In December of 1986, Johnny traveled to London on a strictly promotional trip, for his album THE HOLLYWOOD MUSICALS. While there, John and Henry Mancini guested on the "Richard Clayderman Concert, which was recorded for television. They also performed for the charity concert "A Christmas Night of One Hundred Stars." A British newspaper wrote: "Johnny Mathis was the highspot of the evening. Perhaps it should have been called 'A Christmas Night of One Star and 99 Supporting Acts.'" (smile)

@19rebel57 thank you, Maria, I did not know the origin of the concert- there are songs from the CD later on- which as I mentioned i had trouble with - but i'm going to give them another try. Always great to get the real scoop- and yes- I can see why it would be called a night of "One Star".

@19rebel57 I was in the 2nd row centre,, for "A Christmas Night etc etc" and as John came on stage, we all rose up as one, and gave him such a welcome! I have this on DVD somewhere! The "Mathis Connection" were in the first 3 rows!!

Just after JM completes the medley- before the next set of songs (from Hollywood Musicals)- a row of "Connection" fans- you are there??- get up to clap- i am going to try to process the rest and do 'part 2' if I can.)

@jmsgirlger1 - you know.... i had more to this video- but i had trouble with it- you may not hear it- but to my ear the sound is a bit off- and in the first one i created a row of "women' got up and clapped..... I thought then-- this is The Connection!- for whatever reason- and i worked on it a very long time- I could not get it to sync up- . So- i'm very happy to have this piece to share. You're welcome- enjoy those memories:)
