  • The lyrics are nothing special, but still a really good song

  • Every time i hear this song.... i get the sense that im in the 90's (Even though this song was made in the 90's) i 1st heard this song in my early elementary school days..so there is always nostalgic memories attached with this song along with that early school atmosphere aurora..man..i feel old

  • I hadn't realized until very recently that this was Duran Duran. . . personally my favorite song of theirs by far.

  • lol cough katty perry

  • Ehh this is all right. But i think RED's version is far better

  • One of their best songs, in my opinion. Pity that most people forget or don't realize what great musicians/songwriters they are.

  • Its cool to see Duran Durans early TOTALLY 80's videos, then see these 90's videos. I was just trying to describe to my girlfriend what a "90's looking video" looked like. I think I'll show her this or "Come Undone". Total 90's!

  • RED's cover of this is pretty cool, too.

  • this is perfection!

  • Simon's lyrics are among the best

  • The 80 British music has to be the best music of any era. 70's American was probably second. Those were the days. One great song seemed to arrive after another. Today we have the cheep and the nasty, with an occasional good song here and there.

  • best song ever written and played ?!

  • what an inspiration to other addicts let your pride go and all your friends and learn to live with out dope!!!!!!! wow how awsome if your not an addict getting clean you miss all the little keys to recovery!!!!

  • this is about getting clean the ghost is dope and the ordinary world is the one we have to live in clean but we have to make our way and we do survive! clean! the lie is dead once an addict always and addict? not, not no more we do survive in the ordinary world. he wrote this song in rehab and believe the ghosts of the dope are mean.

  • this is about getting clean the ghost is dope and the ordinary world is the one we have to live in clean but we have to make our way and we do survive! clean! the lie is dead once an addict always and addict? not, not no more we do survive in the ordinary world. he wrote this song in rehab and believe the ghost of the dope are mean.

  • Muy buena esta mítica canción

  • this music reminds me how people treat me

  • EPIC MUSIS! wish some of today famous pop bands made something like this what you will remember after decades.

  • touching music

  • always gives me the chill. makes me think about my ex and it cuts in my heart.

    The music WAS better before!

  • this is brutally beautiful

  • Duran Duran ........ just faboulus...

  • Pero no lloraré por el ayer

    Hay un mundo común

De alguna forma tengo que encontrar

Y mientras intento hacer mi camino

    Al mundo común

    Aprenderé a sobrevivir♥

  • One of the few introspective story songs from this legendary group. But it is very good and fitting of how the times had changed from their reign in the '80's to the early 90's. Talking about "holy war and holy need". Bosnia and Serbia were murdering each other and Israel was getting bombed about every other day during that year the song came out. Anything they did was great. They simply had the golden touch from Rio to Come Undone it did get much better than that.

  • For helv... hvor den sang da minder mig om min tid på Oure idrætsefterskole!!! Det må have været i 1992-1993. Memories................

  • perfekt

  • Love this song, 2 me, it sounds like they are singing about transitioning from rock gods 2 ordinary people in the ordinary world. They say in the song it doesn't compare to the great heartaches on earth, but it is their little sorrow. Pop belongs to youth, which means aging rock stars retire or look stupid chasing youth from a plastic surgeons chair...either way, it is rough on aging sexy rock stars!

  • This is by far Duran Duran's best work. Everything from the lyrics to the music arrangement, it is a work of art. Listen to the full version with the longer intro and middle guitar riffs to get the full genius of it all. Ordinary World is very underrated, it should have been up there with the Eagles' Hotel California, Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven (overrated), and U2's one. They should have won some kind of award for this masterpiece.

  • BRANDI JO LEE, i Still I can't escape the ghost of you, I will learn to survive, jesus

  • great song this one

  • utter class

  • anyone that have ever suffered with emotional or mental illness can relate to this song......all we want is to be part of "the ordinary world", but it is just out of our grasp. Be happy that "you" are ordinary.......it must be like heaven

  • Layer Cake <3

  • this is a real band.

who else would have risen twice from being literally "dead".

  • awesome........it touches my souls

  • Duran Duran is like Funyuns......you tell everyone you wouldn't touch them, but then you go home and eat the whole bag......

  • I dont really like Duran Duran, never really got into them.

    BUT

i bum off this song a fantastic amount

  • 0;25 i want my lamp shade back!!!

  • I Wanna Have The Wedding Like This.(Sometimes.......)

  • looks like justin bieber made 31 accounts... great song anyway.

  • alot of bands call themselves "musicians" these days are in for a quick buck, and have no "soul" in the noise they make. groups like DD are her for the long haul and only put out albums that have meaning, not just to put an album out

  • i like his song since i heard it first time!!!

  • love the lirycs to this song. so deeply emotional.

  • OH. MINE!! THIS SONG AND THE VIDEO ARE SUPER!!! I REMEMBER MY TIMES WHEN I WAS YOUNG. OH, BEAUTIFUL DAYS!! THEY ARE IN MY HEART. IN THOSE TIMES I HAD A BOYFRIEND HE LOOKS LIKE HIM CAUSE HE'S TALL, SKINNY, HIS HAIR, HIS LIPS, WOW! WHAT A WONDERFUL DAYS!! GOOD!!!

  • Duran Duran just deep every lyric. AND ITS GOOOOOOOOOODDDD!

  • it was the best song for me...ordinary but full of meaning.. touching..

  • Love this song, beautiful lyrics, stunning video. Knocked Save A Prayer off as my no1 song.

  • Duran Duran just deep every lyric.

  • Excellent Post 4 ever **Duran Duran**!! Love this song so much mann...

  • I listen to this song over and over its beautiful...

  • :) I love it!

  • heyyy everyonee, check out the cover of this song performed by a canadian metal band called - RED... the song has much greater intensity!

    cheers

  • @mattsimmons1 Red's version is not a patch on this. Re'd version is emo rubbish.

  • I try not to listen to it very often so I don't lose that feeling I get every time I hear it. I don't know how that's gonna turn out though...

  • Still I cant escape he ghost of you...That shit is deep...real deep

  • @entity1891 deep shit :))

  • SIMON LE BON É F_DA!! MAGNIFICO!!

  • Why can't the new up and coming musicians try to acheive this level of expertise? I hate "auto tuners"

  • @timsricochet

because its an "ordinary world" now, with no need for talent to be rich.

  • @TheRedCapitalist Well said

  • @timsricochet there is alot of good new music out there....your just not listening to the right stuff

  • @EARLTIPTON well i hear alot cause of my kids and cant say as i care for much and some is absolutly awful and foul ,there is 1 song the second i hear it i turn the radio if that had been made in the 80 it would never been on the air.

  • @EARLTIPTON Well said, and I'm looking..but I still hate the sound of auto-tuners. Sounds weird to me.

  • @timsricochet I'd never heard of auto-tuners until I read your comment here. Wow, I read up on it and it is pervasive and quite controversial it seems. Apparently it's a commonly used crutch for marginal voices in pop songs.

  • @andyt1313 you can here the tuner when they sing through it and I think it is very distracting..and hopefully just a fad

  • @timsricochet Because they will never compare to Duran Duran. They dont hold a candle to them.

  • @ScrewThebentoYes you are right, They were born with talent and they worked for years to define it.

  • @timsricochet

anyone who uses an autotuner can die.. (cough katy perry)

  • Everytime i listen this song i feel like my life is gonna change ...

  • BRANDI ,il learn to survive, jesus

  • I don't cry for yesterday

    There's an ordinary world

    Somehow I have to find

And as I try to make my way

    To the ordinary world

I will learn to survive...................BRANDI LEE

  • "I turned on the lights, the TV

    And the radio

Still I can't escape the ghost of you..."

  • Such a amazing song

  • Great song and video, Duran Duran showing that they STILL know how to make a visual stunning music video. Videos before them were pretty much crap.

  • best song ever

  • love this sooo much!

  • Sorry but there is never a better version of a original and having grown up in the 1980s I loved Duran Duran's music.

The last thing I thought that they were going to give us was such a classic masterpiece as "Ordinary World"!

Truly a song that boggles your mind! Pure genious!

  • yeap it was a crush and it ended it never begun i guess but it worthed the try... goodbye sweet vasiliki .;;; i am sure you like the song great song

  • Its great how Duran Duran so easily it seems was able to leave the 80s and enter the 90s. Such a great song. Really represents the 90s

  • Simon Le Bon in a Beatle haircut? Had never seen that one before.Thanx!

  • Donde quieras que estes Fàtima ....Gran Amor de mi Vida

  • i love this song....!!!!

  • God I love this song... There an awesome band... I'd give anything for music to be like this today... And anything to go back to the eighties, nintys and early two thousands.

  • sedaliahobby dot c likes this

  • original is a little better

  • Eifach wunderschön......!

  • they're sounding great in this song. my first time hearing this. simon has great range.

  • this video was filmed at the Huntington Libary in Pasadena which is open to the public

  • just great ... erinnert mich immer az wallis, und der üsgang da ...

  • ahh reminds me of my first real love(so i believe) she left without a word..you're my hero Mr. Beer inventer!

  • golden wer those days...wen i listned to such music n vocals....this makes my eys filldd wid tears.....life will tear us both apaaart

  • This song sprang from the ethers of creation and was a gift to Duran Duran who then gave us the most important song and message of all: that of coming back to sanity after being TOO HIGH Or too low for too long. And in the scheme of things, what got us worked up in the past doesn't need to be where we're at now.

  • good old days...

  • I watched this video when I was 5 years old and it made me sad. After 20 years it still makes me feel that way for no apparent reason. Good video :)

  • I always go back in time when I listen to this amazing song... love '90!!!

  • I was just wondering. How come that the first thing people usually think of when they hear this song is about people they love or some wonderful moments spent with a person they were deeply in love with? At least I do. Its like an instant time travel machine which explains eternal love in about four minutes and forty seconds.

  • @holodock The song is part of a trilogy (along with "Do You Believe in Shame" and "Out of My Mind") about a close friend of Simon's who died young. I'm not sure what the circumstances were, but the idea that it would remind people of past relationships, romantic or otherwise, fits the concept of the song perfectly.

  • Red version just doesn't seem to fit.

    I'll stick with the original!

  • :( To me DD was never the same after Andy and Roger left. I like and applaud the fact that Roger has returned to the DD fold but it's still not the same without Andy.

  • how old is the singers of this band? They are famous since the 80s.Look like they didn't get old

  • After seeing these RED comments and not being familiar with them, a did a quick search. I thought I would hate their version but to my surprise they did a decent job. But anyone that thinks RED's version is better than DD is severely delusional.

  • Awesome song. I saw DD in concert and they sang this song. But, it wasn't until a few years later that I really appreciated it. Doh. I did it in reverse order.

  • womans wearing a lamp shade on her head. lol good song though

  • RED version is an abomination !

  • Can't help but have a connection to this song - Love it

  • This song has the same pop-hearted feel as Viva Forever by the Spice Girls - nearly diabetic by the tune sweetness but pulls it off (unlike LOADS of other pop songs)

  • LAYER CAKE

  • LAYER CAKE

  • probably DD`s best song :)

  • waaaaaaaaaaaa mucho feeelingg!

  • I miss my daddy :(

  • @bethyexe A wastebasket.

  • FUCK YOU ALL WITH "RED" THIS IS ORIGINAL AND IS WAAAAY BETTER THAN YOUR STUPID AND HORRIBLE BAND. LONG LIFE TO DURAN DURAN!!!!! LOVE YOU GUYSSS ♥

  • RED's version totally owns this.

  • Duran Duran é a melhor banda britanica que tem.

  • i love this song

  • the world doesn't seem ordinary anymore, since bands like these and many others like them just seem to disappear from the face of the earth!

  • @dxtros1

I understand what you're saying, but I think you mean that the world is ordinary now without bands like this. Back in the day, bands like Duran Duran made the world extraordinary.

  • @ggh7664 touche! my friend!

  • hola que buen tema xD

  • It's funny every year or so I'll end up listening to this song on my bed dealing with another crush that's moved away. Perfect relationship end song :)

  • @CuddleNation

This is a great song for that. It's hauntingly beautiful.

  • @CuddleNation I could not agree with you more sir.

  • "ours is just a bit of sorrow news"

  • sad sad song but i like it.

  • if them jedwierd cunt off pop factor touch this i will cut there tiny balls off

  • Cuando crezcas, descubrirás que ya defendiste mentiras, te engañaste a ti mismo o sufriste por tonterías. Si eres un buen guerrero, no te culparás por ello, pero tampoco dejarás que tus errores se repitan.

  • @elprensista

Gracias x la frase... excelente !

  • 18 when this was in charts [45 now christ getting old] takes me straight back to 18 when i here it life was so much easyer then now its shit weather shit job shit music and on and on

  • @john777uk it came out 92/93. do you mean duran duran came out when u were 18 or this song? if u heard song in 93 and were 18 u would be mathwise for the song you would be 35...or did u mean 35 instead of 45. sorry i was just a bit confused.

  • listen to oldskool lol

  • muy buen tema

  • Personally I hated the eighties and all it stood for. Bad taste in fashion, bad taste in sexuality and some real shockers in the music world. I beleive it is the decade where the balance of power between the races was forever changed. For the first time, woman were potrayed as the stronger sex, and the men were reduced to homos with bad haircuts. That said though, there was some classics from these bands,

  • stiLL...

  • fuck yourself in the ass, justin beiber.

  • @gengarjetty

You're a distasteful ignorant... Beiber is meant for 12 year olds... Are you 12?

Only uneducated Neanderthals resort to insult.

  • @noutubeusrnames :

no, people with balls insult ;)

and no, beiber is popular otherwise as well..

  • @gengarjetty

You're a distasteful ignorant... Beiber is meant for 12 year olds... Are you 12?

Only uneducated Neanderthals' insult what doesn't match their taste.

(BTW: I don't listen nor like Beiber)

  • Amazing song!!

  • Some credit must be given to a band so heavily associated with one decade being able to chart in another. Props.

  • 1993 !!!!!!!!!!

  • Where is the life that I recognize? I want to find an "ordinary world" too...It's been so long.

  • @xraycat30

I agree I feel like I am stuck in a past and am a stranger wondering through the present where I Do not belong ;(

  • @lordtalon69....You are not alone my lord...Question is...are we better off searching for the ghosts of the past and crying for yesterday while at least somewhat perversely enjoying the pathos of that lost time, or are we better off telling ourselves that there's an ordinary world that we have to find where life will feel normal again? I'm 33 years old and still undecided about this one.

  • @xraycat30 your comment made my hair stand up. We do perversely enjoy the pathos, don't we? What would we do without it?

  • @Barrettm95....What would we do without it indeed...and what would we BE without it? Just other empty vessels I suppose like the kind that think Katy Perry or 50 Cent offer anything meaningful. When life offers nothing that truly stimulates the soul like the present era, which seems almost entirely devoid of meaning or character, one might fight themselves longing for a past that made more sense and meant something. And yes, I enjoy mourning the past...but I don't believe it's entirely healthy.

  • RED version is awesome

  • @weisson001 dd version is the best...

  • @weisson001

Red's version is the worst song I've ever heard. Fuck off Christian fag.

  • @YesGrosvenor whatever.. that's your opinion

  • @YesGrosvenor that was uncalled for. others have their opinions also.

  • quite possibly their most timeless song. Not saying there other stuff is bad you can identify most of them from the 80s. This, is harder to tell when it came from.

I love all of their songs nonetheless.

  • U.U

  • Agreed. From the days when they put a little more THOUGHT into both the music and the videos. "What has happened to it all, crazy some say" .. for sure. :)
