  • God damn this video reminds me so much of Heavy Metal. So much so, I'm going to watch it now lol

  • Is it weird that this song gave me a boner?

  • My favorite song!!! bad ass!

  • if you play this in your ipod, and go for a run, you end up chasing people .....

  • i could really do without all the pagan lyrics of this band , but the MUSIC, GODDAMN!!!

  • These guys are the embodiment of all that is awesome and kickass about hard rock/metal. I just might have a new favorite band.

  • "The legends tell of weapons,

    Wielded by kings of old,

    Crafted by evil wizards,

    Unholy to behold."

  • First time hearing this song and I couldn't stop headbanging

  • Who the fuck is putting these ".... I'm a Mormon" ads all over youtube. You have to ask yourself this mormons... WHO FUCKING CARES! Go read some magic rocks somewhere else!

  • Did this video make anyone else want to play Borderlands?

  • SLAUGHTERHOUSE - FIVE

  • The Sword almost completely emulates what I love to hear from Heavy Metal/Classic Rock.

  • damn i dont know anything about heavy metal first time listening to it but this is some sick stuff better than anything i have ever heard

  • Who ever made this video should do one of the episodes in the new Heavy Metal movie.

  • Babies are sad about bieng one

  • babies are sad about this.

  • J pop ninja

  • this song sounds pretty good, the video's style looks straight out of the movie Wizards, or maybe the Lord of the Rings (animated). pretty good

  • Forever wild brother

  • Good Song!

  • @theswordisgay lol hipster? Your a fag

  • @theswordisgay so what you're saying is that being gay is somehow bad and is an appropriate insult?

What I'm strongly implying is that you are a homophobe.

  • @DoomCenturion haha good one

  • @DoomCenturion ya it is bad lol.... if u dont mind them then just drop the soap and then tell us how much u love them lol,

  • @theswordisgay We know you love the Sword if your channel is named after them. It's not like anything you listen to is immaculately conceived with no influence from other bands.

  • @theswordisgay I guess you listen to attack attack!! ? I mean yeah bdowns sound cool when they don't use the same one over and over again.

  • @theswordisgay So I guess by your logic Judas Priest and Queen were hipster and terrible as well? Almost all music that's been written is an expression of an experience of some kind. So I guess you could say that all musicians are just rip offs and have never done anything original. Congratulations.

  • @theswordisgay Wow you are seriously gay to go to every one of their videos and comment on how gay they are. Are you jealous or just a total Faggot? (I think it's the latter)

  • greetings from chile... try to visit us with kyuss lives.. there are just an argentinian band and yajaira from chile playing at the stoner fest.. you guys should try to come

  • Whiskey ninja

  • This song is fucking called Fire Lances of the Ancient Hyperzephyrians. Fuck yes.

  • @SuperCrazyMetalHead I would say, Black Sabbath ;)

  • Man these guys have sure some along! I have seen them live so many times now in Arizona! First time in like 2006 or 2007. Didn't even need tickets then, just paid to get in. I even got to hang out with them after one of their shows and watch the other band play with them. They are really cool and lay back! I am not surprised at how famous they are now, I am a fan for life! Love these guys!

  • I like the post-apocalyptic video and the Ralph Bakshi-style animation.

  • XD i kno, man the sword rock. wut an awsome band, in the age of faceless bands!!!

  • Sweet.

  • lol has anyone checked out the lyrics? lol, the sword are lord of the rings nerds turned heavy metal.

a lot like myself, actually. i love it

  • @jeevsrocks Pagan/ Wiccan

  • THIS BAND HAS INSPIRED OURBAND!!

so if ya like these guys then you all should DEFF check our page out and tell us what you think!

we are up and coming and we need opinions!! and what on our page is the rough ROUGH cuts of whats to come

    SO THANKS!!

  • decent video. Amazing song. I've loved The Sword since I first heard them. I always will. I think they're every bit as Good as Led Zep and Sabbath. They definitely have their own sound.

  • Not only was that song awesome, Whoever made this video is a visual genius!

  • DUDE! Love the "Wizards"/"Heavy Metal" feel to this video! Awesome rotoscoping! LONG LIVE METAL!

  • @kleemable wth why leave a comment if you dont like ur missing out on one of the best

  • THE "KEEP FAGGOT'S STUFF OUT OF METAL POSTS" CRUSADE

PEOPLE: Stop writing the names of YOU KNOW WHO when adding your comments on metal posts. Yes, we all hate those bitches but when you're writing their names you're giving them more power too, for fuck sake!

That's the way that kind of shit gets more viewing: WHEN YOU NAME IT and the Tube system makes a WORD REGISTRY, TAGGING ALL KIND OF SHIT along with our beloved metal videos.

No magic but COMPUTER BOTS science.

    NOW YOU KNOW IT!!

  • From what I've gathered from the lyrics I think they're talking about nuclear armageddon. The "Fire Lances" are the nukes, the "Kings of Old" world leaders and "Evil Wizards" the scientists who created them.

  • f****** bad*** band,

  • @steelerjenn go listen to justin fag

  • I had an orgasm when I saw this. i'll never get it off of my screen.

  • this video reminds me of japan

  • IN YOUR FACE ....MUSIC ON THE RADIO

  • Best video.

  • Fantastic use of rotoscope for depicting a tripped out sci-fi ballad! Great song, the video compliments it perfectly. But where have I seen an Elk with burning antlers before? It seems so familiar.

  • @OldWorldAmerican I thought the same.

maybe isn't the elk with burning antlers, but just the Elk.

you'll see, the elk looks pretty much like an scene of bambi i think, and yeah, it sounds funny, but the scene of that movie with an elk it's so creepy that it stays in my memorie till now, cos i use to watch the movie with mi little sister when it came up.

  • @lendranian....what the fuck? shut the hell up

  • sounds perfect

  • Tonight at the Grenada Theater in Dallas!!! Can't wait - AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!

  • Will be seeing these MOFO's in Dallas this Saturday! Ahhhhhh yeah!

  • @cd97peace that was a a hell of a show!

  • This video looks like it could be a awesome movie!

  • So the fire lances are nukes? Lol, it makes since now that I've seen the video for this song.

  • tron meets the road warrior <3

  • Great band!! I just discovered it through a friend... ¡At last I have something to combine with Danava in my playlists!

  • To be fair, I listen to a shitload of death metal, black metal, selective deathcore etc.. The evolution of this is sick, but I don't think this is the future of the genre itself. This is, however the future for this subgenre, no doubt.

  • i remember listening to this song live. I had never hear of em and i was blown away. as soon as i got home i looked em up and i could barely find anything about them. but i found this album at Rasputin record store. AMAZING BAND. it was a metallica concert early dec of 2008. Lamb of God (which i dont like) played after them. I wished The Sword would have played until Metallica came out instead of Lamb of God.

  • \m/ \m/

  • video reminds me of Ten Thousand Strong by Iced Earth

  • This is some bad ass, old school shit. It reminds me of when I first got into metal, listening to Paranoid by Sabbath and thinking it was completely epic. The video is hardcore too, I love the concept.

  • All I know is, I saw The Sword open for Metallica. fucking badass.

  • Ralph Bakshiesque vid. I always liked that look. There needs to be more of it.

  • I want more ! This band cranks. Well worth a listen.

  • saw them live this past summer, such an awesome band!!

  • awesome!

  • this is perhaps the best music video you could ever see

  • i got a boner

  • Epic video

    Awesome song

    Epicly Awesome band!

  • like a mix of Metalocalypse, Elias Merhige's Begotten, Ralph Bakshi's Lord of the Rings, and the Y2K episode of Family Guy. Exemplary.

3:22 = Best. Halloween. Costume. Ever.

  • Instrumentals are solid, I just feel like the vocals don't match up. I want the vocals to be as brutal as the riffs! They're reminiscent of old school metal like Sabbath. Not terrible byy any means, just not metal enough for me!

  • @baysideisacult67 I agree the VOCALS SUCK ASS! The band rocks but the vocals and even the lyrics......no good

  • Such a great song... I'm seeing them in October can't fuckin wait

  • What day cause I'm seeing them on the 3rd of Oct. in Portland

    I saw them 2yrs ago

  • @helterskelter1178 on the 23rd in Chicago. Its their last US stop for that tour... Haven't seen them yet so I'm stoked! Warp riders is very *meh* compared to Gods of the Earth in my opinion, but it looks like they've played a lot of heavy old stuff lately. 2 days from now! Wish I was seeing them this weekend. lucky...

  • @jdavidson091 What a great FOKKEN show, both John(JD) and Bryan were wearing RUSH t-shirts.I was in front about 5 feet away from Bryan. The openers were VERY GOOD. Mount Carmel was very much like Mountain and ZZ Top Their drummer sounded very much like the late Mitch Mitchell. Karma to Burn VERY LOUD and EXTREMELY HEAVY, their drummer equally good, looked like he just came out of a hippie commune. Their singer/guitarist is the son of Dave Davies(Davis) of THE KINKS. GREAT GREAT FOKKEN SHOW

  • @helterskelter1178 Sounds awesome I can't wait

  • Cool video

  • 1,000,000,000 badass points for the video!

  • Thanks to Lucian I now know that this band is brutality incarnate.

  • This is pretty much awesome, yeah.

  • This is probably the best music video i have ever seen.

  • this is a fucking metal anthem and nothing less.

  • Well said Misery. This band is amazing. I'm sad it took me so long to discover them.

  • @menekali2 same here man jus heard of the like last year

amazing shit jus simply amazing tunage right here

  • @menekali2 but look at it like this, you get a whole bunch of brand new cds to listen to all at once. Lucky!

  • @menekali2 yea this is like an 80s metal band except they formed in 03 anyone know any other bands like this?

  • @SMEAGZY Check out Witchcraft, Witch, Hour 13. Those are all good, along the same lines (hour 13 being a probably the oddest though).

  • @menekali2 Yep, I know what you guys are talking about cuz I'm feeling the same: so sad I found The Sword until now, because they're underrated. This band sounds great, like 70s Black Sabbath trying to play like 90s Testament... SO SICK! Man, if your ass it's not seriously kicked by this song, you probably doesn't have one!

  • this video is a legit compliment to the actual song. very nice work.

  • This Band is just what the metal doctor ordered. Well needed!

  • After nearly two decades of being a metalhead, in 2008, after listening to Age of Winters (and liking it), I took a break.

Today, I look up The Sword to check the material I missed and . . . HOLEY CRAP, they've improved their sound tremendously. I had to rewind the vid at least seven times, snapping my neck in disbelief, in order to believe it was the same band. The video, the tune. Awesome made manifest.

I love pure Doom. But, man, this tune is RAW. I'm buying the album.

  • @MutteringUrchin Gods of the Earth is so far their best album. You will not be disappointed with the rest of their songs on that disc. If you're on this kind of timescale where you're picking up on things a couple years later....... maybe it should stay that way and just skip the third album. It's coming out this August and so far the one single is a disappointment. They brought on a producer and they sound more pop-rock-ish with an ultra catchy chorus to rope in a wider audience.

  • @EyeOnTheTV Yeah, I've heard about the new material. I believe one of the band members touts it as having a sci-fi theme. Haven't heard anything of it yet, though, as I'm concentrating on the stuff I missed for now. I honestly didn't think album 1 to album 2 would bring much change.

On the production on the approaching 3rd: well see. But already witnessing many new, potentially legendary bands, altering their mixing tech for some inexplicable reason (not just in metal), I wouldn't say "lies!"

  • @EyeOnTheTV I had to come back here and say you weren't wrong. Got the album last week. It is HEAVY. Nice little hidden variation of a track at the end as well.

  • @MutteringUrchin Rock on.

  • I need the link: 2:09

  • Comment removed

  • sleep called, they want their sound back.

  • One of the coolest video's I've ever seen.

  • This simply kicks some fucking serious ass !!

  • this IS METAL !!! ... metal isn't all about fucking screaming and growl vocals ... metal first started with "normal" singing ... it is often said that Black sabbath brought "metal" to us ... and they are not screaming or what the hell ... \m/ to everyone !!!

  • @MetalHeadTin well said brother

  • @MetalHeadTin That can't be formulated better! THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT METAL IS ABOUT! Good music, not screaming like hell, trying to make good riffs and end up failing.

  • @MetalHeadTin Totally! In fact I'd go so far as to say I far prefer this singing over the screamo and growl vocals that dominate the metal scene now. It's good to see a band put musicality in front of the presumption that sounding like you have serious bowel problems or you're being repeatedly stabbed is more metal. Go The Sword!

  • @nowweareone Or maybe it's both. Maybe the journey was so great they crossed the USA and into Russia.

  • @SuperChickencow that explanation whips a camel's ass.

  • strange. the presence of car henge in the video implies that the setting is post apocalypse USA. However, the missile reads CCCP (USSR). Maybe its not car henge after all; but just a place where primitive Russians dumped their clunkers.

  • @nowweareone Or maybe the missile failed to detnate in the USA. Ethier way this is a pretty badass video.

  • Been picking their songs off one by one for the last hour. Keeps getting better and better. Now would be the time to pay attention all you fingernail painted, eyeliner wearing fags. THIS IS METAL.

  • this shit FUCKING RIPS!!! this is some face melter shit!!!

  • the most best music video ever to be seen !

  • omg car henge! 1:45

  • This looks like a fucking Moebius comic, which makes it 100 times more interesting than anything else going on at the moment

  • What is Metal? It's a term record companies abuse mercilessly to sell records.

  • its an awful fad to make those wannabe cartoon music clips

it didnt change the fact that you can almost feel the greenscreen no matter how many celshading you put on it

but this always looks so... half-assed

  • Seeing this video a few months back and hearing The Sword on 'I Hit it With My Axe,' it all just squirmed in my brain until i couldn't hold out anymore. Last weekend I bought this album, my first metal album in years, and you know what? I'm wicked happy.

  • What a wicked vid.

  • this video is so freaking awesomely insane

  • It seems MEtal is dead in So Cal. I check out some death metal shows, but the pits are weak. And YES..... This song is the shit!

  • this song is the shit

  • The sword is awesome live. \m/

  • I'm pretty sure NoLiesPlease is a bot.

  • Fuckign wicked song & video. Epic

  • Strange music video, but awesome song!

  • absolutely amazing. incredible riffs, great drumming. full of energy. this is the shit.

  • @DSROCKNROLLER Well Said \m/

  • this video is sort of a continuation of "The Mob Rules" - love it...

  • well guys I'm 43 and an "old" metal head and all I can say is that these guys ROCK - so tired of the cookie monster/screaming vocals of so many new bands --- THE SWORD knows what heavy metal is all about. They are the future of metal and it's a good one - the roots are in the PAST - they even use classic gear. Awesome!

  • man i dont care how old u are

u listen to metal and love this shit then Hail \m/ to you my friend!

but as to say the future of metal?

man look where its all going

doom metal, grindcore, metalcore, scremo, deathmetal,i even heard of samuri metalcore,

music is expanding to the extremes.and our roots of metal will never be forgotten

the sword is an amazing band tho

    totally and fully underated dude

    i mean 72tho hits,thats it?

    this band deserves way more

  • but again main point being metal will always evolve, lets jus hope it dont go back to cinderellas and warrent times

80's underground was where it was,but thats for another topic all on its own lol

  • Cinderella actually could rock when they wanted too - they chose the cash - like many did - including Priest and Maiden (attempted commercial albums) - This song is great because it makes you think --- even the ending - what happened here? That is entertainment - that is philosophy - are we headed towards this? still? Planet of the Apes --- all the good elements of metal - political science and kick ass riffs to back it up...

  • @misery8305 its coz too many people listen to mainstream crap like cold gay and queens of leon. people dont understand that that is just mass produced shit without emotion or message. metal is one of the last few froms of music where artists dare to take their instrumental knowledge and skill to extremes and challenge all that is safe. and thereby it is underpreciated by the masses of idiots.

  • @Mokumbo

to be fair Kings of Leon are pretty good, but horribly overplayed.

And there is a lot of shit metal. Most people think the more brutal it is the better music it is.

Which I can safely say is definitely not true and it just makes the band look like fucktards lol

Theres plenty of good music though and if you take the time to find it you'll be satisfied and proud of your taste in music, rather than just rockin out to a catchy song on the radio.

  • @ButtersGettingHard yeah not with you on the whole kings of leon thing, but ur right there is plenty of good stuff, i myself think kasabian is a fantastic band, but my main issue is with the following problem: band makes alright music, band gets popular, music gets better, band gets too popular (every retard with an ipod says: I FUKIN LOVE BAND! THEY ARE SOOOO GOOOOD!), band gets to big for its own good, band is overrated.

and ur right about more brutal not being better, it has to fit the band

  • @misery8305 what do you mean "look where its going...deathmetal"

death metal has been around since the eighties.

  • @terroriticus not to bright are ya? jus jokes man

sure its been around since then , all im saying is metal will never go back to this

a few bands sure like this one but not many

  • @misery8305 The reason they are underrated is the vocals. The band is tight minus vocals. Vocals keeping this band down

  • @ILovespotteddick serious man?

i mean i love the metal, and love all screams and different types of vocals

i thought the vocals on this band fukkin rule

  • @misery8305 I think I listened to something else and commented here. Or I just scewed up. I listened again and thought the music is tight and good. The vocals were ok. They didn't suck but weren't blow me away either. Overall not bad.

  • @misery8305 grindcore, metalcore, screamo all suck. doom metal sounds like it would be cool but everything core fucking sucks.

  • @bl00dr3dxxx Dude, come on. Napalm Death? Brutal Truth? Terrorizer? Those are badass bands.

  • @misery8305 Core is not fuckin metal seriously. It's core it's a different genre.

  • @misery8305

Screamo has absolutely NOTHING to do with metal. Grindcore and Screamo are actually punk.

    Metalcore isn't metal.

  • @yoursoulismine1 serious??

what are u talkin about dude

i mean its a sub genre

that would be like saying resident eveil outbreak has nothing to do with resident evil lol

i mean i dont care what ur into but come on , so i guess a breakfast burito isint a burito?

  • @misery8305

No, it's saying Screamo has nothing to do with metal. It isn't even a subgenre.

Grindcore is actually punk. It isn't metal.

Metalcore comes from Hardcore, which isn't metal. Metalcore only has metal INFLUENCE. This does NOT make it metal.

Samurai metalcore wouldn't be it's own subgenre either. It's still just metalcore. Lyrical content doesn't constitute a genre.

  • @yoursoulismine1 i agree on the lyrical part but man

i guess everyone has their opionons

but i never heard or seen any punkers listen to metalcore or grindcore

i love all metal and well i clasify it as metal

jus as i clasify this as a type of metal

shit man i havent been on here in months i didnt expect a responce so fast lol

  • @misery8305

That's where they came from though.

and I just happened to be on at the time lulz

  • @yoursoulismine1 Metal and Punk are so crossbred its ridiculous. NWOBHM bands like Judas Priest and Motorhead were heavily influenced by punk rock and sped up heavy metal out of the stoner/hard rock roots and into speed metal. In turn, hardcore punk itself is something that punk rock took and added metal to it. Black metal was heavily influenced by hardcore punk, Bathory cites discharge, charged gbh, and the exploited as major influences. Thrash metal itself has strong punk influences.

  • @OnslaughtFei

Yes, but influence doesn't necessarily make it metal (or punk)

Hardcore punk is punk. There might be influence, but it is punk.

Some subgenres are true hybrids, some aren't but occasionally have a band that is.

And while Thrash has those strong punk influences, it is still Metal, as opposed to Punk. Aside from Crossover Thrash (which is one of the true hybrid subgrenres)

  • @yoursoulismine1 I don't see why getting your panties in a wad over what's pure punk and whats pure metal, music isnt that simple. Some thrash bands like Municipal Waste and Nuclear Assault are a 50/50 split. Some like Toxic Holocaust and Onslaught are heavily influenced by dbeat and crust punk. Crust punk itself is a very heavy hybrid between hardcore and metal. Go listen to some Amebix or Discharge. Grindcore bands like Carcass and Napalm Death are also an even metal and punk split.

  • @OnslaughtFei

I'm not. I tend to come off like that though. Part of this is due to there being a lack of tone on the internet.

Btw, I'm aware of everything you're talking about.

  • I like how the missile says CCCP on it.

  • they are no hipsters, they are the fucking real deal. bands like Slipknot, Limp bizkit, ect are hipsters. these guys are hippies and metalheads. You gota problem with any type of metalhead we will come to your house and MAKE you conver to our think deal with it PleaseNoLies.

  • Obvious troll is obvious.

    Try harder.

  • He does try pretty hard... I mean it's been a couple years now. Think he's a scorned lover or something? XD

The Sword rocks though, epic troll is epic fail. Epic.

  • raptures delight

  • galaxyrock, i agree with your hypothesis regarding NoLiesPlease. complete fag lord of the fag realm. the sword is the fucking mad note.

  • NoLiesPlease has posted a negative comment on every 'The Sword' video every week for the past four years. I have a suspicion he's 45 years old, lives in his parents' basement, is over 400 pounds, and has never felt the warm embrace of a woman. I'm pretty sure he will die alone, and they will have to cut a hole in his house to remove his body.

  • @galaxyrock lol, and he has a constant smell of fried cheese

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL!!!! i love how NoLiesPlease says "pass the doobie"

  • haha, "stoner metal." I love these guys and can't wait for the new album.

  • Our legends tell of weapons/wielded by kings of old/crafted by evil wizards/unholy to behold.

    Gotta love those lyrics.
