  • must take a while waxing that thing!

  • This music reminds me of my last mushroom trip

  • andi believe sharks are attracted to red..... nice wetsuit i want one

  • i like surfing a 7'10 august board in galveston texas

  • This is the most graceful surfing. Is it possible to buy a 12 ft gun and surf in small waves and achieve the same kind of smoothness and glide?

  • @rashb Thankyou for the compliment, it was my first session on the board for 18 months so I was a bit uncoordinated but as you can see she's a smooth board. Most 12 foot guns are not ideal for the job as they are too narrow and light, but 12 feet is a good length, I have several 12 foot boards which are very good gliders. It's just a matter of getting the design right.

  • @RoyStewart Thanks for your response sir. I'm fascinated by these big boards for the sheer glide factor. This 12ft gun I was looking at is plenty wide 12' x 23.75" x 3.75. I'm trying to find something to simulate your board on the cheap or at least that kind of glide. With you having riding some huge boards would you say the difference in glide between 10''6 and 12 ft is not that much. Or is it drastic?

  • @rashb Well it all depends upon the other design factors, in particular width and weight . There is a big difference though, all else being equal. I'd have to see the board you are looking at but what I've seen of most so called gliders out there is that they are like noseriding shapes with a slight point at each end... rather parallel in the planshape. That feature makes them poor at turning in trim. They also tend to be too thick for good control.

  • woah does it really cost 852k us dollars that is Awe-So-MEEEEE

  • what does it weight?

  • @johnvquiney 70 pounds

  • nice waves!

  • Thanks, yes it's expensive but nice !

  • @RoyStewart how much does it cost ?

  • @dozeberrypillboy an incredible sum, designed for wall st burglars and rock stars

  • @RoyStewart i happen to be a wall st burglar

    how did you know ?

  • @dozeberrypillboy If I told you . . . well you know the rest ;) I have a new 19 foot 'Olo of the Sun' under construction, 852k (US) or equivalent in silver and gold .

  • @RoyStewart you telling me that it cost $852,000 USD ?

    come on man

I have a 10 foot nose rider that cost me a grand

  • @dozeberrypillboy I don't make nose riders, they are inefficient trick boards. The price is correct.

  • @RoyStewart I live on the east coast and 10' is a huge board

you must be pulling my leg about the cost ($800,000)

very nice board though, I would not mind having one

  • Great video, thanks!

  • The way it moves on the wave is sensual

  • Where do you find these beautiful boards to restore. Absolutley cracking vid

  • Thanks very much for the compliment, actually they are all boards I've made myself. The one in this video was built in 2003

  • Mate you are a true craftsman! What would one of these boards cost it's easily the most beautiful board i've seen and i have some old one's.

  • Thanks again. She's lovely to ride, quite an experience. The price is $29k for a new 17 like this one.

  • Unfortunatley thats outta my price range as I'm sure it would be most people. Can totally understand that price though as I'm sure there would be many hours of work to produce one of these beautiful things. There cannot be to many people left with your skills. Next time I'm in NZ I'll definatley check out your museum.

  • Where and how did you ever learn how to make these boards ?

  • I seems that the surfboards were meant to be. I've been surfing since 1965, and made a few wooden paipos back in 1970 with my cousin. I've always been a student of boatbuilding, yacht and surfboard design, and in 1994 while living a reclusive Island life I had a flash of inspiration which showed a new method of wooden surfboard construction. Since then it's been a continuous process of inspiration, logical progression, board creation and surfing, here in New Zealand

  • @RoyStewart $29000!!!!!!!!!!!!??????? holy crap thatts some serious jones. lol but realy nicccceeeee board

  • The board was broken in a shorebreak pound in 2004 and we took 18 months to rebuild her.

  • holy cow you don't even need a decent wave to use that board

  • Just a stir mate- I mean- how much can a Koala bear... truly !

  • ALIEN ON OLO IN NZ ! AHHHHHH ! ! !

  • Only a few miles from where he was born 48 years earlier

  • jWhere was the video taken??

  • Main Beach Mount Maunganui New Zealand

  • are yall from galveston area? because im pretty sure thats a fry board isnt it?

  • i highly doubt fry ever made 12ft, redwood, surfboards. think that symbol is just a star design of some sort. does look similar to the fry logo though.

  • Hi stwvo we are from New Zealand, and the board is our design.

  • I own a 9'3" and have ridden a 10'2" which feel big, but this just takes the biscuit, it's huge!

  • nice

  • That's awesome. I'm glad you've got the BUS to fit it in. ;)

  • They are versatile boards which can ride a lot of different sized waves, big or small.

  • thought olo's are suposed to be big wave boards

  • omg! how long is that?!

  • That's 17 feet and 65 pounds, I have a 19 footer under construction now also.
