet. Good job guys!

    >=B

  • @RattisBoB yes. you're a moron.

  • "Hmmm - bloosinglalunesinglagoooon!

    Vishesamakinmechay!

    Theartispetendinshitarr!

    Quesshtinishwhedooyoopayy!!!...."

This is pretentious and meaningless shit.

  • @dean0waterz Are you dumb or something? Look up the lyrics you fool. This music is called being creative with words. Think before you write idiotic comments next time, arsehole.

  • @RattisBoB you must be one of those hopeless idiots?

i know exactly what the lyrics say. i HAD to look them up because this cunt's pretentious attempts at singing makes them unintelligible.

upon looking them up i discovered the only thing more pretentious than his vocals, where the actual words he was supposed to be singing - which are also fucking meaningless.

"creative with words" could be used by any ignorant clown, to excuse any bullshit, and have it swallowed by losers. so you fail.

  • @RattisBoB good. dont argue as who needs to see anymore of your gimp bullshit in my inbox? You don't get to tell anyone what to watch or comment on you ignorant tool - by your own fucked-up logic, if you didn't like my comment why the fuck did you reply?!

Your'e fucking retarded - hence, you FAIL. No-one said it was a competition, therefore you FAIL. Furthermore "Failure" isn't a concept limited to competitive endeavour so, YET AGAIN, you FAIL.

Fuck you, you useless spastic whore. .

  • Comment removed

  • @RattisBoB You keep laughing -you haven't got the sense god gave a sack of shit, have you?

I already said your "advice" is just ignorance and failure - why tell me that you don't care and don't value strangers opinions? The action cancels the proposition, so you FAIL. If you don't value others opinions why do you expect me to value yours and listen your fucked-up "advice" in the first place: you FAIL. You just said you weren't going to argue: you FAIL.

I could go on, but you bore me whore.

  • @dean0waterz Oh come on, who cares if the lyrics are a bit silly? It's such a great song! It's made for dancing, not pondering over with a glass of wine!

  • Shades of Sir Guy of Gisbourne here Tones......like it!

  • This was one of the first songs they played at the concert in Melbourne last week! It was brilliant!

  • Back when Spandau Ballet wth their New Romantic Look and Sound.

  • Gary Kemp, so so underated it's criminal!

  • @ruthie10101010 True, he wrote all the songs of Spandau, music and lyrics. He owns it all;-)

  • To me, the early SB stuff was amazing and quite innovative mixing elements of soul, funk and electronica... however, they went poor IMO with stuff like Through The Barricades

  • uno dei pochi pezzi che mi piace dei Spandau. Cmq erano meglio i duran duran

  • for me, the LP "Journeys to Glory" was Spandau Ballet. this LP had it all, synth, funky bass lines and Hadleys powerful vocals.... yes!

    long live the 80's.....

  • Someone knows the meaning of the name of the band? When you know.... you never look Spandau Ballet in the same way! Believe me!

  • They're coming to Australia in April :D

    Back together again!

    I just bought tickets :D

  • Spandau at their best....

  • I much prefer the bands image at this stage + their music which really was art

  • Great electro synth track from Spandau which wouldn't sound out of place in the todays charts. Tony has a good look in this video which has some unusual visual effects, not quite sure what it all means tho'.

  • Think it is coming back into the chart to coincide with the anniversary of Journeys To Glory.

  • Phenomenal band.

  • ¿uo buıob s11ǝɥ ǝɥʇ ʇɐɥʍ

  • Yeah, and who is Julie?

  • Beautiful song, beautiful people...

  • Who's julie?

  • Gosh Julie looks so young and beautiful in this video. Looking forward to seeing Spandau Ballet in concert tonight in Birmingham.

  • Man these guys were gorgeous!!

  • They still are! Great musicians!

  • totally agree went to see them a few days ago in newcastle.

they were one of the best bands ive seen

    really really good...

  • Their European tour sucks because I'm not in Europe!

  • Where a re you then? America? Canada? Australia?

  • As others have mentioned, this is total Franz Ferdinand. Respect to Spandau Ballet for helping influence those guys!

Journeys To Glory is a great album, but after that I lose interest (no offence to the band, I just hate soul)...

  • Only 17 And Love Them xD

Going To See Them This October In The O2 Arena Going To Be Good xD I Can Remember Listening To Them When My Mum Put There Records On xD Good Old Days.

    There Brill!

  • im 25 and mum used to play their songs when i was very young, i will be there in manchester with my mum! Golden oldies

  • MAN ... i love this song and all things spandau ... When are they gonna hit north america (canada) for that reunion tour ... and GEEZ ... it's been decades now ... give the duran vr. spandau nonsense a rest already ... arent we all grown ups now ... there was always room for both ... since both brought different things to the music/fashion scene

  • I agree....

It's 2009 and people are still doing the whole Spandau vs. Duran...

People should be thankfull that such bands even made music and that we still can enjo them all these years later.

Both bands KICK ASS. And Spandau Ballet certainl did at this period, boy oh boy.

Steve Norman is THE hottest beast ever, hmmmm. What a hottie!

  • Well said mate DURAN AND SPANDAU are still the best 25 years on,,,,,

  • Talk Talk WERE better than both and more innovative if you hear their later albums. Talk Talk hated being labelled as New Romo.

  • but as far as i know Talk Talk (curious a double name like duranduran) first album was produced by ColinThurston which was a fundamental key to Duran sound and of the 80's

  • Have loved this all my life......

  • Tony Hadley at a wonderfull voice really, good période new wave ;)

  • yes is the first in this line

  • KurtWinger - Yep, Roxy Music started the whole New Romantic trend and are still the best. But I'm still a SB and Duran fan too.

  • truly original, their best song. great voice TH too

  • whos the girl

  • Duran Duran copied Spandau. They were brilliant tho! Its a toss up as to who won the best "New Romantic" band. I think "To cut a long story short" confirms it.

  • Duran Duran copied Spandau Ballet ...

    Woehahahaha ! Good one !

    Long live Duran Duran !

  • Duran Duran copied Spandau???

    Yes, right! in your dreams...

go to sleep... is too late!

  • More a less

  • Duran didn't copy Spandau & Spandau didn't copy Duran.

It was the time of great creativity, new tecnology & expression. Everyone was influenced by what was going on in the air at the time.

Yes, one can link bands like Spandau, Duran, Visage, Culture Club, ABC, Classix Nouveaux e.t.c... Because most came out of club culture. BUT most of these bands all has their own spin and groove. So copying is not the deal here! Copying exists more so nowadays, because there is NO creativity or passion left!

  • Well put! a great time..the best!!

  • @nouveauxdecadence Just watch the video of "do they know it,s x-mas"and see how Duran and Spandau guys relate to eachother, proves they where one club, with Wham, in factm Martin Kemp of Spandau married the background singer of Wham Shirley, they are still together;-) It,s the time of New Age, New Romantics, Spanday changec in music style draticly after the first 2 albums ;-)

  • @nouveauxdecadence And the above stuff is the reason i desperately wish i'd been around in that time; unfortunately i am stuck as a current 17-year-old, but i somehow tapped into the amazing world of New Romanticism/New Wave/synthpop and thoroughly appreciate/adore it all, rather thanpassively put up with the production-line conformist pop being churned out by the system at the moment like a lot of my peers do. :D

  • @shinysynthcity

Bless you, great to see teen's into New ROmo heaven !

  • On top of those Duran duran might have sued spandau, which in my opinion would have never commenced because they were 2 groups trying to make on their own back then.

  • I hope they come to the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, i'd be there for sure!!

  • catchy song. Who is the girl?

  • When is Spandau Ballet playing in the US? Specifically, the West Coast??? And I hope Steve doesn't blow out his knee again if they make it here.

  • VirtuallyKim - That is too funny - we skipped school to go to the show at the Henry K. in Oakland - but there was the sign on the door saying the show was canceled due to the knee injury. I still have the ad to that show, I have it scanned and posted online.

  • They are doing Liverpool yeah!!! Going to see them there in my home town.

  • Hey Franz, more stuff for u to plagerize, LOL!

  • Spandau's first album was more 'new romantic' than Duran's first.

  • Duran's 1st album was PLENTY "New Romantic". And Duran were the only band that sang the expresion "New Romantic" on Planet Earth.

Both were just as Romo on their 1st albums . Spandau were "BLITZ" London scene & wore more kilts and independant designer wear, Westwood & Pirate shirts e.t.c... Duran wore more traditional Frilly Blouses, Khan and Bell gear & more make up. And were involved in the Birmingham "Rumrunner" scene.

Whether New Romo, Electronic, White Boy Soul ... it was ALL creative

  • Franz Ferdinand

  • Ik vind spandau ballet helemaal geweldig

super te gek dat ze weer gaan touren

hoop dat ze ook in nederland komen

  • Brilliant song.

  • I was a kid too and just loved Spandau. Drove family and friends mad. Cannot wait to see them in October. Pity they are not playing Liverpool.

  • Comment removed

  • I always loved this song so catchy. I was a kid in the 80s and they were a great band. Going to see them in Manchester in October. Can't wait!!!!

  • awesome!

  • great song, their best. this whole album was brilliant

  • Spandau Ballet's first 2 albums were so fricking BRILLIANT! ... They had such a fabulous dance rhythm sound. Unfortunately, like MANY Early 80s bands. They sold out to America!

  • We had it great then. Barring grundge, it was the last era of musical invention. We had Run DMC, the Jam, the Smiths, New Order and Depeche, the Scorpions and Priest and Maiden. I like them all, great music and variety. Even the pop music was excellant back then.

  • 1980's.....THE BEST!!! Look at all the quality music we had. I'm an 80's kid and proud of it! (not proud of the shell-suits tho :-)

  • This is a great tune... so catchy a melody. I really liked the early 80s music from London and NY...fantastic musical era..... sad what on the radio these days.

  • fantastic song love it the 80s is the BEST

  • Fantasticos recuerdos de adolescencia, ojala el pop siguiera estos caminos hoy dia ...(por eso prefiero el ROCK)me recuerda al gothic metal suave de hoy dia.., muy buen tema!!

  • best

    song

    ever!!!

    i love spandau!

i want to kiss them all over!

    lol

  • classic!!

  • Blue sing la lune

    Sing lagoon

The visions are making me stay

The art is pretending it's art

The quetion is where do you pay ?

Unpack my case one more time

I'll cancel my train once again

    Destiny give me a day

    Erogenous zones win again

Hardly any lyrics, but who cares? the music so good!

  • The extended 12" version of this song is even better, totally amazing!

  • At the end of the day the hilarious part of the 80's was the lyrics...so much primping and preening when in reality it meant nothing....Great songs though and the eclectic senseless 'poetry' that came from that period is priceless......

  • Music videos didn't really make much sense back then, so I'll pardon this one for the "weird" factor. But this was a great tune from the 1st album.

  • what I think is fantastic is that there's a fair bit of music today that sounds similar to this :)

  • Cool 80s video! I wish I'd grown up in England in the 80s. 90% of my favorite music comes from that time & place.

  • excellent video and the song is a masterpiece

  • gotta agree the early Spandau Stuff was the best

  • Their early electro synth stuff was their best music. Shame they slowly switched to romantic mush ballads shortly after.

  • The early days - what fun!

  • This is their most underrated song; one of their best.Thank you for posting it.

  • How can you not enjoy this stuff!?!?! Great to see the Official Spandau channel!! Now how about something else official from Spandau Ballet?? (hint hint)

  • I LOVE this video! Loved the bands look...esp the scruffy singer! It's a good depiction of the early Spandau days...love that song too!
