Question for anyone familiar with the series:

I've never played a Final Fantasy game but I'd like to give it a try. Would this game be a good place to start, or are there better ones? In other words, which would be the best introduction to the series, gameplay-wise? (I know there's no continuity between them, so I'm asking about the story.)

1) Great story filled with great characters with lots of surprising plot twists.

2) Fucking amazing music.

3) The battle system is the standard turn based FF battle system with a few upgrades, but strategy is greatly required in many boss battles.

The game is exceptionally well written but yes sometimes the dialogue can be a bit exaggerated. This is understandable because when FFX came out, voice acting for all games in general were usually sub par and FFX was actually one of the better ones. By today's standards, the voice acting is a bit lacking but if you can get past this, you will experience one of the most memorable and enjoyable games ever. As for the goofing looking characters, I can't understand that. They look fine to me.

@scratchhh187 oh it is amazing, i assure you the ones who say its crap think FF7 is the best -.-. Reason 1 - You cannot hate any of the characters.. they are all amazing :D. Reason 2 - Has one of the best FF Bosses in the whole franchise ( IMO Anyway ). Reason 3 - Like KuRoTsUbAsA said .. it has fucking amazing music :)

....I f-ing hate Seymour! In my opinion, Seymour was not a very good villain! He annoyed me, especially when you face him not once...not twice...BUT THREE F-ING TIMES!!! Each one more complicated than the last!....but that's just me. I mean Sin was a better bad guy and he didn't even do much (okay, he killed a lot of people but that's beside the point). Don't get me started on Tidus (...just don't). But again, this is my opinion.

I love the story in this just for the reasonance it has with our society to do with religion. I also like the way they toy with the theories of death and the afterlife. All in all this is a great game, and anyone who disagrees has a right to their opinion. No need for the constant arguing.

yea i use to love this game, back when i was a kid i had to use the cheat codes. i had to get far in the game so the story could continue, i did not care about the gameplay i just cared about the story. i beat the game about 30 times over and over again thats how much i loved the story. i doubt the new one could ever live up to this

I have only played X, X-2 and Xii. X was a freaking masterpiece, X-2 could get a little ridiculous but it was great too, but the Xii was just a big vaste of money. I hated the battle system, the licence system and last but not least Vaan. He had NO personallity and the voice acting was garbage.

I think it's kind of weird/ironic how in the beginning Sony said they didn't want any rpgs on their console, and then years later, the system became the rpg console lolz :) FFX was my first FF game (DoC was actually) but now I hate it after playing other FF games, I realized how flawed X was, and off-track. No moogles, no chocobos (you can't ride them), no airships (can't control them), no leveling up (what is an rpg without leveling up!!?).

i wouldn't. FF X was epic and one of the best Final Fantasy games of the entire series. X-2 however was a joke. They ditched nearly all the traditional FF elements and introduced nothing revolutionary. The lack of summons was hugely noticeable. The only upside was the eyecandy female characters.

this game is pretty average, they took away the brilliant world map, you can no longer ride your boat or airship, it has embarrasing voice acting, the bad guy looks like a big shit. ff9 has actually aged better than this. 5/10

how long is it? how much? does it have good replay value? are there side quests? are there multiple endings? can u replay levels? how many diff characters can u get? what weapons can u get? are the levels unique or are the same every time is there good customization? does changing your armour change your appearance or not? can u play after you have beaten it or is it over when the credits start? can u have multiple save slots or just one?

the game is pretty long and its really cheap now and LOTS of side quiest no multiple ending and LOTS of replay value, more than half a dozen character GOOD AMOUNT OF WEAPON its like going on a journey with the characters your appearance don't change U, lots of save slots......get it dude its only like 10 bucks since its old.
