  • I'm not a "hipster". I own one. I approve.

  • One of my buddies has an orange Chrome bag. Perfect color for day or night rides.

  • Hmmm, nice bag but still not near as sweet as my Pac Ultimate, but then it doesn'y cost near as much either. This whole mocking hipster thing is as tired s the arrow in the knee joke. Seriously, most everyone belongs or follows some group or style in this world. Hardly anyone is really original. Of those most are concidered uncool and don'y belong. Lets laugh at the idiots who wear pants below their ass while acting tough. Am I supposed to be intimidated by some kid who has to pull up his pants.

  • just bought that exact bag im from uk hope it gets here before school

  • a "secret pocket" for my "expensive oregano" ;)

  • I'm usually anti-hipster but this bag is freggin' awesome.

I'm a road bike enthusiast and usually an anti-track/fixie bike person. (Other than true track velodrome riders)

The only thing I don't like about it is the belt straps seam to get tangled as times.

What I love about it is it's durability and weatherproofing.

Usually backpacks and other messenger bags will only be waterproof for a few months until the repellent rubs off, but Chrome bags stay water resistant forever.

  • @dahgutone "anti-track/fixie bike person"

    0.o

    Ok...

  • "Hipsters" may love them, but every motorbike rider I know SWEARS by these bags: 1000 Denier, waterproof and slings well for the Vespa/Motorscooter set while riding make it a great commuter bag. As someone who rides everywhere, I have been STRONGLY thinking about this bag since it's the strongest built non-backpack out there. Hipster or not, I need a bag that can take a fall and a drag and hold up to weather. This is built like my riding jacket and I like that!

  • If I get this bag, am I officially a hipster?

  • @KarthXLR No. The simple fact that there is a video made to review this bag that has been seen by more than 2 people instantly means that the company who makes them are "sell-outs". Now, Hipsters will move to something like custom made rice sacks marketed by Apple (because that's ironic) or some such thing. If the Yugo can become a popular "Hipster" car, you know something practical won't last as a Hipster icon

  • how will water not get in if it closes via a flap only?

  • My Chrome Messenger Bag, a poetical "detournement" by brighton dechienne Alas, my Chrome Messenger bag! how lean and low! My silken Chrome Messenger bag! what art thou now! One I beheld—but stocks will fall— When both thy ends had wherewithal. When I within thy slender fence My fortune placed, and confidence; A poet’s fortune!—not immense: Yet, mixed with keys, and coins among, Chinked to the melody of song. FIN. • I got a better/similar messenger bag from eastsport at walmart for 20$ dollars...

  • @Skyelitpro I had that, it sucks.

  • @Johnny2k1X How so?

  • @Skyelitpro it lasted a few months but the strap started to tear, and im the kind to really take care of my things, plus it was a light waterproof but it couldnt withstand water at all, it was more drizzle proof.

  • @Johnny2k1X Ah... I don't know. I'm not really willing to pay more than a hundred dollars for a backpack, unless it came with a lot of room as well as being durable and just generally a good bag. Plus this is my first messenger bag so maybe when I'm actually in college I'll get this bag...

  • You forgot (or don't know about) the stash pocket which is one the side that carries down when you are wearing the bag. It is designed for couriers to be able to hide cash and access it easily. It seals with the same velcro as the top.

  • Does this bag have a bit that holds a D-Lock like other messenger style bags?

  • I know it's dumb, but I just can't get beyond the stylish factor. I'd prefer to use something known for quality alone rather than being fashionable. Plus the seatbelt buckle seems really unnecessary for the weight and rust magnet factor it adds. The velcro is kind of silly when MOLLE webbing is so much more available and reliable. I reaaaaaaaaaally dig the waterproof bit, though, and the reflective stuff. More bags need reflective options upon purchase.

  • I own it! it's great!

  • does anyone know if you can fit an A2 book in this??

  • Why cant they just use MOLLE instead of silly Velcro half-secure strap.

  • I got a question to the Citizen users:

I´m not a messenger, just a commuter who does a lot of stop and go, locking and unlocking my bike quite often.

Is it possible so "sling" your bag around so its in front of your stomach, so you can access it and don`t need hold it with one hand.

This would come in handy when leaving a building walking to your bike.

I have an Ortlieb (great bag), but its a classical backpack.

  • @blammblamm Yes, you can sling it in front.

  • I honestly don't care how hip I look while wearing mine. Its too nice of a bag and I'm not going to not use it because of what other people will think.

  • apparently you have alot of friends O__O

  • I found out about these pretty recently when I was looking for a bag I could wear more comfortably than a regular old cheapo Jansport backpack. I hate that hipsters all have them, but I like the design a lot, and it's something I can have on at all times without ever getting fatigued. I like having the load on my back while sitting more snugly on my body...a regular two-strap backpack can't do that, and other messenger bags just hit your left leg a lot. This bag is fantastic and perfect.

  • Damn those stupid hipsters!!!

    Where is the hidden stash!!!

  • @METEK101 Unfortunately, the hidden stash pocket is only on the Metropolis size. =(

  • does the citizen have a hidden stash pocket?

  • theyre expensive.....were can buy one cheaper

  • @MyBombita well on karmaloop you can get one that started at 200 and now is 150...

  • @MyBombita Shop = $140, eBay = $120 (ex. postage) or check out forums lfgss!!

  • I've been using this bag for the past 5 years. It is durable and sturdy and have traveled the globe with me. No rips or tears.

Please don't discredit it due to the recent popularity amongst the "hipster" population.

  • @wy4786 So true - don't judge something by how others view but by its quality! Impartial judgements = the best kind of judgements

  • bags is copy of john peters original messenger bag from 1985. nothing new there. not made from recycle. made in china!!

  • @MANPORT555 first get your facts right. Chromebags are made in U.S.A just like Timbuk2. Nobody gives a damn about john peters. Its a bag no one cares where the design came from.

  • timbuck2 has a little mfg in SF for custom stuff, the rest are made in china or vietnam. furthermore they do not know how to make bag as is evident by their curled up flap because of improper sewing and wrong materials. go to flickr.com and type in john peters new york for a full review. I'm not being a wise guy just setting the record straight.

  • @MANPORT555 does it fucking matter?

  • timbuk2 is better

  • Hello every one I am making a brand new video review of this bag but a size bigger so sub to my channel for that!!!!!

Also to help people out with sizing....

Mini metro- this is by no means a bag you want to use for carrying things for school or loads that have a lot... But it is defiantly a great bag to have if you only need to carry small things (lock, keys, phone, small coat, a book or two)

The Citizen- The citizen is almost great for every one needing to carry a FEW books and some shoes, d

  • Chrome Corsair Messenger are does small???

  • @beatnuts323 they are the same size as these bags but they don't have the car seat buckle

  • The only thing keeping me from getting one of these: Is there a convenient external place to stow my krypto-lock?

  • Yea..... i am only like 30 bucks away from that beautiful bag!!!!! cant wait to get it... my friend has one it is sooooo good and definatly worth the money and will last LONG!!!!!!!

  • forgot to add that these are hand made in the USA and carry a life long warranty

  • I AM A HIPSTER AND I ENJOY THIS BAG.

    PEACE DAWGS, HIPSTER OUT

  • Who wears wet suits to the gym? Also, this guy has a lot of friends, with lots of hits.

  • Cool bag, Great Review. Thank you

  • These bags are bulletproof... Hence why you see them everywhere.

  • Good clear, eloquent, and objective review.

  • Im short (like 5'2) and im 16 will the mini metro one be good for me or the citizen

  • @TooFastTooGood citizen or metro cause your in highschool

  • 140 bucks holyy Sh**T lol

    5/5 though

  • Hi. My ring just slides loosely up and down the strap. As far as I can tell, levering the latch up and out loosens the strap the same way pulling the ring would, (and the ring , when slid down, holds the loose end to the strap), but I'd like to use it the way it was intended... HELP!

  • do they come with the third strap? the stabilizer strap is SUPER nice but some don't have it

  • Why would you give away their secret about the money? Haha

  • It may be pricey but the hipsters just keep eating'em up like candy.

  • @jumpthemap seriously. i think thats why they are so expensive :( supply and demand

  • @jumpthemap worth every dollar

  • @jumpthemap Shouldn't you be talking th item up instead of discouraging people from buying it by labeling them "hipsters"?

  • @jumpthemap @jumpthemap Shouldn't you be talking the item up instead of discouraging people from buying it by labeling them "hipsters"?

  • Wow, That's pricey!

I think I'll stick to my Bench Messenger Bag, 15€ on sale :P
