  • fuck pride man pull that damn reserve lol

  • I only went to airborne school, a five jump chump. My hat is off to you and other service members who went to airborne school and/or an airborne unit. Thank you for your service sir. Airborne!

  • "And he ain't gonna jump no more"

Thanks for your service sir, I'm looking to join the military one day. For now I'll stay a college student and wait till I go ROTC.

  • reaching for the ground? you didnt seem to fall faster than your chalk...and why pop the resey when you have a fully depolyed chute that would just make matters worse for you...

  • 2ndBn 10thSFG(A)...89-97!

  • C 2 / 325 abn inf 82nd 1983 - 1986. AIRBORNE MY BROTHER thanks for serving

  • what happened to the chute? it looked like you were decending a lot faster than the guys around you.

active duty navy thank you for your service.

  • Damn that sucks..Atleast you were actually jumping as a Ranger..Must of been a crazy experience.

Thanks for your service..again that just sucks it had to end this way..

  • I could be wrong, but he looked like he was falling faster than the other chutes around him. I've had a similar experience and it fucks you up because it's harder to properly plf when you hit that hard. I'm sorry for the injury, good luck in the future.

  • So what happened exactly?

  • Cant wait to be AIRBORNE!!!!!!!!!!

  • can someone explain what happened to make it such a bad landing? was it just the terrain or conditions? im not Airborne savvy

  • @maccas1329 By the looks of it, I'd say a bad PLF (the position you adopt to roll properly on impact) but only the uploader knows I guess. Maybe it's just bad luck, or maybe it was one of those jumps where you are gonna plumet in anyways lol. Could also be the parachute itself: older canopy means higher porosity, so increased rate of descent.

  • @TheFunky57 righto, thanks for that :D

  • I do not want to insult your intelligence... but isn't there a chance that if you weren't "distracted" by recording with that camera maybe you wouldn't have broke your leg?

  • What's with all the ''deploy your reserve'' comments? You have a perfectly good chute over your head, the last thing you wanna do is risk entanglement unless it's an absolute must lol. I have about 60 jumps and I came in hot quite a few times but deploy the reserve for that, really? Maybe some folks on here don't quite get the physics behind parachutes lol...

Cpl Desrosiers, Parachute Rigger, CFLAWC (Canadian Forces Land Advanced Warfare Center)

    AIRBORNE!

  • that view, looking at the plane leaving you is beautiful

  • When large airborne operations went out of fashion in the 50's, why do they still keep training so many airborne troops? Airassault is the way. Let the few SOF guys who need it go and jump, but the rest....is it really necessary?

  • @Pippin76 Operation Rhino dropped jumpers into DZ rhino, Afghanistan and opened the door for the MEU guys to helo in the next morning into LZ rhino. 173rd jumped into northern Iraq to prevent Iraqi units from the north diverting to the south and getting in the way. Fact is Airborne delivery is the fastest means to get a lot of men and equipment on the ground pronto. Air Assault is great if you have a division of helos to move you... or you could use a few C-17s...

  • @Lowdownparatrooper Ok, but as I understand OP Rhino was basically for propaganda purposes - little to no resistance was expected. I'll grant you the 173rd one :) But still, its a logistical nightmare with lots of potential for costly mishaps. Btw, I believe the marines air assaulted into Rhino from the arabian golf.

  • For all the good folks who have never made a drop the Army way, you can have 4 soft landings and your fifth might feel like you jumped with no chute at all. It can knock the wind out of you when you touch down in the DZ. It's a phenomenon, no one can answer why. Air drafts, up or down, pulling up on the risers too late, who knows. I have had at least a dozen or more that right before you hit you think this is going to hurt! It does and those are the ones you remember. GO AIRBORNE, 1969

  • Decided finally to make a comment to all those who have commented on my video. I will say this to all the people who have watched my video and left very nice things to say- Thank you very much.. It was my pleasure to serve my country on several fronts as a Ranger. To those who left neg. comments- yeah should of pulled my reserve but that was a matter of pride, 96 jumps and never did. my recorder was attached to my harness and wasnt a distraction. If u didnt like my video frankly I dont care

  • @irishmadman4u matter of pride?? Ha-ha-ha!! It's matter of your life, idiot!

  • @SquadRus Obviously you are not a service member. Our pride extends far beyond our lives, idiot.

  • @retardification1 oh, yes. I suppose you don't use seatbelts and brakes too.

  • @irishmadman4u If you don't mind me asking, what happened that caused you to have injuries? Did your chute malfunction? I'm considering airborne so I'm curious.

  • @Dominotheturtle thin egyptian air makes you fall faster, didn't pull reserve (i wouldn't have either if i had nearly 100 jumps under my belt and never had to pull it), and possible bad plf.

    2/75

    Lead the way!

  • @irishmadman4u Seems Like you nailed the PLF. Nothing you could have done any better.

  • I ended my career on a bad jump as well. broke my hip. not cool dude.

  • Here's to you bro. God bless you for your dedication and service to your country. Something the 'candy asses' among us will never know.

  • THATS WHAT YOU GET FOR JUMPING WITH A CAMERA DICK HEAD

  • I just recently jumped 1250 AGL over Luzon at Fort Bragg....exit was awesome, but I hit the FLS and when I hit, I instantly knew a broke something in my lower back, L1 compression fracture. I felt it right away.....where was my adrenaline!? lol.... may be career ending. Airborne! ughhhh

  • get tight!!!

  • wow you took all those injuries very well

  • @juniorhtown Adrenaline you won't feel anything till like 10 seconds after you hit

  • I was always pretty good at the famous 3-point PLF: Feet, knees and face.

  • I'd say no PLF was involved...so feet, knees, hospital.

  • wow great memories!!!!

  • Just having the bravery to jump outta a plane, to defend all of us, you are a true hero my friend! Hope ur on the mend and feeling much better again! Thank you for your service! Respect!!

  • If you knew you were burning in why not deploy the reserve? I have had some hard hits, but usually on night jumps where the ground level is not so clear...

  • feet & knees dumbass.

  • Hahaha! That brings back memories! Although before I would hit the ground, it was followed by mutiple "oh shits!"! Great vid man!

  • jesus you kept your composure well... that must have been so painful with those injuries!!!!

  • oooowwwwww

  • I still get an adrenaline rush just watching these videos. I got to get back to Bragg so I can jump again.

  • AIRBORNE!!! man, watching this video...man, i got all queezy when you were about to land, even though im just watching right now, i still get that feeling!!

  • omg. Its raining American heroes. Cool.

  • God we all know the feeling of the last 25 feet or so when you know that it's gonna hurt. I would lie if told you that I missed jumping. Glad those days are behind me.

    Airborne all the way!!!

    1-319 82nd ABN Division 7/1999 to 3/2003.

  • LOL! Dude, I can't remember how many times I thought "this is probably gonna hurt" when I was about 50 feet from the ground. My worst one was in Panama back in '91, hit on the downswing of an oscillation that I couldn't get corrected while riding my ruck in because the goddamn old-style H-harness wouldn't release. I think I know what a football feels like when it gets spiked now. Feet and knees together, AIRBORNE!

  • Man, great exit and great video of the other sticks but a rough landing. I had 187 of these and several in winter that felt as hard as yours but I have managed to not break anything except an ankle on a rough landing in Austria. I had a few near misses with ground hazards though. I hope you all the best Airborne.

  • These are some brave souls serving our country... Thank you all. I hope irishmanmand4u is doing well.

  • im glad u ok homie. kinda funny when you kne it was coming because you said "this is going to hurt i think. oh shit right before it happened" but happy u living bro. and whatever advice you can give me for this will help a lot

  • Ship Date: June 13, 2011. GOING FOR AIR BOURNE!!

  • @PVTCortright good luck i had fun

  • Sorry about the career ending jump. I made my 5 in Egypt too ('85 Bright Star). Egyptian Jump School was a trip. Far cry from German Jump School and of course the real jump school at Benning.

    Airborne all the way!!!

  • That was a high ass jump. I remember about 45 seconds of actually being in the air. I was with 3/504 82nd a number of years ago and I had 37 jumps during my enlistment and I can honestly say I don't miss jumping out of planes. Jumping into Ft. Polk, Andrews AFB, and all the other DZ's around Bragg, scary every time!

  • was it the way you landed?

  • My father was in SF for twenty years as a medic, and when they would do night-jumps people would get fractured/broken ankles and be yelling "DOC! DOC!" all over the place. One time a guy landed ina tree and got strangled to death before they could get to him...but don't let that discourage you, glad your OK.

  • so with a broken leg you were able to say geez that was one of the hardest landings of my life.... hmmm lol...

  • How much trouble would you get in for putting a chew in while descending?

  • im getting airborne off my contract fuck that :S

  • Fuck man that's gotta suck. my buddy got the risers wrapped around his neck, almost killed the guy.

how high were u guys anyways? looked a fair bit over 1000, jus sayn :P

  • Im guessing that was about 3200 feet. Excellent video brother and I am sorry for your injury. Airborne for life!!!!! All the way and then some!

  • Great video! Too bad you got hurt. I could name so many guys who got injured doing that. I remember one guy who had his chute collapse at 50 feet or so and got a double hernia he hit so hard. I loved your video especially on exiting the bird. It captures the experience perfectly.

  • After graduating jump school, how can you secure a spot in an airborne unit or at least have a better chance of landing in an airborne unit? Thanks for the help!

  • thats a long ass jump dude...

  • What a rookie. Way to get hurt.

  • maybe if you were not too busy filming everything, you would have had a proper PLF... Jackass

  • @KingJohnXXVIII i hope you are kidding. he injured himself, its not uncommon. unfortunately it was a bad one that ended his career. doenst make him a jackass just unlucky. go fist yourself

  • So what went wrong?

So I don't make the same mistake.

    Sorry about the injury

  • That sucks dude.

    Did you burn in?

  • holy shit what altitude was that from?.. I'd love to do one from that high.. sick of these 800ft jumps

  • I almost get misty eyed watching this. I served with the 82nd almost 25 years ago now. How I miss my brothers. Wish I could do it all over again.

Sorry your career ended with this jump but like me you can always cherish the memories!! AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY!!!!!!!!!!

  • that seriously looked painful...im going to sign up for SOAR. about how fast do u fall and wats the altitude for jumping?

  • terrorist:"look sir floating mushrooms.

terrorist leader: Allah!!! its the second coming of Muhammed! Run for your lives.

  • Thats what you get for not keeping feet and knees together and executing a propper PLF.You give airborne a bad name good luck in "Legland"

  • aside of the crash,

looks like fun to hang there in the sky with all you're buddies =D

  • getting hurt always sucks but at least you didn't get hurt like a leg, twisting an ankle getting off a damn truck! profile ranger!

  • ok so i stopped watching when you said "this is gonna hurt i think" I remember every single jump i did at about 50ft AGL the "oh shit oh shit oh shit" starts.

The funny thing is that you hear everyone else doing it as they land around you.

  • gutsy stuff...

  • feel for you bro.

  • Stinks man but great video to document

  • Night jump landings were my worst. My second one in battalion was lucky. C-130 mass tac and I was third to last out. I landed in a freaking bush taller than I was. It was all gravy until I had to pack my chute. I felt bad for whoever shook than one out! 1/509 ALL THE WAY

  • Does it really hurt that bad when you land? I really want to join when i get out of school this year and im trying to learn all about it!

  • @hinder4lifep00nz no not always, it depends on the wind and on the ground if its soft or not, but gl to you in your career, and remember, feet and knees together

  • @hinder4lifep00nz No, train the plf untill it is an automatic movement. And al those talking and screaming girls in the air? If we talked we got serious trouble with instructors. They hear everything on the ground. it is supposed to be tactical training i think...

  • JUMPMASTAAAA!!! What about "check static line?" Ha...loved the video brother!

  • a guy in my old co. a 2/325, do "the big thud" in fla. the lucky sob landed in a muddy sink hole! they kept him for observation...then let him come back out to the field. not a damn scratch, just dirty pants!

  • Dude sorry it fucked you up, but awesome video! Good sound, picture, everything. Check out mine, not as good, but you can tell what's going on. AATW

  • I did my second (successful) practice throwout Thursday and if I HADN'T of done a PERFECT PLF I'm sure I would have broken several bones if not my face. Actually cartwheeled over my back but came out with just a grass stain and a scratch on my arm. I was embarrassed a bit but then I got a ton of compliments for doing the "best PLF anyone had ever seen." Praise God it didn't hurt me!

  • Man I wish I could have been videotaping my worst landing. Let's just say somebody with a lot of rank was a pay-hurt, so we jumped in weather conditions we shouldn't have. It was like midnight, 25 knot gusts with zero visibilty, and some leg from germany was told by a jumpmaster to leave a humvee unattended on the DZ. They said it looked like I bouced off the back of that truck, with a half twist and a back flip, and landed on my helmet on the other side

  • I know it dont compare, but I broke the ball joint in my right foot my first jump. It really is riskier than a lot of people know

  • I feel for you brother. Landings were the worst part of being Airborne.

    I destroyed my back.

  • He made a PFL instead of a PLF. The jumper knows what I mean.

  • im guessing the problem was busy filming and not busy landing haha

  • was it a mistake you made while landing or was that actually something else like the wind that might of messed you up. I'm trying to learn as much as possible before going so that I don't end up in the same situation .

  • Wind? What wind?

  • Ouch..Man, thank god ur still alive n kickin...

Check out this vid: paratroops midair collision - 2 dead.

    watch?v=rVXJoKVtZ1Y

anyone can tell what went wrong?? pls no foul language. Hv respect to deceased families.

  • nothing went wrong... it was his last jump in the military. alot of guys like to video the last jump including me, to remember it.

  • will u just copy the whole fucking link man, cus i just have to fucking copy the other half n e way and you have to carefully select half, whats the fucking point just click to buttons and its all copied, its so annoying

plus ur vids been deleted terms and cond violation.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm 13 and I'd love to become an paratropper when I get to that phase, but right now I'm not fit enough. I can't even do a pull up. I weigh around 155 -160. also can mexicans join the army because i happen to be one but i was born in the U.S and my parents were born in mexico. they will proberly make me run harder then the americans.LOL and also is jump school free.

  • If your a US citizen then sign up bud it doesnt matter.

  • sweet

  • And yes jump school is free they pay you while you are there, because this is all voluntary.

  • Does your school have a conditioning class? Sign up for it if it does.

  • I am so sorry for that. My boyfriend is in the 82nd Airborne and this stuff right here is what scares me.

  • Shit man! Sorry to hear that. Sounds like it hurt like a bitch!

  • did you flare?

  • Man i hated jumping the T-10

  • shouldn't have been looking at the ground my friend... what happened... forget to slip?

  • That's no career ender...bobbybigfox said it right...that's the highest jump i've ever seen...pay attention next time, hollywood

  • I feel you. I've hit so hard I thought I saw sparks, (was actually seeing stars from getting my bell rung).

Also- watching the plane fly away as it continues disgorging pax is one of the coolest things I have ever seen. After being in the plane so long it is eerie silence. Btw- you guys got dropped high enough you could have slipped back to your house.

  • Ouch ! I felt that ! "Feet and knees together ! Eyes on the Horizon !" "Pull your rear risers before you hit !" Ahh just like it was yesterday. I made 46 jumps with the old T-10 (Sport jumps) but I wasn't carrying a 100lb of gear !

  • Damn that was hard. Glad to know you are ok!

  • That's bad.

  • that was one high ass jump his fault he was hurt if that is what he means

  • I'm curious as to how high this jump was... Over 60 seconds of air time... Wow...

  • Maybe if he wasn't so preoccupied with commentating and filming he would have not gotten hurt!

  • ooh! That even sounded like it hurt! I've got 2 jumps in 82nd, yea, I know, thats not very many! but its still fun though!

    Airborne All the way!

  • when you get 40+ it wont be fun but more of a chore.but yeah early on its definetly a rush

  • I always eat S#!+ when I least expect it. Hollywood, daytime fun jumps, steerable chutes, tailgates. Gimme a 240 and a 90 lb ruck and a T-10C out of the door of a C-130 in the middle of the night over Sicily DZ and it's like butter. Maybe I'm reaching for the ground. Any advice?

  • Brings alot of memories with the T-10.. ALWAYS HARD LANDING.. IT SOUNDED LIKE ME

  • i goto jump school this month, hopefully i survive throughout my career. i hear its alot like riding a motorcycle. its fun but expect to wreck yourself but get back up and enjoy.

  • great vid man.. Hope you didn't get hurt to bad.

  • This Jump in Egypt ended my career ended with a torn groin, torn visceral lining of my stomach, broken leg, and concussion.

  • Shake it off Hooah!! Nice Vid. Nice reaction.

  • Feet and knees together...Airborne

  • Well, at least you got a really nice video out of it. :)

  • Damn man...great vid, bad fall, but at least you're still alive and with us.

  • Ouch. Sorry u got hurt man.. Keep your head held high w/ Pride, Coz your AIRBORNE!. As long as you don't end up like the rookie in the song Gory Gory Then it's alright.

  • Amazing!

  • Terrific video! Sorry to hear about your injuries. I permanently injured my lower back on a night jump when it was so dark that I could not even see the ground. Later, when I compared notes with other guys injured on the same jump, we concluded that the air crew could not see the DZ very well either and that we jumped as low as 600 feet. It seemed as though I hit the ground right after I did my canopy check. It was damn dark that night.

  • I was 82nd from 91 to 94. I had 44 jumps and they all seemed like that lol.

  • Thank you for your service. AIRBORNE!

  • Whoa dude! that was hard core. I don't think I could get myself to do that.

  • aww sucks that that endded your career but man i bet your heart was pumpin waiten for the green light

  • That's rough man. I'm sorry to hear that you got hurt. PLF!! What altitude were you dropped from? It looked abnormally high for static line. Maybe it was just the dust.

I just did my first night jump with equipment last weekend, tailgate C-130, I fortunately had a perfect landing.

  • how do u deal with something that ends your career, im guessing u went through some depression, i jsut had a possibly career ending injury, hopefully not, im pretty down, good luck to you and many that musta hurt!

  • That was just bad luck, plain and simple. I was a towed jumper, damaged my arm, but it was the landing that ended my career. My head hit something when I unraveled, I was knocked silly, and did a bad PLF (dislocated ankle). Arm is fine now, but I still have that darn limp. All The Way Brother!

  • LOL sux bro. What kinda jump was that ? No RUck? I was never that lucky after Abn School , 11B LOL we always jump combat loads. Oh and we dont call them PLF its actually PFL's if you dont know then you were'nt jumping heavy LOL

  • I hurt my back on a jump into Egypt. This was Op Bright Star in 84/85 time frame. I was with 2/508

  • I never had a hard landing, but I was a towed jumper once. Ripped the shit outta my forearm.

  • Murphy had your number on that jump...when you tense up and anticipate the landing, it generally hurts ALOT MORE...loved night jumps cuz you couldn't gauge your height as well, which meant no anticipation.

  • Ruck up Airborne. We all had bad landings. All my jumps and i never did a correct PLF. Sounds like you started to panic just before you hit.

  • AIRBORNE! HOOAH!<---did I spell that right? It's been 6 yrs since I was airborne in Fort Bragg. I was only a specialist then, But I must have been crazy then because I am afraid of heights, and always have been. Don't know if any of you Airborne soldiers remember a Specialist Phalen? He died on the 30 foot Jump tower during training at Fort Bragg. Line broke as he jumped out mock door. Freak Accident. Then about two weeks later, I was one of the soldiers to test out the new lines. Scary stuff.

  • Well my point was, You can jump your whole career and not get scratched. Then some can jump a few times, and get hurt for life. Sorry bout your accident Irishmadman.

  • holy shit dude...haha good thing i saw this...still excited to go to airborne..I leave May 30th

  • Damn...I'm gonna enlist in January of '09 and I plan on getting Airborne in my contract, but that shit sounds like it HURTS! Oh well. Can't say that people who jump out of perfectly good airplanes are all that smart, so if you're gonna be dumb you gotta be tough! AIRBORNE!

  • Actually I had been injured only 4 times in the # of jumps that I had. Some say that u have to have a screw loose 2 be airborne but I highly recommend that anyone who goes in2 the army goes Airborne,Ranger, or S.F. U will find that U R among the best trained, fit & tactically sharp soldiers the military has 2 offer, which is a great since of security when ur in a combat zone. Best of luck in your military future & remember Keep your feet and knee's together.

  • I'm definitely not looking forward to do doing PLF's over and over and over again, but I AM looking forward to enlisting. Thanks for the advice and furthermore thanks for the wishes! Take care of yourself, this country owes you!

  • dude, don't be a wuss! Jumping ROCKS! Sometimes you just have a bad day.

  • @Tribulation725 Trust me there is not such thing as a perfectly good place. :)

  • I actually wasnt falling that much faster except for the last 100 feet or so.When I went to slip into the wind to land it only made me go faster in the same direction and then I lost my air.

  • didnt look he was falling much faster than the other guys!

  • When you said 'this is going to hurt I think'. Was there some indication of something happening like your chute collapsing or did you have broken suspension lines or just a bad day?

  • My chute was fine, this jump was like no other I had been on in 90 jumps. None of my counter measures for the wind worked in fact they just sped me up. BAD DAY.

  • DUDE! Your sounded so casual after you landed, U got guts

  • thanks for the kudos but honestly it really wasnt that I was casual it was that I could bearly talk because I had torn the lining in my stomach.
